no. RG has no plans on supporting that
Understood, is the reason due to legality, demand, possibility or just not interested? Genuine my curiosity to see if it would ever be a possibility.

I see what happened to THJ so thought maybe you guys found a niche and didn’t want to get into a similar mess with that by stepping in a different area.

MQ/RG is a boxing community for EQ1, not eq2, not landmark, not EQL.

the reality is EQL team just had a huge lawsuit over THJ to the amount of $3m+ dollars and then basically launched THJ 2.0. I dunno about you, but I really don't want to see dbg burn down eq1 or mq/rg for some other game that is going to probably need a scapegoat if it fails - many folks are of the opinion that they used THJ as a scapegoat for some of the failed TLPs (before this current one and the next one later this year. which will probably be successful as well).

DBG hasn't had a lot of communication with "the community" after holly left - but the communication they did have had an emphasis about encouraging folks to leave truebox alone.

Some of the folks that are involved in EQL definitely, factually, objectively "sold out" MQ and the MQ community to make it happen. I'm of the personal opinion that that dick measuring contest isn't worth it.

We just want to play EQ1 the way we want to play it - EQ1, MQ and RG will hopefully still be here despite of the success or failure of EQL.

DBG just gave "us" a non-truebox tlp and have another one later this year. We're gonna leave the truebox other game alone.

cosigned. and in the non-dbg realm we have servers that actively want us there.

As much of a fan of multi-classing as I am, I will never understand the draw people have for these interactive screensaver type of "games". You show up, everything falls down and you're rewarded with meaningless numbers floating around the screen. They are meaningless because you were never under any threat or needed any skill to win. Might as well just play a clicker game, it's the same thing with less moving around. EQ2 was great, then wow released and 3 months later they hit the EZmode button, then EQ2 was awful. EQL is clearly EZmode from day 1. I mean I get it, we all need a mindless thing to do from time to time but no way I'm paying a monthly fee to play one of those. Games like that are freebies you pick up here and there, not this abomination.

This is the one statement that I've heard against EQL that has made me pause. Without knowing details, that part sours me a bit.

The random comments from others in this thread against people enjoying a game that matches their playstyle is a choice I guess but just seems unnecessary. Having said that, I also don't really understand why there have been repetitive requests about bringing further automation to a game that removes all barriers that automation would be helpful to get around.

For me personally (not intended to sell anything to anyone), live wasn't fun without the help of the tools this site's team builds/supports. RG allowed me to play the latest content. Without it, I couldn't. I could have switched to FTP and throw away accounts, but I don't mind paying subscriptions for a game I enjoy and play to experience new things without impacting the gameplay of others.

I still love the original EQ world and game. EQL may long term run out of things to keep my interest but at the moment it fills a void for me that has the right amount of nostalgia.

Unfortunately, absolutely, nobody asking the question is going to read it. Otherwise, they would have caught it the six other times it was asked.

I’ll be honest I think they knew all this ahead of time and put out a crap TLP they knew would fail just to have ammo to go after THJ because EQL was on the works.

Although just want to kill the rumors that EQL is an Emu or using THJ code. Neither of these is true. It’s completely different from THJ uses no THJ code. It does not use EMU Server code it uses the Live EQ code base. Yes, the Game Jawn team is made up of EMU Devs. I’m still going to play I totally enjoyed beta.

well for clarify in case there is confusion (lots of people seem to be picking and choosing what things they're actually reading/comprehending/keeping with regards to eql) i didn't say, don't think, imply, or otherwise that they're "using thj code" - they certainly took ideas/concepts that folks seemed to like from thj and ran with those ideas - some of those ideas had existed for years earlier from other EMUs (classless server, for example) - but also D&D had/has multiclassing since like 1974 - some even popularized if not created/invented/thought-of or at least *implemented* by some of the game jawn team (secrets). Lots of folks seem to have the *actual* thj server code - I know of at least 1 set of birdbrains who seem to think it is a good idea to fire up an EMU with the literal copypaste full thj code - so hopefully that doesn't bring more negativity to the emu community as a whole.

for additional clarity - I hope EQL is successful, but i'm also emphatical about wishing that EQL doesn't end up pushing too much of the "fancy ideas" over to live. 4k scaling? sweet do it! multiclassing on live? no please no

I don't want to speak out of turn. I believe they could run an Emu with multiclass as long as they stuck with the EQEMU guidelines/TOS and didn't charge people money or collect donations for items like THJ did. Still risky, but legally could fall into that realm of "It's ok"

I also hope for the success of DB and DarkPaw because EQ is a game I want to see around for as long as possible for nostalgia reasons. But for my own reasons I refuse to assist monetarily with that success any longer. I have moved on from EQ for now and am doing other things on other games. I still linger here because this community is super fantastic and I can talk about stuff without fear of being shut down. Well, shut down for reasons that are outside of being a complete jackass, but I wouldn't do that.

Simple starting tip:

In the tutorial is a type of Boot that has a SoW-like clicky. You can stay in the tutorial for awhile and get the boot to +3 so that the clicky becomes an augment that you can put on later feet items. You can also have the boots on your feet and two more in the other slots when first starting to adventure. Killing the skeletons that respawn are one way to get multiple copies. You can also buy the boots for 15p in-game to get boots to level 3 at some point so if you want to get right in and play and not wait that is an option.

The boots drop at level 0. Merging two level 0 will give you a +1. Combining two +1 will give you a +2 boot and combing two +2 will give you the +3.

My recommendation is getting one boot to +2 and then two more to +1 and wearing all 3 to start and then when you get a better pair of boots and a better item to go in the other slot like a shield, then make the +3 and take the aug and put on your new feet. This would require getting 8 boots (+0) in the tutorial.

The game is actually pretty fun. Worth 20 bucks to give it a spin.
I love it! After nearly 30 years, we are OLD, have families, jobs, responsibilities. Dadcore is my speed these days :-)

The question you have to ask yourself is it fun enough to pay $10 a month to help find bugs for them or fun enough that you can afford to through $10 away on something that they could have done to live to make it more "FUN"

Zeb
Totally worth it. In fact, I'm going to buy the 24 slot 80% bags for $10 each, and a few other "Perks" from the shop. I spent $140 yesterday to take my grandkids out to lunch. GAK! This one is for me :-)

Enjoyed playing it last night - didn't play beta but guess I got hyped up for it. I think it was a video that showed up in my Youtube feed and autoplayed lol - Eventually decided it it would be interesting to play, after the beta closed of course and I had to wait a day for the launch to happen.

I'm such a degenerate that I still felt the need to two box lol fml

To be fair, i can see a 2 box being quite handy, even with the multi classing.

was messing around in D4 last night on a lvl6 SK/Wizzy and was struggling with 3 pulls. root only took me so far.

A sham/clr/dru + mage would have been awesome to have.

I think the best combo would be tank, healer, dps with 2nd toon being dps, dps, healer The biggest issue will be the 1st toon keeping aggro on everything though. but dps wins faster shit dies it wont really matter.

I saw in Discord that people that had more than one person playing in their house were getting disconnected if they both happened to pushed the same key at the same time. So, any type of key broadcasting on the same IP address will disconnect you.

Also they are having issues with the extra base inventory slots as well as people buying class unlocks before level 11 and then making the unlocked class their primary class. Wait until after level 11 and you have set your first primary class before buying an additional primary class.

The same keys getting pressed in the same house disconnect has popped up before in OGE. Sometimes they fix it and say it was a bug and other times they don't and say it is server rules

same key pressed at the same time on the same IP. That's some serious server side monitoring going on. Kind of hard to believe
Not that hard to believe. I got hit with it often on Truebox even when I ran 3 independent machines. Altho, I do suspect my signal splitter was causing some issues there as well. I ran different spam keys on different keyboards to avoid getting the auto disconnect from it.

Just run each client on a vpn and then you can use local network to signal broadcast no problem
I was 12 boxing teek just fine with this method.

Yeah I have got hit with the disconnect when spamming the same key on both machines. It was launch night so I thought the zones were crashing but I finally figured out what was happening after about 3 crash to desktops - think I had that before on truebox tlp's. Yeah it's hard to know how they're doing it from a technological standpoint... broadcasting out a packet on the LAN maybe and if another client detects then it boots? Hard to know, both always seem to go down so there must be a response too. Its probably something like that on the local network, vlan's or different subnets might solve it too.

I just had to swap out the nuke key from one box to be different from the heal key on the other box and I can spam away lol

The biggest thing that I miss from playing with mq2 .. I would say... is that even with the 'harry potter' maps, when you go into a revamped zone, it's hard to know on the map where the appropriate level mobs are if you want to keep killing yellow or even cons. And there doesnt seem to be a way to get the map to show the mob name, it's just a coloured dot so you have to mouseover which is a pain cause I normally play with just the keyboard.

I guess if I put a ranger into a loadout the area shown on the map might be large enough for scouting around and sussing out the level of mobs, ranger and rogue combo would be good for that to sneak around and scout the areas out lol. And mq2nav, god damn mq2nav is next level, I miss having that. But sure look, that's the way it is.

I guess it's because some of the game is 'unknown' at this stage that makes it a little bit more interesting than rerolling in the same old rehashed TLP you've been playing for the last ten years. The amount of AI slop guide websites is hilarious though and the ai slop eq legends wiki is pretty terrible but better than nothing I guess.

Ah, to be back in the days of hand drawn paper maps downloaded from the internet and printed out on an inkjet.

The devs must be making BANK from this, there was 50,000+ people in the legends discord this week? 50000 x $20 = $1mil ... maybe it doesnt bank roll that big on an operation but I would guess its only a small perecent of players that join the discord? 10%, 20% ?? Beats running an EMU server out of your mom's basement!

Thank you for enabling my boxing addiction.

Yeah the hardest part was picking the primary classes because they get locked in of course until level 50 or $15.

I went with SHD and SHM as the primaries, they do seem to be the most OP classes, Barb shammy seems to nearly tank better than the Human SHD - Shammie survives most fights when the shadowknight goes down and finishes off the 2 or 3 mobs. He's about half a level exp ahead - I've them at level 16 now.

So my main box is running SHD/CLR/ENC which seems like a good mix, for named mobs I can pull with tash and slow, charm an add if they come and ae stun and ae mez. I've been running the divine invocation on both boxes so I find with that healing for an amount of each spell cast that I dont have to cast a heal too often but I can pop an echo or whatever if needed. It's just really pull and then chain stun. Damn just occurred to me I could hotkey a few stuns to the same key and it will fire whichever is available. Still trying to get to grips with the stances and invocations to see what works best where.

It might make sense to have a hot key tied to a heal that also drops you into a defensive stance but I guess it's situational whether its melee or the spell defence one. And then maybe have a nuke hotkey tied to a stance to increase the dmg or resist check. Dunno need to do some homework on it, just searching there and I see this guide someone wrote https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1_yaucfxBm3zdTg8sZ3BoVhec7CBRfhMweYN5n82Nwuc/mobilebasic

The other box is running SHM/MAG/BRD. I wanted to get a pet class for the early levelling but I didnt want to main a mage or necro so SHM seemed like a versatile choice that could fit into other loadouts. At the minute I just really hit assist, send in pet and pop a dot and then repeat nuke. Not 100% sure about keeping the bard but the way they have songs being auto sung via the aa ability is pretty handy, it's no burden to play a bard really but just an opportunity cost from running something higher DPS. I might switch to SHM/WIZ/MNK or something down the road... it's hard to split WIZ and MAG, wizzies seem a bit more effective on this server because the out of combat regen is so crazy but the base DPS without having to worry about positioning from the mage pet is nearly too good to give up even if the nukes are a little bit lower or slower to get off. I love my wizzies though, was my original class that I played for years so it hurts me not to play one but having boxxed for years on live and TLP's they were the weakest class in my teams when it came to sustained dps and utility.

I've been running D4 zones pretty much the whole time and because everything is a caster and healing I feel like stun is one of the most valuable skills so I've been running air pets on the mage and god damn I'd say I've been charmed, feared and mezzed more in 3 days of play than in the last 26 years - MR is a big one to work on too.

I see a lot of people on twitch running D2's to avoid the mobs being multiclassed but the exp boost in D4's seems to be too good to pass up and the mobs are dropping fast... I can't really chain pull or tear fast running through a zone with the 2 boxes so I think D4 is the better option for me plus the motes are better I guess.

As much of a fan of multi-classing as I am, I will never understand the draw people have for these interactive screensaver type of "games". You show up, everything falls down and you're rewarded with meaningless numbers floating around the screen. They are meaningless because you were never under any threat or needed any skill to win. Hard disagree on that - whatever about it being mindless clicking, you could say that about any video game, book, movie, whatever... art is art even if some of it is less original or enlightening. I have no doubt that some of us feel like our time in EQ could have been better spent, and that... we may have gone... overboard at times... but we all made choices LOL

I havent been playing EQ the last couple of years or gaming much at all the last few months. I'm happy to pay 40 or 60 bucks or whatever to distract myself for a few hours a day from life and work - entertainment is in the budget. I've spent more on games for me and the kids that were never played or dropped after a couple of hours. And after 3 days and about 8 hours play each day I already feel like I've got my money's worth out of EQL.

AND I'm happy to throw the devs of this game some reward - they’re obviously working on something they're passionate about and getting rewarded for it. Everybody's got bills to pay. I'm glad to see a bit of innovation coming to the game, DBG are just phoning it in at this stage ffs It seems like a lot of the passionate and talented people have moved on and it's just in maintenance - which is better than nothing lets be real but it's good to see a bit of innovation and risk taking happening. You will never keep everyone happy, especially so in a MMO community full of elite level autists.

I was sad to see that Akkadius dropped out of the emu scene over the whole legal things that were going on - the work he did was AMAZING and he was obvously very talented. No doubt he never got significant financial reward for the work he was doing but obviously the risk became too much for him to gamble on potentially losing his house or whatever.

It's a loss to the community and the game of EQ as a whole that he'll no longer be contributing innovations to emulation. It's the same as the devs here and the brilliant things that they have created and we all have benefitted from over the years.

think I had that before on truebox tlp's. Yeah it's hard to know how they're doing it from a technological standpoint..
I mean you’re exactly right here. It’s the truebox code in play. And yes I know exactly what this is doing. It’s basically detecting key repeaters on the server side.
