Hello, Forum Friends and Fellow Mercians. (Murkians is how that should be pronounced)
I am a long time E3Next user, and with the recent Emu upheavel, I figured now was time to dive in and start "fresh." RGMercs looks like a great resource, and I want to understand and use it to the full extent.
Getting started, I'm not used to having the script/program wrangle control/drive the toon for me. I'm accustomed to 'driving' the foreground screen, and handling all the logic of the foreground on my own (letting E3Next handling buffing/clickies). My background characters can do whatever - I don't care, I'm not looking at them and Mercs handles them fabulously. However, when an aggressive NPC is nearby and agro's, my limited experience with RGMercs was that it "auto engaged" that NPC for me and took over the tanking.
In the whopping 5 minutes that I've spent with RGMercs, what's the advice/getting started for me? Do I *not* run mercs on the foreground character while I'm "driving"? Or do I dig through the beautifully newly updated Settings UI with fancy search and highlight to find toggles that turn off certain behavior?
My apologies for the inane "getting started" post - I went to the wiki, but I understand it's being updated.
Many hearts, and much appreciation for the work on the script. Excited to see it in action.
(I'll keep digging through the forum, as I'm certain this has been covered before, but I'm trying to get a feel for the "best practices" while running RGMercs!)
