Set up: 6 box roughly lvl 95 - SK, CLR, ENC, WIZ, RNG, MAG

Theoretically I could add 4 more 85-90 toons (other accounts), but the 6 man team is very manageable.

Twinked mainly with Fear Touched (ROF T1) gear. Only the SK is Gold account, and therefore the only with augs. None are heroic so for all but the SK AA's go from 1k to 5k, done the old way (or HS PL'd with my ranger lol). The SK is on auto grant (mixed feelings on that!).

I've been grinding from 90 for some time now and would like a change from it, maybe spend 3-4 hours on a raid. I stumbled on it as I've retired my bard for now, and want overhaste!

Been looking at two raids to try:

Anguish:

OMM has an overhaste clicky, and I remember spending all Sunday raiding Anguish. Might be a laugh to try for old times sake. Not sure if you still have to go through every other named first?

Big Bynn's Return

Never actually raided it (gave up after raiding Dreadspire). But it looks neat

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=4381

And might drop a non-prestige overhaste, which would be useful for my ranger:- http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=71421

Anyone got ideas for raids that are fun, maybe not *too* challenging for my setup?

OMM still requires you to go through all the other namers. On the bright side, you can get orbs for epic 2.0s, if you ever feel like doing those for your team.

Are you dead set on trying the raids for fun? Because if not, there’s easier overhaste clickies to be had, iirc.

Might be a thread all on itself....

Yeah, some old school raids that are on groupable would be fun.

I always do DeathKnell #1 for all my alts for a Raid Speed Horse (GhostRider). OMM is easy raid (pretty much all of CoA is), but in my experience, he doesn't drop the overhaste item very often. I think I got it one time, but maybe I was just super unlucky. I ended up farming overhaste from SoD raids, but I was lvl 100 with Gold accounts by the time I tried farming with my group to raise my overhaste over 8%. Think Solteris dropped several overhaste items, and I don't believe they are Prestige (not positive of that though). Always is fun to have to figure out how you can complete a raids specific requirements rather then just disintegrate the mob with your vastly superior weapons and gear.

I haven’t tried deathknell for a damn long time. Can you refresh the info? It’s basically just killing mobs before they reach the bell in the middle of the room correct? I have the horse on a real old toon but would love to get it again on an up to date one.

Also I’m sure this has been asked tons and I’m 99% sure I’ve seen posts on it before but since we are on the subject of old raids - has anyone done Demi-Plane recently? It’s probably the only old raid I’ve never ever done, the hails in the sisters event puts me off.

You are correct. Phase 1 You line up and keep each "side" from making it to the bell. No burn or special anything really. you pretty much can ignore the adds and the wandering NPC. It's just long because there is a timer regardless, so you have to wait for the next phase to start (15 minutes or something like that). When the gargs go active you do need to kill them pretty fast as they can cast that DT dot same as the gargs in Demi. Spreading Stone or whatever. RGC removes it.

Haven't done Demi with a boxed grp, for the same reason you haven't. Wasn't sure how I could do sisters event so I never really tried since nothing I really wanted from Demi except maybe get the baby necro her 2.5.

Yeah I second deathknell.. fun little raid, and some cool loot drops.. not only skelly horse mount, but also chance for some non-prestige aura clickies too of decent rank..

and for anguish runs, pick up a jayruks vest for your toons that could use.. the clicky on the BP is still useful even at 110 (on some classes... not all unfortunately)

Cool, I never did raid Deathknell so that would be fun. And now I have realised my ranger only has the 1.5 epic there's more reason to do so.
I will have to check the BP's for my group to see who/what is most useful (SK/CLR/RNG/MAG/WIZ/ENC).

Need the chest on SK, for sure. Rest might be meh, but I still use the SK one on raids when everything else is on cooldown.

A page that describes all the raid content in this game would be amazing. I know all of classic, kunark, some of velious, but none of luclin. A bit of PoP and GoD era, and that's about it. I am currently playing a new group that I plan to play through the entire EQ from the start. I am level 49 and I am not looting any defiant. I want to do Naggy and Vox in mostly era appropriate gear and levels. I am cutting a few corners but mostly I am on track. Then I'll do all of Kunark, and all of Velious and then hopefully I will finally get to raid all of Luclin which I missed out on when it was new. I did some of this before and it was really fun, although it was hard to do some raids without any knowledge of their mechanics.

Tacvi is HELLA easy. SOD T1 is very boxable, Queen Malarian or some such. The first two Solteris events are boxable. Event 3 is doable with a necro, but I don’t have one good enough to beat that and my DPS is far too great to do the script. As soon as I get three more groups up to level, I plan on hitting lots of raids, starting old and ending in the newest xpac my event scripting can handle. This should be a fun thread.

I've done VoA T1, HoT is easy (although there's some bs you need to do in order to request). I like going back and doing those to gear up heroics toons (just for fun).

Yeah i really enjoyed doing the GoD raids.. that solteris raid with the two giants... then they break down to more etc etc.. but you gotta keep them within 5% health the whole time.. that was a tough one.. necro with that pet detonation spell was the only way i could do it lol.. fun times tho!

Try "A Council Divided". The first Field of Scale raid in SoD. Was a lot of fun for me to figure out a way to box (finishing blow is not your friend in this).

There are some mob balance macros here that will help with the Solteris balance event. I also think SKs get the detonation spell, as well.

ahh cool, will have to check those out.. cuz yeah the SoD one Council Divided i remember having a hell of a time doing at a higher level.. slowing down that DPS was the key more than anything.. equip the non-dps in primary, and kick/bash/slam your way to the win lol

I regularly solo Solteris on my monk, farming illusions mainly.

For event 3 I switch to a non riposte weapon set and manually balance them - I did try using the balance macros floating around here, but for some reason they would always lead me to a fail. Also remember to turn of /autoskill. Once you know the event it’s actually very easy to do on any class that can dual wield and use non risposte dmg weapon set.

so, what do you do on your monk, just lower lvl disc/aa to dps them slowly so as to not get out of that 5%-10% limit they can be? and just cycle targets while doing so? Its been a while but i seem to remember having stupid problems with my SK trying that.. and it was before /autoskill was a thing.. and no DS's up or anything.. but its been a while now, and i'm a bit hazy.. time for a refresh :)

the balance mac i have I use on a toon that has 15aa so attacking them is no problem, my tank will have a mod rod on and no shield. I run the macro and the gimp alt will do the dmg I rinse and repeat till completed.

I use a non DMG item in primary and then a COTF raid 1h in my secondary - so i'm not riposting and the DMG output isnt too high. I just cycle through them clicking the highest % mob constantly, I'm usually sweating by the end of it :P I don't use any discs really unless it's on the first set of mobs because they have the highest HP and the disc wont send me out of sync.

Used to do this one quite easily with SK pet. Use a reasonably high level pet and just send it against the mob on extended target with the highest health. Problem with using a PC is that Banestrike now triggers automatically, which can add a ton of unwanted damage...

what causes banestrike to trigger now? Its funny, i stopped seeing the spikes animation from it a while ago, and i honestly didnt think about that til just now.. if you are not riposting or actively attacking using sk, and just using specific abilities/discs/spells, would that not protect from an accidental dps burst via banestrike?

I think it can fire from any offensive combat ability now.
