Has anyone tried CWTN plugins or modbot mac with the following group compositions? It seems like a melee group is the standard group of choice, but I was hoping to have fewer moving toons running about in case I can't use MQ.

a) Wizx4, Druid, Enchanter. Enchanter pulls and the pet tanks. Would this be feasable?
b) Magex3, Enchanter, Shaman, Bard. Decent DPS?

Would the 2 groups go well together as a 2 group mini raid to camp named mobs? The mage group could tank adds while the wiz group just adds dps. Anything else I should look at instead of modbot or cwtn?

Thanks in advance if you reply.

group a), what pet is tank? no pet class in that group.
mage is very good dps, also tanky pet, but idk what is the meta late game.
i would say you must have tank class tho. if all acct are f2p you really need tank class. even if just tank char has sub with auto-AA, still need tank class.
just take 1 tank class instead of wiz or some thing there. big big benefit and lose very little dps.
i have caster group (all 4 INT caster) with tank and healer. work very nice.
also have full melee group. only benefit is they dont need to meditate :}

Yep, plenty.ag, nec, or bst cause they have a pet. Automated just fine.

However I like all my groups to be able to do the mechanics of missions, so I always keep a #real tank.

A pet tank, imo (and I was a nec main for ever and ever) is the equivalent of using a merc cleric instead of a real shaman or cleric.

You can certainly do stuff, but you're limiting yourself unnecessarily.

Also- using a raid to camp a named is a huge waste in modern game, imo - mobs die pretty fast with 1 group, you'd be better off having groups in diff places imo

not sure but sounds like an afk dps extra attack for group mobs, but similarly I love a SK, Pally or War (in that order). Helps keep things locked down.
ps. Sic... <3 the chicken Avatar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll have to post some too 🐸

I have a couple combos i run with casters
6x mage if I easy pull camp - still my favorite when I have everyone leveled up and thru the latest expansion
5x mage with shammy - for when the mobs hit a lil harder
3x mage shammy enc and sk - this group handles things just as well as my melee group - a tad slower someitmes depending on mob type

Bluetooth keypads for the caster, manual play the #realTank.
Map the keypads for the following.
All characters: same hotkey /target MAs name and /follow
All characters: same hotkey /assist Main
Next hotkey for a multibind to their DPS routines (essentially a button masher where you can hit "2" or whatever on the keypad for all the boxes and they will go through the eq social key)
Healer: Their heals
Enchanter: Their CC using predefined hotkeys to target/mez/aoe mez current target (which would get all the others as well)

manually boxing honestly wouldn't be very difficult. It would be more difficult compared to using MQ. But doable with the appropriate tools that allowed for simplified manual operating of the alts.
Mind you, this method is designed around the idea that you had 1 computer per character, which is a bit cost prohibitive.
The Alt+Tab (or clicking a specific tab in the taskbar) method would be significantly more difficult to achieve and would certainly keep you on your toes.

If you're interested in trying out the CWTN Plugins, simply grab yourself a month of RG and run MQ on the Test server. The plugins are included with RG for test and allow you to test them there at no cost. You could even play indefinitely on the test server without paying for them if that's your jam.

i prefer to use a proper tank which i always control, so for Caster group its SK , Ench, Clr, Mag and 2x Wizz, worked a treat using CWTN plugins, but been away a year and not renewed them yet so will probably try them with RGMERS to start and see how that goes.

A couple years ago I leveled up a group of 4 mages, 1 enchanter, and 1 druid. I used KissAssist for my automation. I tried all sorts of mage pet tricks thinking I could just zerg earth pets. But any sort of challenging content would get to my druid or enchanter and without heals and/or mezzes things would go badly. It's also a bit tough deciding which character should be lead. You can't assist a mezzing enchanter or a healing druid. Somewhere around level 75 I gave up on them and went back to a traditional tank-based group.

Bluetooth keypads? As in setting up a spam multikey for spells? Can you bind bluetooth keypads to multiple computers? or only 1 at a time? I'd need a keypad for each computer or broadcast it out with a usb multicaster?

I'm new to redguides, if I install the launcher, do I subscribe to certain to certain macros/plugins and it downloads those? How will I see them to use on test if I didn't pay for it?

With all those pets and swarm pets I am surprised adds would engage your druid and enchanter, and while druid's don't get a HoT, they are able to heal, just a bit slow in casting it. AA can help but have timers of course. A plugin, I'm not sure which one, would send out dannet commands to switch to a set target ID. This makes it easy to have anyone be assist with just a hotkey. Using pets as a tank is harder to control for sure, but not much different than using mercs, which people rely on all the same. I have yet to do challenging missions, so I don't really know the challenges of using an all pet group.

I used modbot for 3xmag/enc group quite a while back now. It worked fine; however, I manually controlled the enchanter as the main in that setup so I didn't do things like use pulling scripts or anything. Just parked the group, pulled with chanter, moved as necessary. This was back in VoA era and I toyed with it off and on for 3-4 years. Worked fine.

Play what you want...
Disclaimer... I haven't tried it. But everything I've read leads me to believe that you won't outperform a group with a tank, overall. Even if you do, you are likely introducing a handicap. Missions are a pretty essential part of modern live progression. If you are okay with possibly locking yourself out of that, have fun with it.

I'll be honest, you should just get the level 2 and figure it out. This planning would possibly all be rendered moot with the additional resources at your disposal.

As far as wanting to play sometimes without MQ, I have done that, albeit not recently. People use AHK, ISB, I'm sure some other stuff. It's all still possible. Just harder, and for most, it doesn't perform as well (there are experienced madlads who can do more with ISB than most can do with MQ out there).
You would still want a real tank to drive.

Edit: info on how to get level two using red cents is out there. Or someone else may post it. Active community members and regular posters/readers don't necessarily end up paying every month.

If you want to limit mobility try
3x Mage (Earth, 2x Rogue or Fire Pet), Bst, Enc/Bard/, Cleric

CWTN or Lua RGMercs works well for this

I've heard a buddy talk about a Magex5, 1 wiz group, and he said it worked very well. Burned down named before the next step could get started and would break events. I am tempted to try a similar setup mixing the mage and wiz groups, maybe Wizx2 with Magex3 but have no experience with it, other than what others say. It would be nice to just bring 2 groups but you can't do that for missions. How well did it go for you?

Seems odd to not have slows or heals, but hey, with that much dps and pets everywhere, I guess you don't really need it. Seems with a lot of games, just adding more dps solves everything.

I did Mage x4 once with merc cleric and merc warrior. I was surprised at how easy it was.

I easily destroyed everything in the group game with my caster group and kissassist macro. By far the strongest is 3x mage with water pet, bard, druid, chanter. Give that a try and you wont go back.

I really never had any luck doing one class type groups either casters or melee. I usually have a mix of toons. Currently SK/ClR/ROG/SHM/BST/BRD the extra heals on TOB missions works well for me and the DPS is actually great

My best group is Shaman, Pally, Beastlord, Bard, Mage and Necro. But I have a metric shit ton of accounts and I have played an all caster group with the Shaman pulling using slow and a Mage Pet Tanking. Although the mobs didn't last long enough to really need a tank. It was always with the CTWN Plugins they are like The American Express of Norrath. Don't leave home without them!

I think Opportunities are lost if you dont have a mix of classes. My groups always consist of Tank | Healer | Crowd Control | DPS | DPS | merc as needed... This servers me well.

I only run 5 accounts, as this leaves room for a friend or merc is I have no friends :(

I agree. It’s also fun to run 3-4 groups of totally different mixes, and just explore what works. Then one day you can do 6x mage, the next SK SHM Enc Wiz x 3

Here is another option that isn't as widely known.
Streamdeck has the ability to be assigned Function keys that aren't typically on a computer. I use it for things like muting/deafening in discord for example.
You can assign the streamdeck to an F key up to 24. Where-as normally a keyboard has Fkeys up to 12. This allows you 12 keys to do something that you can assign to a stream deck and then you can put a picture on it, or assign it works. It's like having button master - but physical. Did I say 12 keys? I may have left out the part where you can use key modifiers with the stream deck too. Shift + F22, Ctrl + F17, Alt + F18 etc.
Just go to "System" and then choose "Hotkey" and drag that onto an unused button. Assign it the Fkey of your choosing and rename it whatever. Then you can even assign it a picture.
Once you create the hotkey on the stream deck, you can bind it to something in game such as Hotkey on hotbar 2 that does a thing on all the characters.

Anyway, much like with the bluetooth keypads, it's limited needing 1 pc per stream deck, or requiring you to change to the instance you want to control prior to using the keys. But still neat additional option.

does the streamdeck work with a usb repeater?

I've been running something similar but necro ends up being my puller and pet tank. Group content mobs just die too fast to bother with dots.
