I was wondering if everyone is enjoying frostreaver tlp what box is everyone running I was thinking a lot about enchanter cleric druid or even monk bard Druid or monk bard shaman I tried war cleric ench but not sure what would be great for this tlp all the way up to live any thoughts ? Hope you all having fun.

monks are so strong early

Back when i was a young warthog my nec/clr combo was awesome, but i was always a smidge jelly of a monk/shm duo

I personally like to run a full group whenever i can

Well, of the three choices you've given, I'd choose MNK, BRD, SHM. Clearly, you are fond of the MNK class, but I'd much rather have an SK as the front for this trio. Much stronger, and more versatile.

All the usual suspects work fine.

Having a porter is more important here because you want to get around to the different zone bonuses and we already have 3 continents to choose from. At the very least I'd recommend having a pocket porter.

The best class for any 2 or 3 box is still a chanter because charm is still OP.

I started with PAL/DRU/ENC and then added BST/MAG/NEC later on. I'm switching out the Necro for something else though.

Beastlords have proven to be kind of weird. The pet is really strong, but itemization for them sucks at this stage. The monk weapons are mostly monk only at this point, so we can't piggy back on the great monk items like we can in later expansions. My BST still does great damage though, so I can't complain.

It really just comes down to how you want to play.

At the end of the day, ENC/CLR/DRU will be way stronger than MNK/BRD/SHM for quite some time. But, if you don't like the charm playstyle, anything works.

I'm only playing a 6box currently (honestly havent boxed more than that in a long time since Ragefire) but having a good time. First time I've played free trade and it feels like EQ was meant to be played that way - the random loot is very cool, but sometimes it feels like there is too much of it, it's fun though. I might expand to more but really liking the group I'm running right now. Best advice I can give you is learn how to tank, heal, and dps and make a group that synergizes well.

Trying something totally different this time, Cleric, chanter, bard 3x mage. Not sure how long mage pet tanking is going to be viable for so just in case will level up a war on a 7th account and maybe a porter aswell

The sounds good but, what do you think of pal shaman bard I know not much dps but maybe survival a lot?
If you're taking the team to live, ditch the shaman for a wizard. Not sure when exactly paladins can solo heal group content but iirc you can do it pretty early on if you get good gear.
Slows are important though, so maybe enchanter would be better (slows + Uber charm pets)

Honestly, play what you like early. If you want to meta chase, personas exist and xp is only going to get faster (it’s already insane).

I understand your concern, but the best defense is killing sh_t quickly. High DPS = improved survival. A paladin will do fine, and you will get some buffs/heals that will complement you SHM's buffs, but you sacrifice some DPS. There's a reason SKs are so popular. If anything, the only class I'd consider substituting in this trio is the BRD for an ENC.

If you're really set on building a 3 box that's going to last until live, just take TANK/CLR/ENC. In a couple years you'll be able to add mercs to help with dps.

All of the tank classes are completely fine. It mostly just comes down to personal preference.

The shaman will let you down in healing during mid-level expansions. DBG didn't really balances healers well from like 70ish - 100ish so a shaman will struggle there, especially in a small group. When I'm bootstrapping new teams on live, I always take a cleric until 100+. I'll sometimes switch to a shaman after that, but clerics are great for the whole game.

Enchanter is the only option for real CC in older content and can provide much needed DPC until charm starts to fall off in later expansions.

I personally think it's a mistake to try to build a 3-box now that will last you for four years. The game changes so much over expansions that it's hard to pick any setup that's great in all eras. Enchanter charm is really powerful now, but it's not even worth casting at high levels. Bards are great at high levels, but are strictly worse at everything for a long time (except run speed). You want ports now, but once PoP and the GH unlocks you'll never need them again. Etc.

It's trivial to PL new toons later on, so I think it's better to focus on what you're going to enjoy now and worry about later expansions when they unlock, if you're still playing these dudes. As @fohpo said, you can always use persona later on chase the meta.

There will always be more TLPs and more chances to try new strategies.

Running ranger, clr enc, having the ranger to off tank when charm breaks is nice. Speaking of that anyone know where the setting is for rgmercs to have the enc retash when charm breaks? I just recently started using it and cant find it.

Do you think it’s all that bad for 3 boxing war cleric ench in the long run from the tlp to live I know no snare but overall harder content because warrior and cc and mana regen from ench and heals cleric. For raiding and group content, supporting people and doing epics and stuff?
