With Frostreaver launching without TrueBox, how toxic will this server will be with krono farmers. I understand that there's expedition locking which is great, but it can easily be abused, which we did quite a bit on Oakwynd (which made parts toxic...)

I feel this will be a Krono Farmers dream come true and will create a huge pay to win server.

All these people think using mq from the start is their wet dream gonna see what happens when the most bonkers ruleset in a very long time (if not ever) has 180000 boxers running around being assholes.

What is expedition locking? I feel like I should look into this.

I’ve been playing on Fangbreaker since November and I have to say I liked it a lot more with TrueBox. The whole dynamic of the server shifted.
I plan on going to FR and am excited for day one mayhem.

Most people I know won't be on this server till things calm down around PoP. I know of 6 different raids all boxed that won't be going till then.

I missed out on Mischief & Teek, so I've never played a free trade, but I did see how crazy the EC tunnel was on Teek, seemed like a lot of items were going for just a krono or two max, raid gear from VT and stuff. But I didn't see most of it, looking forward to trying a free trade.

its gonna be super easy, and very casual friendly, yes you will have people who just buy things with krono so the farmers will be around, but its gonna be so much influx of loot and coin.

I had tons of fun on Ragefire and Rizlona. As far as being pay-to-win I just never got that with Everquest. What exactly is there to win? I don't really considering paying $20 for a Stein of Moggok or $200 for a Blade of Carnage "winning".

The winners will the ones who no life it for the first couple weeks and make hundreds from people who have fomo and buy stuff before their guild get to the content. There will be tons of GDKP raids so tons of stuff will be bought/sold on the server. after a month or so it will stabilize and be normal, but those first few weeks will be so much influx. Should be fun if you take a normal approach to it play with people and/or box, and just have fun with it. Also if your in a DKP raid and you sell what you win, you will prob get booted, def not worth that kinda rep.

true box doesnt remove kr farmers there are branches of mq out there that by pass both the truebox limitation on mq and the truebox limitation on eq.

its going to be a super rizlona and as someone who played on rizlona until they shut us down and someone who has farmed krono on other tlps. not like a ton a few hundred per server. its going to be insanely toxic until early pop after pop it will be less toxic but the toxicity will depend on the amount of anti boxing karens on the server.

on rizlona we had people who were boxing 72 and trying to be a krono lord but werent breaking even. we had people just trying to 72box being terrible at it and being a sort of meance to what ever zone they were in. we had people 72 boxing and being great at it and being actual krono lords. we also had single boxers grouping up to do zland splits and for awhile we had a few different guilds that were just 10ish people who all 6 box and if they had enough people on to do a raid they did.

also on mischief and teek after pop there was alot less krono changing hands then you think stuff gets cheap fast and krono gets expensive fast. you basically have to spam shout for krono or automate that yourself.

boxing on mischief was very fun i didnt have to raid i could just chill and do my thing and spend less plat then i earned farming stuff / task adding randos to have really good raid gear. as long as you dont care about bis and are willing to settle for 2nd or 3rd bis and dont play a monk your stuff is insanely cheap. monk weapons until they start only using 2hs in rof / cotf are expensive just because you need two and there is never enough.

it will probably hit plers though super xp + being able to box should atleast to me mean alot less people willing to buy pls when an hour a day 2-6boxing will max out your aa.

with all of that said if you play on the server before pop launches those accounts are in serious jeopardy moreso then just normal mq use.

The servers going to be a shit show initially...

I think it'll level out over time. If you have interest in playing this past PoP, i feel this will be the best server the game will have to make a run to live EQ on.

I've not been playing since PoP Riz time, however long ago that was 4-5 years? Is using MQ now to try and box like 12-18 on Frostreaver even going to work, or will you get instantly reported? Or is the best bet running a single group and even then at risk?

Using MacroQuest in any form is against their policy, so yes it's at risk. That said, have fun, make more guys, you might be lucky for awhile, even when ban waves happen, through all the posts of us saying 3 banned, 5 banned....there are plenty more users not getting touched.

You are talking about a new server where they finally gave in to a slew of things to make players happy, also coming in after the macroquest issue where we had uncertainty of it being available for Live, this caused some people to leave caused disruption in raiding guilds, DBG may have noticed and possibly will take a less strict approach to Frostreaver. We will all find out together.

I tend to try and stick to own instances etc where I can and don't try much OW stuff, I guess let's see and hope for the best.

Will probably just stick to one group at the start, see how that goes and can use those chars to help PL the next lot if that goes well.

shoudlnt expect people to read the server rules for boxing, let alone report you for the wrong things. it is 2026 after all, its hard enough to get people to google something to find the info.

I'm just going to roll my six and have fun. Looking into various guilds, think I might give a GDKP guild a try for once and see how it goes. I think intra-guild play is going to be fairly reasonable, personally, but the wider population might have issues with each other - but that's true for all TLPs. Rampant training, arguments over camps, people being nasty with shit like 'according to DBG camps don't exist', etc. Encounter locking will only go so far to alleviate some of this.

Shit's gonna be toxic at launch. It always is. We'll just have to see how things level out over time.

I'm rolling a 3 box and so is my partner. I won't be using any tools at the start because early EQ = easy. I'm excited for this ruleset mostly because of the removal of TrueBox restrictions and free trade. FTE I could do without but it's not a big deal to me. 72 Boxing doesn't seem very economical, you don't need 72 characters to make a ton of krono. If you're spending 72 krono per month just to stay active, you are doing it wrong

I think AoC was one of the best things added to EQ. I just PoP flagged another toon and loved it. The 6 day lockout is a bit long in my opinion though.

It is a proper shit show, I've played tonight and joined 3 groups, each time the group is just full of boxes with most of the characters sat on there ass doing nothing. People are just expecting the single players to carry their boxes, very frustrating, hoping it will balance out in time......

Not saying it can't work, but long term Krono dies down a lot and you would have to be funding it somehow, maybe I am wrong

And the primary reason people bought them in the beginning was to trade for plat; nowadays they're also used for rare items but you could (probably) still get them with equivalent plat.
But with plat flowing like class 5 rapids I wonder who is still buying krono? I have thought that the reason krono are now 6.5m plat on my server (up from 5m just a year ago) is because the supply is dwindling because far fewer people need/want to buy krono to trade in game.
Is there an aspect of the farming process I'm not aware of?

People buy Krono for any number of reasons. A lot of the people that constantly spam for buying Krono use Krono for RMT (Real money transactions). There is nothing inherently "wrong" with buying and selling Krono. And yes, any net new Krono is purchased from DBG. When I used to spend money on the game I would only add Krono to the system by purchasing new and use the plat to buy spells or vanity claimables because I am limited on play time.

The part that is toxic is when some bad actors will do ANYTHING to get that Krono. Cheat, exploit, scam, create chaos. On the server that I played on specifically they ran toons with pocketfarm or some other automation nearly 24/7 and it caused conflict with normal players constantly. When I came back a few years ago I first encountered these Bots and learned to co-exist by scavenging the corpses of named for armor I needed at the time. When I was near the end of my playing on Live I stopped spending money on DBG so I needed to farm plat for Krono to grind AA on some alts - I was always at the computer and if I saw anyone else while my toon was running around I would shut it down.

Specifically for Frostreaver, I bet there is someone set up in OS or some other similar zone with high gem/coin drop rates with like 20-40 mage boxes or more running whatever automation on multiple picks farming plat. If they are not there yet, they will be. These same bad actors will use warp and other hacks and do NOT care. It gives what we are trying to do on RG a bad name. A lot of people will grind out plat and buy Krono on TLPs just because the starting rate on Krono there is cheaper and it is easier to grind out that lower price than 5-10 mil depending on what server you normally play on. Buying of Krono will uptick around the release of the next expac when it is time for the next grind to complete content in a month.

I see a lot of boxes running around, but as of yet (high-30s character) I haven’t been negatively impacted by a boxer. My random group mates who have been boxing 1-2 characters have been more proficient at it than when I’ve been in groups with boxers on prior TLPs.

Live XP and the resource hunter bonuses mean leveling is insanely quick. Very alt-friendly server overall. Long time until Luclin launches so I have time to build my characters and just chill in the early eras of EQ which are my favourite (I could do a year of Classic honestly). No rush to cram it all into an 8-week cycle.

As a person who loves boxing and hasn’t boxed once on one of the most box-friendly TLPs to launch, I’m finding it very playable (so far, knock on wood)!

I've been in a similar boat, been 6 boxing for nearly 10 years but I'll probably run a single toon for time time being until it gets a little painful. I'm not overly thrilled with the idea of raiding velious or luclin currently so my plan is to sub, get 60, unsub until luclin drops and then max my AAs and unsub again until PoP.
