Hello, Forum Friends and Fellow Mercians. (Murkians is how that should be pronounced)

I am a long time E3Next user, and with the recent Emu upheavel, I figured now was time to dive in and start "fresh." RGMercs looks like a great resource, and I want to understand and use it to the full extent.

Getting started, I'm not used to having the script/program wrangle control/drive the toon for me. I'm accustomed to 'driving' the foreground screen, and handling all the logic of the foreground on my own (letting E3Next handling buffing/clickies). My background characters can do whatever - I don't care, I'm not looking at them and Mercs handles them fabulously. However, when an aggressive NPC is nearby and agro's, my limited experience with RGMercs was that it "auto engaged" that NPC for me and took over the tanking.

In the whopping 5 minutes that I've spent with RGMercs, what's the advice/getting started for me? Do I *not* run mercs on the foreground character while I'm "driving"? Or do I dig through the beautifully newly updated Settings UI with fancy search and highlight to find toggles that turn off certain behavior?

My apologies for the inane "getting started" post - I went to the wiki, but I understand it's being updated.

Many hearts, and much appreciation for the work on the script. Excited to see it in action.

(I'll keep digging through the forum, as I'm certain this has been covered before, but I'm trying to get a feel for the "best practices" while running RGMercs!)

Don't run rgmercs on the toon you are driving manually just run it on the other toons and set to assist your tank/driver.

Turn off autotarget and auto engage.
Pause if you still don't want it doing other things it's doing.
Do this for approx 2 days, then decide to turn it on and enjoy life when you want (I kid.)
Use the force target window to drive your driver as needed.

I'll have to double check the logic for this specific usecase to see if it properly threads the needle. I will admit, I naturally have very little reason to disable the things that I'm writing to do the things.

Totally fair on both replies. I'm just wanting to make sure I'm understanding "how" it's supposed to work, and relearning an almost 5 year stint of playing "manually" driving my main toon.

I'll tinker and let the background do what the background does, and (gag) "circle back around" in 2 ish days.

Thank you both!
