It's been 20 years since I've browsed about EQ while at work. Interesting how the addiction has come back after so much time. I'm finding myself looking at allakhazam a lot to plan out my next zones to explore. There's a crapton of content to check out. Might even try some epic quests.

And I'm already thinking about my next group. I'm thinking WAR/PAL, SHM, BRD, MNK, ROG, RNG.

I also really like the discord, many helpful people there who have graciously aided this noob!

Considering your choices of:

WAR/PAL, SHM, BRD, MNK, ROG, RNG

I would also consider using an SK in place of the WAR because they can feign death pull/snare and help self-heal with taps and slightly add combat buffs with the taps that weaken mobs and buff the group.
So you probably don't need a monk if the tank can also break camps and pull. I have a monk still but it mostly collects dust, I am hoping they add cool stuff for monks later kinda like a monk/rog hybrid like a ninja that can slip into shadows and appear behind mobs and backstab or shoot fireballs like Ryu and use poisons and grenades like flashbangs or smoke bombs but daybreak isn't making new content it just copy pastes old zones these days so not sure that will ever happen.

You say you want to try epics so a bard or rog is good for picking locks but I wouldn't make a party with both I would pick either a rog and enchanter (so you get lock pick, crowd control, and buffs and I would make a gnome rog so you get tinkering and poison making for your group) or bard and Berserker (for slightly lower lock picking and crowd control and some buffs then the good dps of the berserker)

That leaves the shaman and ranger, SHM is good if you want lots of buffs and you will want a healer but if you picked the enchanter above you have the group haste, mana regen, and slow handled so I would get like a mage for dmg shield, pet gear for sk/enc pets and pet dps and they can call your group to the location of the mage which helps in getting around zones fast; I would ditch the ranger for a druid so you have run speed and teleports/evac and heals if you didn't get the shm earlier or just a wizard if you don't need run speed always on or went with the bard and shm earlier and can use bard ludicrous speed.

But all that said, just pick the classes you enjoy playing and you are sure to still have a good time.
Remember it's just a game and we all die in the end, so enjoy the journey (edit: unless you picked the druid or wizard in which case you just teleport to your destination)

Don't know if it technically counts as an accessory, but been tempted to pull the trigger on a Steamdeck in order to try that work around I saw on the site to play EQ on it.

I think I was still traveling when this thread started and I just saw it today. I went through the ENTIRE thread looking for chairs and there is exactly 1. I need a new chair, my stolen Aeron chair just doesn't do it for me.

I want a pink, L shape, standing desk. Yes, such a thing does exist. It's so purrrdy!

I had an L-Shaped desk and while that one you linked looks really cool (ehh, in carbon black or whatever for me though) I cannot recommend enough the uplift curved desks. It's customizable and configurable and one of the accessories is a hammock.

. All I would like to have is a reclining gaming chair. That would help the old knees out.

My most favorite thing about you is that you posted a picture so I could see it before clicking the link, but my second most favorite thing is you posted a chair and it's not just any chair, it's a reclining MASSAGE chair. If you get this chair I have to know if it works out.

Steamdeck OLED just came out and I am so tempted. I have a Steamdeck now and when I was traveling all the time it was amazing just to be able to pull it out and play games. Baldur's Gate 3 runs really well on it and since you don't have to be online I could play that while flying~ (But EQ works when you're not flying)

I'm just glad I joined here. I was feeling jaded playing EQ on my own and not really getting anywhere. RG has enabled me to break through those walls and I'm back to enjoying Everquest all over again.

Don't fall into the same mistake I did... dual 3.5 ghz 16-core processors with 128gb of ram 10TB raid setup... However, the thing only came with 685W power supply because virtualization servers off-load the graphics processing. So, I throw in an 400W graphics card. which is too much for it. If I turn on particle effects and warm up the graphics card it will instantly shut the computer off. Then on top of that the thing significantly heats up a room and is loud as hell. As if I don't get into enough hot water as it is, I've got this smart meter on the house snitching me out to the wife about how much electricity my computer consumes lol. So now, I get to hear about it every time the electric bill is due. MAAAAAAAAAAN, I love being married!

I'll second this. I started my RedGuides journey with a dual E5-2699 server with 512gb ram and enough PS overhead to fit an RX580. Ran everything like a champ, as long as I didn't mind mimicking sitting inside a jet engine, both in temperature and sound. Recently switched out to an 7700X + 4070 w/ 64gb ram and 6-12 boxes run just as smoothly and I'm not damaging my hearing or looking like an illegal grow op on thermal imaging...

Excellent post Mr. Sic Think Everquest would survive without RG nowadays, lol might even cause another sale. Figure all the level 2 accts x up to 6 EQ accts. We account for a sizable volume of mixed-level accounts. Btw, now that I've been charged, what exactly does being charged "1 point" mean to me? Oh, and I'm sorry/won't ever happen again. There must be a forum/post explaining all this to dummies, please direct me.

The desk is critical I've found. Sharing it between work and an EQ empire is definitely a space constraint.

Custom made set of backlight compatible keycaps for Cherry-MX keys, where the EQ Class logo shines through, plus one that says "Red Guides". I would use 6 of them replace my function keys that are the mapped hotkeys to switch screen to group members. And the Redguide key to launch directly to the these forums of course!

what a great idea. I would no longer need a cheat sheet to remember what I bound my G1 through G8 keys on my Corsair Keyboard to do!
