Hey there, Could use some help figuring out an issuse I'm currently have with MQ. When I play without it loaded I have no issues, toons run as they should. After loading up MQ and logging in my toon becomes laggy. Not latency lag, more graphics lag. I move a couple feet then freeze for a quick second. This is continuous unless I log out and turn off MQ. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have Chrome installed, make sure its updated. Dont ask me why, but on one of my PC's it causes hiccups when it needs to be updated.

I made sure he wasn't running any virus scanners, had him add cpu affinity and I am scratching my head too. He just bought this PC second hand, but the specs he gave me should be more than enough to run multiple instances of EQ.

would definitely check you don't have antivirus or file syncing constantly doing those things - it is often suggested to whitelist your mq and eq folders from those things

Your computer is probably not strong enough or you got too many things running in the background.

Try disabling background applications and see if that helps

"your computer is probably not strong enough" it is more likely that this is entirely inaccurate

Yeah, I run six accounts on a dinosaur dual core laptop with an ancient video card. Anything stronger than a graphing calculator is probably fine until you push 6+ accounts.. Ram is the biggest limiting factor for EQ.

I know this may sound insane, but unplug all your USB devices and borrow a different keyboard & mouse if they are USB (likely are). What you are describing in the time frame sounds a lot like USB polling requests hanging the system. That can happen if a USB device starts failing and hanging up the poll response. I had an old joystick plugged in that did that to my system, even though I wasn't using it at the time.

It would be helpful to know some system specs, and what OS you are using as well for better guidance.

I am pretty sure he bought this one. He was looking at 2.

ASUS M5A78
FX 8320 8 core (4.0GHz turbo)
MSI RX 580 Graphics
DDR3 corsair 16GB
240 GB SSD

He can correct me if he bought the better version. But this is better than my PC and I run 6 without a hitch.

yes this is the one i went with

Long shot, but I have ran into issues with systems that would auto apply an overclock, push the power supply too hard, and end up trying to overshoot the limits of the supply (regardless if the processes actually call for the power or not). What power supply are you running and is it bronze, gold, titanium as far as efficiency? Also, what version of OS? That may be helpful. And, post the driver version you are running. Maybe even roll back the driver once.

check for programs that OC your video card, like MSI AFterburner. Disable / uninstall them and see if it runs normally then. Its most likely that a another program is causing interference with MQ. I have also has Malwarebytes cause issues with EQ and lag as it was trying to scan the log file full time.
I would try for a minimalist boot and play eq / run mq and see if you have the same issues. If not start turning on your programs that normally run 1 at a time till you figure out what is messing you up.

@tduclos88 Have you looked at fire wall settings? Try deleting config files. I have used system restore more times than i can remember.

I improved my lag by leaps and improved the look. I deleted the eqgame fire wall stuff and redid it . Deleted my ui files, eq ini, and reset the ui. Redid my game options. bam something went right.

I had usb head phones cause similar issues . good luck

He solved the issue. It was a permissions issue. The guy that sold him the PC had some wonky setting that he couldn't undo so he just ended up wiping the drive and starting over. He is now boxing again. Thank you for all the suggestions.

Yes thank you all for the help and advice. I tried it all but what it came down to permissions issues. Formatting and starting fresh actually fixed a couple issues I was having. When in doubt format it out lol.
