Four box setup

What are you going for? Full self sustainability? Best let's add others group? Best let's go see what we can 4 box without anyone else? Changes answer a bit.

Also depends on what you are using to assist you in boxing. I box on agnarr without using programs and play a chanter , cleric x2 mages. I have a druid alt for ports when needed. If you are getting fancy with a program my setup would be a sk , cleric , chant , mage or necro. I'm sure there are better but personally I would feel very comfortable running that comp

On Phinigel, I was running SK/Shaman/Wizard/Necro for a while, it worked very well for what I was doing, but I kinda wish I had added an enchanter or a bard.

I 4box on Agnarr. I can do about anything 1 groupable that I want with the following setup:

SK-tank
Cleric-healer
Enc-cc
Mage-DPS

You could enjoy swapping out the Cleric for a shm, but it doesnt make as much sense for melee buffs with only the SK. Plus I have slow with the ENC. And it's so hard to not love Rez.

You could also swap out the SK with other tank, but I just can't stop playing SK due to FD pull ability.

ENC is just better than a bard in almost every situation. I would not swap that out.

Mage is the one that is more interchangeable. I would highly advise sticking to a caster DPS though due to control of boxing. Way more convenient than melee with proper macros. Also, some folks would like a porter in this spot, however I don't port "that much", and there are always ample people all over the place to get ports from when you really want to move around.

Hope this helps.

on phinny I played paladin/cleric/shaman/monk. It was pretty effective with full buffs, and the monk for dps. paladin cantank just about anything. I eventually added a ranger to the mix for some extra dps.

On Agnarr I went war/enc/clr/wiz/mag..just because casters are much easier to maintain while boxing. just hotkeys and no worry about being in melee range.

all in all though, it depends on what your goals are, and what you wish to accomplish with your box team.

War/Clr/Wiz/Ench

War/Clr is standard.

Wizard will provide good DPS with 0 effort and ports.

Enchanter will be able to cc/slow as well as haste your warrior and give mana regen to your wizard.

SK - Snares AC taps FD HP Taps (been boxing SK for 17 years. Have a maxed out war but prefer SK for tanking)
Mage - Modern pets are excellent backup / ramp tanks. Mod rods CoH Sustained DPS
Cleric (Only IF you dont want to merc. The maxed out merc cleric is amazing currently)
Bard- Excellent Mez amazing ADPS and can drag a Mage ANYWHERE with fade to set up camps. Use my DAd Bard in Droga and Chardok to drag mage, pop merc for rez and within minutes anywhere in zone.
WIZY - IF you are going to use a merc for heals. OR do a Wizy Cleric account for ports alone if you must.

I have a maxed out chanter and maxed out bard on the same account. Chanter is 16 years old, bard is 3. I almost always only use my bard these days instead of chanter.

We're talking progression servers..

I want to try and farm what I can without NEEDING others, but willing to add more when I can.

Currently I am running a Ranger,Bard,Shaman,Rogue ( the ranger is my tank ) but I think swapping the ranger out for a tank class like SK, would make the group way more powerful.

Tank, Bard , Monk/Rogue , Shaman/Cleric

The tank would be your choice, but I know in the group game SK's are very powerful. The bard compliments everyone and you get run speed 24/7 which is amazing. Between Monk and Rogue both can put out great DPS now and in the future. Shaman gives you slows/heals/buffs and compliments melee dps very well. Clerics over all will heal better and have more survival tricks for group.

I'd go with a knight for your tank. Warriors are very gear dependent for aggro and tanking, but a knight will be able to hold aggro much easier. SK has snare, FD, and more DPS. Pally has a back up rez in case cleric dies, group heals, etc.

Cleric - best heals, rez, best buffs

Enchanter - crack, haste, mez - as powerful as bards are, the enchanter is going to be better + depending on your skill you can do a charm pet for a LOT of extra DPS

4th spot - DPS + utility - Options:
Druid - Snare, Ports, back up heals, DS, Dots, Nukes - lots of utility, but not the best at anything
Wiz - DPS, ports, snare
Mage - Pet, DS, mod rods, DPS
Necro - Pet, FD, Snare, Dots (not really great in group game atm), Rez (nice wipe saver)
Ranger - Autofire is very OP at the moment, rangers stay decent DPS, nice back up tank in a pinch, Weaponshield, snare
Zerker - DPS, Snare

That 4th slot is where you can get creative, but I'd stick with the trinity of Knight, Cleric, Enchanter. That 4th slot you can't really go wrong, but pick something that fits your play style too.
