Hello Everyone,

So people have told me if your coming back to EverQuest or just re-entering the game. Grab some friends and just go have fun !!!!

WRONG

I HAVE NO FRIENDS !!!!!!!!!! All the people I once knew are all gone and don't want to come back !!!!!

Your probably going to answer : GO MAKE NEW FRIENDS THEN

Hard to make new friends because in my experience , everyone is playing their own toons and own group boxes.

It's really tough to be a EQ player these days and its not easy to build relationships at all

I imagine most people here at some point felt similar... at least I know I did. Traditional EQ is dead for anyone not in a clique.. That is why I am here, I learned to run my own box crew. In the beginning, all these macs & plugins & luas (yes I pluralized Lua).. well, I was confused. Hang out, ask Qs & maybe you will find EQ can be fun again. My biggest hurdle was rewiring my brain to running a group from the tank's screen & letting go of my bond with my main" toon... Once I did, it all kinda fell into place ) and now every toon in my group is my "main" --- There are many ways to control your toons and many different automations... but, If you don't mind dropping a lil $$, get CWTTN Class plugins = EASIEST imo. Welcome to the best way to play )

edit-- and hey, this place is full of friendly folk, so yeah- you now have friends, we just don't make you join our groups to help us do our stuff, instead we help you figure out how you can do all your own stuffs )
 
I am confused... what you need friends for to play EQ? You have RG and MQ. Roll a group or two and get to it.

If you need someone to chat with, you have RG Discord.

This is all you need. Have fun!

You are asking about how to find people to play with on a site based on 6 boxing by yourself? You answered your own question. Run RedGuides, you instantly have the best teammates you can play with. They all go eat and get tired when you do. They all play at your speed, they all let you loot what you want. I roll with a great bunch of teammates thanks to RedGuides. I have loads of fun playing EQ still.
 
I am quite a recluse when it comes to EQ. Because I may need to bail at any given time I don't group with other people much because I know at some point I'll have to let them down.

That said I have toons in two active guilds on two different servers and there are always guildies looking to group up with somebody. If you are on a moderately populated server there's probably somebody in general looking to recruit.
 
Many of us get that social interaction elsewhere.
Mostly what Ryn said. We all shoot the shit in discord while we do our own thing in game (or work, or toilet, wherever really).

You may meet someone along the way anyhow (in or out of game), and work things out from there, but until then, you always have us shitters.

If you're running automation I think it's best to not have friends. Your friends aren't playing EQ(most folks) and these people can lead you down the road to no recovery.

If you are here, you don't need to make friends to play. MQ life is a lonely one anyway. It's generally not a good idea to make friends , as you are likely to get burned when one of your "friends" gets pissed about something you did, and reports you for "cheating".
 
My super secret technique - I have 0 friends on Live servers. I am not rude, but I actively avoid interaction with other people. I am here to do what I wanna do, all by my onesies. Given the state of THIS game, that is where I am at.

If I need/want to interact with people and still be in Norrath - then I recommend one of the EMU's. Old school experience to be had - groups like the old days - etc. I recommend Quarm atm as it has a healthy population and lots of active players at all hours from what I have seen and they added a LFG channel that people actually use. Just leave all mods at the door that are not approved etc on these servers.
 
Friends was a great option in 1999 or whatever. They're too unreliable now. If I want to do XYZ content, and I have a 90 minute window, I need to play NOW. Thus this community keeps growing as EQ, and its players, ages.

If making friends is what you are looking for, then I would suggest finding a guild that interacts and engages. I play on multiple servers, with different dynamics. One, I have a great guild that I engage with, group and raid. One, I am absolutely solo, I am my own group/guild, and I rarely interact with anyone. And there are a couple servers that it is a mix of both worlds. I have some friends that I have had for over 20 years now because of EQ. But I can say, that you are not going to make friends if you do not initiate a conversation. Even if that conversation begins in general chat with someone asking for assistance that you can absolutely help them with. How social you want to be is all up to you!
