Quick update. The new patch brought a lot of changes. They are compiling EQ in a way that it now uses random memory addresses for offsets when run. The MQ2 devs are exploring work arounds but it may be a few days until we see new source code. This is not uncommon with new expansion coming out there are always some cure balls from SOE. Please be patient and we will keep you updated as much as possible.

If you want to motivate the devs donating is a great way to say thanks for all your efforts in keeping mq2 running.

This is completely voluntary of course but $5, $10, $20 could go along way for incentive to getting MQ2 updated.

To Donate via PayPal
1. Log in to paypal
2. Click the send money tab
3. Click on the personal tab
4. Select gift
5 To: [email protected]
6. Fill in an amount
7. Click Continue
8. Drop a quick note in the message box "Thanks for all the hard work from my name at Redguides." or something similar. This is important so ieatacid knows it from our members in case there are any problems.
9. Click send money
10. Post here that you donated. No need to name the amount if you don't want to.

Ieatacid will share the donations with the other MQ2 Devs

done and done sir.. c ept didnt say was from redguides.. i really should read to the bottom..

i am actually quite surprised that it took soe this long to come up with some sort of rotating or random method of allocating memory (and the accompanying offsets), it seems to me would have been one of the first things that they would have done to thwart MQ2.

They have only had a day to look at it. I am confident they will find a solution. Hopefully it won't be as bad as when House of Thule came out and we were down for a few weeks.

Donated $20. You guys have helped make EQ fun again. Are the devs here the same team that are associate with http://www.macroquest2.com?

we use there code but we dont "work" with them...tho we know them well...we talk to them all the time. thats how we are always update to on whats going on...its the devs work at mq2 that let us give you what we give you...with out there base code for mq2 there would be nothing to give you! Our plug ins work cuz of the work they do! :D

Sent him 10 bucks. Low on cash at moment. It all helps though! I hope they didn't break MQ, I would probably stop playing EQ without it. So would a lot of other people. You would think SOE would know that. I wonder why a large population of the game just up hmm....

Last conversation was they have a plan but they have to code and test it.

I don't post often out of shyness ... but on this occasion I really want to say thank you to those who put the hard work and efforts into ensuring our game is more enjoyable. Without the hard work of these Dev's ... I am most certain I would never hit the accept button on EQ again. Donated as well.

ieatacid was able to get into game so progress has been made. He said there is still work to be done but it's coming along.

ieatacid

Update:

I was able to get in game tonight -- like literally 10 minutes ago after working on it all night. It works without installing anything to disable ASLR, which is how I wanted to do it -- similar to the first post in that link by iluvseq. There's still more to do but progress is being made.

They are making progress.

Donated. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for the program that makes this game playable.

I saw they released the code this afternoon, was looking forward to seeing a new compile soon.

Looking at EQ in bazaar, and saw a System Message -- A new client has been pushed to the servers, please log out and run the patcher at your earliest convenience. 6:05 pm EST

The EQ team really sucks.

Source is up. Some changes in the way offsets are done so some plugins won't work without modifications. I'm looking into changes now.

ieatacid asked me to thank everyone that has made a donation

They have an update to moveutils on the mq2 boards. not sure if that would help or not.

Getting a new error before with boxing. First instance loaded from Launch window with update works fine. Second instance of EQ pops up box ERROR: Couldn't open dest file defaults.eal! Instance opens with second account but the layout is the default layout and it will not allow any other layout to be loaded. First instance is just fine. Second instance is still default UI even when backup UI is copied manually to the EQ folder.

keep in mind..even tho we have a compile up....its not fixed...acid is still chipping away at this like a beast...he is still putting LOTS of work into this....if you could I know the devs would LOVE for some more love for the amount of work they are doing!

dev* not devs... haven't seen anyone elses name working on the accual structs and offsets except ieatacid... maybe iluvseq but i think he's not consitered a dev... yet...
