Guide and FAQ and write-up to come

Will be moved into the "Check here post first" thread, but will sticky it for now

example commands:

/shm byos custom set
/shm byos custom clear

This looks truly sick, Sic. It's going to be so helpful for those weird times I have to do weird things because EQ is kind of a weird game.

And thanks for the video guide. Much appreciated. Keep your head up, brother.

This looks like a huge enhancement to the flexibility of the plugin. Looking forward to playing around with it and really appreciate the work guys!

It was already the best plugin going (I use Zerk, Rog and Shammy) and now it will be even better.

When we load up a custom spell set how is the priority of said spells set? For example if I load up 3 nukes, will it prioritize top to bottom or does it have its own logic?

It has its own logic. The only thing that changes is what spell is memorized. The plugins are still doing their work in the way they are programmed.

If you wanted something just Willy Nilly going down the spell gems, this isn't the tool for that.

If you wanted something where you can change casting or rotation, this isnt the tool for that either.

This is nothing more or less than setting a custom spell set so it will rememorize them and do buffing.

dang, this would be perfect for Lazarus with Rubrae buffs :/ Ah well, I can wait :)
well the plugin will still only use stuff the plugin says it uses - like emphatically stated in the video.

so if that server has some wild and crazy random ass named spells that the plugins don't use, then it will not use them =p

it doesnt have any custom spells that Ive seen yet. Just a buffing NPC that casts buffs that the plugins try to override with their own. Its not a big prob, just gotta play around with the BYOS stuff a little

I want my shaman to cast annul magic on any mobs that have buffs on them. Is there a way for MQ2Shaman to do this?
no, not at this time. as mentioned in the overview, unless the plugin says that it uses a particular spell, it isn't going to use it > :p <

Hi Sic,

Watched the video and I just want to make sure I understand things correctly. For background, when I first read the different threads for the various plugins, it sounded that if you use(d) BYOS you would have to manually cast the various spells. Now, after watching this video, it sounds that if you use BYOS custom, you can set your own spell gem line-up and, if the plugin "knows" those spells, the plugin will use the "custom" spell set. Did I get that right? If so, that is a huge feature across all the plugins. It is like, " hey bud here is a default set but if you want to tinker go ahead as long as we know those spells."

Be well. Happy gaming.

As an SK main I love BYOS .. set up same for my chanter... my cleric seems a little more hesitant from the looks of it BUT I'm not 100% certain as I trust him to keep me alive while doing a hundred different things. I'll also add I'm excited I seen a beta for druid is coming and with RG ive given up on the druid keeping my war alive long term. KA has improved that pairing some for me but ini editing is such a PITA in comparison to CWTN

yes

byos works the same way too - but byos custom allows it to swap gems for buffing, and put your gems back

Is there a command toggle or a setting to maintain BYOSCustom on/off? Mine defaults to off every time I log off/on. Would like it to stay "checked".

please watch the vid/guide in the origin of this post. byos can be "saved" with using the slash command (like other option settings) but the actual spellset for byos custom needs to be issued to use that spell set you currently are using

Using the checkboxes are a temporary change. Using the commands to change them will change the .ini file
Type /clr byoscustom on
That should check the box and keep it checked for you. You can also make hotkeys for this stuff, to toggle on/off/etc for multiple things. That's about all I remember from the cwtn plugins. I had a raid hotkey to mem my raid spell set and toggle stuff off, and a group hotkey to toggle stuff back on, etc.
no, this is incorrect. byoscustom has to be set each time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

you can always use a .cfg file to issue the command when you log in if that is something you wanted to do. the plugin isn't going to set byos custom itself. that is something you would set with whatever spell loadout you wanted to have loaded.

and set up a server_charname.cfg
so vox_coolguy.cfg

INI:
/timed 100 /shm byoscustom set

> here < is a guide about auto loading a .Lua --- the same approach is what you would use with doing what is mentioned above

Thanks Sic, good to know I wasn't missing something from watching the video. BYOS check box is persistent through the .ini file, it was just that I didn't see that option for the BYOS custom. Works great for me!

So I watched the video and followed the steps, but I am having some issues. This started because I want my ENC to cast Addle using a LEM when I am doing shei or aten. So I made sure there was no BYOS custom by typing /enc byos custom clear - I then do /enc byos custom and it says I do not have a custom set. So far so good, but then I turn on byos /enc byos on and I replace Mesmeric Stare with Addle on gem 4. I then do /enc byos custom set and the plugin turns on byos custom, removes addle and puts mesmeric stare back. As you can see in the screenshot, I have addle saved to gem 4, but Mesmeric Stare is memmed there. Hopefully I didn't misunderstand something in the video

I'm not sure and I'm not going to check this evening, but turn on byos, mem the spells you want then byos custom set

/byos on
/byos custom clear
Then make your new set

Can also unload and reload the plugin (clear clears, and we don't save anything - but if you're in doubt)

Also, if you want to use addle, turn off use chaotic.

I would hope you don't!! :) Happy New Year

BTW, I did all that (except the turn-off chaotic) before posting, so I will wait to hear back when you get a chance to check. Thanks!

UPDATE: So after turning chaotic off, I memmed addle on gem 3 instead of 4 like I was doing before. With this I do not have to use BYOS.

Hunting for a /command for toggling byos custom. Use many diff classes, and I've got the /rng byos on - works great.

But I want to toggle custom with a /command and stick in the activation hotkeys as it doesn't stay turned on between loads it seems. Iirc the videos this is by design and not a flaw.

Just doing it with a /command solves all my woes - does it exist? I can't figure it out or find it.

please post cwtn stuff in the cwtn section.

yeah dude, absolutely gotchu - "custom set"

in the Sticky in the cwtn section (please always start there)

there is a > Custom BYOS Stuff <

in that it shows example commands (for shm)

/shm byos custom set
/shm byos custom clear
so when you log in - assuming your spell loadout are what you want, you'd just
/cwtna byos custom setor whatever

Missed this video entirely in my exploration. All the answers I need be there.

(Noticing a pattern here... =P)
