Is anyone trying out the new emu convergence. I downloaded it last night and explored for a bit. Thinking about lvl 2 again and wondering if this server is legit.

I've been playing there for about 2 weeks. Been having a blast. I'm not used to afk play. So, now when I get up for work, it's kinda exciting to see if I've lvl'd and filled bags with loot, or , my team on the bind spot. Most people there use modbot, it's supposed to be easier to run raids. That is what most are doing(raid armies). I'm running single group (rgmercs) and still having fun. And Jay has made plenty of QOL adjustments. no ban hammers so far.
There is no OOC as of yet, so discord Is where you get Q & A. It's still early and Jay is tweaking and updating the server daily it seems. Sorry, didn't mean to ramble on.
So, yes, it's legit.

I've been playing on convergence for about 3 weeks, got my first 24 characters to 60 and have been farming epic pieces as single groups as well as farming upgrades on gear in Chardok as a small raid. Got my 2nd batch of 24 into their 40's, this time levelling as a raid. There was a huge (but fun and rewarding) learning curve.

My MQ history has been 6 man group on Live. Started out with Kissassist and then graduated to CWTN plugins. I am now getting more familiar with ModBot and seeing a much bigger and more fun potential for what EQ can look like.

The community on the server is very helpful and friendly, lots of activity/responses/trades in the discord. It is a progression server currently on Kunark, with raid targets modified and scaled to level 60 (Naggy for example is not lvl 52 max)

Key tips for anyone interested:

1. You need to register at https://www.eqemulator.org/ to make accounts for the EQ build. Each EQEMU account can have 4 EQ logins created for it which cannot share the same name as the main account login. That means you're going to have to make a lot of EQEMU accounts to get all your game logins. The system there is a little bit buggy so you don't always receive a verification email which is required to move forward with account making. To fix this, on the home page there is a fairly recent post linking you to a re-send email link which may take 1 or 2 clicks to end up in your email if it doesn't work initially. I had issues receiving it on hotmail and I came across a good post talking about gmail being the best.

You can register your first EQEMU account under your email "[email protected]". For your next batch of four you can register them as "[email protected]". Then for the next 4 "[email protected]" etc. until you eventually do "[email protected]"

These periods don't seem to matter to gmail so they will just send everything to the original "[email protected]" eliminating the need to create a bunch of different emails and allowing you to fairly quickly register and verify everything from a single place.

2. Decide early on how big of a raid you want to run and learn to use whatever automation is best for that end as quickly as possible. I believe most people use modbot or trotsbot. Most people use Kissassist or RGMERCS for their puller and tank.

3. Levelling tips. I tried hunter roaming with a raid of 24 and found that some toons got left behind, stuck on stuff or just timed out due to some kind of lag. There are certain areas in the game where there are lots of wandering mobs and a general high density of mobs. While levelling it's good to park in a higher traffic area and send a bard out to chain pull so you get both intentional and passive mobs joining your party. It's easy to get level 20 beside kurns tower in field of bone, for example.

4. There are lots of QoL things scattered around in the discord. Lots of them get pinned to a channel so check those out and don't be afraid to ask for help!

5. If you optimize your game settings, you can really run a lot of toons lag-free. I saved a photo linked in discord, copied the settings and immediately had a 10 times smoother experience. I will link it below. I can't remember who posted it but hopefully they chime in and take credit.

If people want to add to this about other useful things they've found and are using that would be amazing.

As for number #3, on convergence discord channel you will see a #map-meshs channel. Plenty of meshes to download. Fencek has been very busy running 18-man raids and making nav meshes for us.

The Convergence

This Server is still new. The website is too.

I've been playing on Convergence for a few weeks now. It's been interesting, I'm trying to learn how to automate a raid, something I'd never done in Live eq.
But yeah, it's been fun. And absolutely no concerns about finding my now 30 accounts banned is liberating.

I have been playing on convergence since the start. I love it. All classes on start. Dragon fear is gone. Replaced with other more dragon like abilities. Instant DT removed and changed to a Cure dot fire dt if not cured.

Items have been reworked. Starter gear, all spells auto granted to 59. Respawns increased, popular zones instances for 8 hours. Raid zones instances for 8 hrs w/respawns.

Plans of air reworked, VP reworked. Afk allowed. Box armies of up to 72 allowed (72 max instance/raid. Box all you want). No xp loss. Max health/mana when you level.

That sounds awesome. Do you respawn with your gear, or have to do corpse recovery?
