Is there a way to get a ranger to backoff a fight after the tank merc has engadged? i am using /mac kiss assist puller but at the moment I am having to set my tank merc on auto assist so he runs out and starts fighting the mob and my ranger can then goto autofire mode but and heres the but sometimes the merc is late rushing out to meet the mob and my ranger stands there with yellow text saying he's to close to use a range weapon.

Anyway around this would be great or add a separate Puller mode for Rangers that can make them backup from a fight after merc is fighting mob to enable auto would be great. :)
 
I still dont get why people playing rangers want to range while doing MQ. I main a ranger, and with KA you WILL do more dps shredding your 1 handers.
 
Headshot is one of your answers...personally i like my ranger to say ranged while boxing tank and other 2 melees, more casters is easier to say im boxing all them
 
would it not be possible to use mq2melee and a downshit that tests for the tank being actively figthing the mob, adn then moves you back until you at 50 range.

Headshot is one of your answers

You get headshots on the humanoid blue cons while you are pulling them in. You also get another headshot if you are lucky while meleeing and casting your arrow spell.

When your mobs are up for less than 20 seconds...why are you not pulling with your ranger, getting your headshot as its coming in, maybe getting another headshot while your are meleeing and doing more damage than you would with your bow? Are you killing mobs that are blue con humanoids with a full group and you are getting in lots of headshots somehow because Id like to know what I am missing hehe....

sorry op I got side tracked....

If you are killing mobs that are going to be alive for over a minute or more then maybe being an archer could generate more dps than meleeing but I doubt it unless youve got the classes for that.

If you have your tank which is meleeing and you have 2 other melees, I dont get what the more casters part means. You dont have more casters....

I had quite a few Moscow Mules, a couple of double IPA's and I think some Orin Swift The Prisoner...like the whole bottle. Not meant to sound like flaming! <3

You could add in your dps section blusterbolt / flusterbolt one time at 98% to make sure it is kicked away back into range of your range.... though well, you know the possible aggro ramifications of that. Cover tracks could also be incorporated but its got a longer cool down. Maybe between the two.
 
surfdog21 I'm sure Live 105 toons are a whole different story but on Ragefire against stationary unrooted mobs my Rangers double bow damage are out DPS ing my other melee classes pre-headshot (vs Epic monks/rogs). Unless the epic monk picks up Luclin or Vulak raid weps Rangers are ruling the roost atm.
 
Dont get me wrong, I know ranger bow dps atm and where its at dps wise in situations ie raid, group, blue con humanoids yada yada. If I thought it was all that on 20 second kills - I would make a few groups of rangers and just let them stand back and and plink away! It makes me jealous that it wasnt like this during Western Wastes/Vellious!
