Hail Norrathians,

For nearly three decades, EverQuest has been a huge part of our lives, not just as developers, but as players and fans. Many of us grew up in Norrath right alongside you, and that shared history is what makes the recent announcement of the Daybreak collaboration with the developers at Game Jawn to bring EverQuest Legends to life so special.

This new, fan-driven passion project comes straight from the heart. It’s built by people who genuinely love EverQuest and want to celebrate what makes it magical. The guiding principle is to make it more approachable for the demands of today with a solo-friendly experience of the OG 1999 version of classic EverQuest.

EverQuest Legends isn’t about replacing anything you love. It’s about honoring the past, revisiting early adventures, and creating new memories together. Whether you’re coming back after years away or jumping in for the first time, we hope it feels familiar, exciting, and welcoming.

Most of all, thank you for being part of this adventure. Your passion has kept EverQuest alive for decades, and we can’t wait to build the next chapter alongside you.

pre-kunark ie. classic? i guess they have to say specifically pre-kunark because there's vernacular like classic trilogy. i guess? soloable. so it's heroes journey, except secrets is project director.

im still processing the words im reading, but all i have to say right now is: OK

They have to release it before Hallowed Oath so daybreak can bitch about they stole their idea, mark my words!
 
Ironically, I see this setup as a way that eq actually thrives in the future.

Review EMUs for popularity. Rather than sue, extend an olive branch to partner strategically in somewhat of a joint venture. Scale.

You’d get the creativity and the knowledge base of super fans with access to EQ assets.

Thats how I’d run it anyway. I’d turn all future TLPs into the now segment and do it in a partnership.

Then daybreak could spend its time on new development and not TLPs, without having to pay for the dev work on its money making piece of the business.

curious because i didnt have a chance to play THJ, are these the exact same interface elements that were used in that server or are these new?

further to the point: given this that appears to be launching via a separate client from live, is it possible they are actually using THJ code?

they reached a settlement recently, so the timing is interesting. wonder what was potentially obtained in the lawsuit /tinfoil
 
I really like THJ. I might give this a try if they do some sort of slow roll of expansion unlocks. I liked the idea of self unlocking expansions.
 
No Krono's.. part of this might be because its being licensed and dev'd outside of DBG's/Krono system... Accounting would be a shit show? DUnno, theyve already said NO! to krono..
And yet if you go to sign up for for beta you have to agree to the tos which takes you to Everquest's TOS.

It is very cloudy where one end of the snake starts and the other ends.

This interface was not in the THJ client. The THJ code was open source prior to the lawsuit so it's possible it's being used, but it's worth noting they've got Secrets on board, who was making servers experimenting with multiple classes nearly a decade ago, so they certainly wouldn't need to reuse THJ code
 
You know if this was about RedGuides, it's practically identical. Change her concept of Solo to boxing solo and it is the same.

I have signed up for the beta, I am curious about it so I will give it a shot and see how it is. It honestly sounds fun being able to choose 3 different classes and use skills / spells etc from each one.

With how quickly this project is moving and the fact it was released right after the court situation was wrapping up.. most likely its the THJ code. Most likely to decrease the issues THJ had with DBG by handing it over.
 
It's interesting they say the alternate classes can fall behind in levels. I wonder if this leaves the door open for being able to switch between more than just those 3 classes? Like can I swap to my DRU/CLR/SHM and buff myself real quick before going back to my main classes?

As a figurehead of New Tanaan, I understand the general concern of what this means for the community as a whole, and would like to touch base to the status of where things stand.

- Daybreak recognizes that EQEMU is it's own community, and that the Game Jawn team still have their own projects, such as Project Quarm and Project 1999.

- There is no conflict of interest observed with current members or their projects, under the conditions that they comply with the Terms of Service with the Emulator Community to follow IP Rights / Copyright Laws.

- I encourage that members continue to conduct themselves accordingly to the Community Manifesto that has been written. Currently, there are no modifications to this manifest, and for lack of better words, it is "steady as she goes."
 
Makes it sound like McEverquest franchise store. If successful, there will be more varieties. I'll wait till Old Man McSic opens his for some RG love. 🐸

Most op 3 class combo is….sk, mage, shm?
It’ll depend on what AA is available, right now they’re saying just one pet character. Monk/war, rog/rng, bard/mag and knight/bst combos are all likely to be strong. Variations of those will most likely also be pretty strong, enc/clr/melee could be a sleeper too, but it’ll really just depend on what they choose to implement AA wise and how solo play is tuned.

Things like brd/bst/mag were unbelievably stupid with scaling on THJ.

I would most likely make a class with the following combo:

Shadow Knight: Why because I deeply enjoy this class.

Wizard: Could you imagine a SK firing off those big nukes, um hello.

Bard: This would just be funny seeing and SK, firing nukes, and singing at the same time.

Plus an Oh Poop Evac....


Come on now. We know you want to see this combo.


I just hope I can wear Plate.

I liked THJ when I played, mainly because it was free and different.

Solo kind of grew old though after a bit and felt a tad easy so did not take away my boxing urge.

This is what that worries me about this approach. I never played THJ, but I can't imagine one toon, even multiclassed, would keep me entertained for long.

I'm usually running 12+ toons and mixing and matching to make different combos, etc. The team building and progression of different characters is pretty important to me.

I may not be the target audience for this server, but I signed up for the beta anyway just to see what it's like.
 
With THJ I had a lot of fun with paladins slay undead combined with a monk's insane addition hits

Though I did find it limiting that while you are three classes, you can still only perform one action at a time. It was novel solo for a bit, but it isn't boxing. Felt like I ought to do solitarr in another window just to pass the time while waiting for casting to finish ...

Not if this allows boxing...
