Question - Epic Retelling - PAL advice/help needed

I've been trying to get the Dawn ornament for my Paladin doing the Epic Request/Epic Retelling, and I could use some help on figuring out why I keep failing the retelling mission to get Dawn. I was able to get the first two times down for the SF/FD/NB ornaments without too much trouble, but Dawn eludes me. Here is what I am doing:

1. Have Fiery Defender, Nightbane, and the ornaments on me.
2. Go into MM alone and ungrouped.
3. Equip Nightbane.
4. Remove ALL buffs except the DS from cloak.
5. Use older stuns/crushes along with the DS cloak with my back turned to slowly kill mobs so that they change forms.
6. First two werewolves - make sure they change forms twice before killing.
7. Specter - make sure is reverts to old model before killing.
8. Captain in graveyard - make sure he reverts to old model before killing.
9. Make sure to blind crows to kill the undead mounted knight.
10. Once in the ballroom - use stuns to make sure all three gargoyles change forms twice before killing. Alternate stuns on both hands on piano to revert the first vampire to old model before killing. Use DS and old crush spells to slowly damage second vampire so that it reverts to old model before killing.
11. On the last fight - alternate stuns on vamp and heals on frog until it triggers B&W old movie mode, then finish off vamp with melee with nightbane (he's usually only at 2-3% by this time, so one hit does him in)

According to Bonzz's guide and the video walkthrough on YT, it looks like I am doing everything right, but I never get the "your resourcefullness....more interesting tale" message, and the only reward option I get when going back to tell Thex about how awesome I am is a measly 1AA.

If anyone has done this recently and can tell me what I am doing wrong, I would GREATLY appreciate it, because I can't figure it out. The ONLY thing that came to mind is that maybe I need to be alone and not grouped when requesting the quest, and for the entirety of running around, etc...

No. I do have other personas, but none with epics done.

mybad i just realized the is the Retelling and not request im also having problems with the Monk version i did everything right i didnt chose sides i still didnt get anything

mybad i just realized the is the Retelling and not request im also having problems with the Monk version i did everything right i didnt chose sides i still didnt get anything

Until I saw the video, I thought maybe you had to have the epic 2.5 completed to get the special ornament, but the guy on the video didn't even have 2.0, just his 1.5

So these ornaments are fun. Technically you can do the Epic Request line 3 times. Once for 1.0 and once for 1.5 and 2.0 respectively. Then for the "special" ornament you do the Epic Retelling and complete the hidden objectives. You can view what that ornament is in the gallery in Felwithe. Some of the hidden objectives are a pain to accomplish. I know it took me quite a few tries with the SK one. Good luck getting this one for the PAL - I've not done this version yet.

Out of curiosity, for the SK version, how many of your attempts appeared to be 100% correct but still failed to get you the ornament?

Oh goodness... I restarted that quest probably 10 times? I has been far to long for me to remember why I kept having to redo it. All i remember is going from Felwithe to the SK trigger spot and doing that part first trying to get the achieve first so many times it was laughable. I searched so many different sites back then. Probably similar to how you are searching for what you are doing right/wrong. I wish I had more info to help.

This actually does help. I was wondering about doing the triggered event first then cancelling/restarting the quest if it doesn't go right. Do you still have to wait the 14ish hours to retry when using this method?

No. That is a lockout from completing the quest. If you get quest and drop it the lockout is much shorter.

Then this is what I will try next time, along with requesting it ungrouped. At least I wont have to wait a day to try again if I flunk it. Though to be fair, these last few times I've ran it, I was so irritated after I failed that I *needed* a day to cool off before trying again

i just found out if you do the epic request one time after you completed the epic 2.0 you can just go back with any persona that completed any Epic and get the ornament....with out doing the Epic request over and over.....

Right you are! Persona's share that character level achievement. And you can get unlimited replacement ornaments after you earned them from her incase you delete or get rid of them somehow. It actually amused me when anyone would spin up a level 1 persona and get the Epic achievements.

And 2.5 is just a hidden stat add on your Epic. The only time you want to bother with 2.5 is on TLP while it is active era if you are actually using the Epic.
