I have started running 2 groups recently, Wanted to start a 3rd group but do others use Things like ISboxer to see other toon or they just stack windows?? I cant seem to run more than 12 without crashing wondering what changes I need to make. I use a Dell g15 gaming laptop with 4060 graphics card.

I will look into boxhud been using ISB for years now. I know when I booted up 18 MQ seems to crash out, but 12 is fine. so could be ram issue on laptop atm so the video thing might be it as well

Screen space will be pretty important too, especially if you want to mitigate the chance of missing a tell from a GM (or other player checking). Nothing worse than hearing the beep and trying to find out which window it's in.

For each group I also have a pause button that I use if I'm talking to another nearby player (/dgga /boxr pause pretty much) Nothing screams suspicious like "this guy is boxing flawlessly while sending me a tell"

+1 for Isboxer for managing the windows themselves, well worth the money.

I prefer the ISBoxer route due to wanting to see all of the character screens at once. But, system specs are very important when doing it this way for anything above 6 characters or so. So, depending on your system, will determine what you can and cannot do. I would say if you have a singular 4060 card with whatever RAM count, I think this is likely why you are crashing after a certain amount of instances. Allow for 2GB of system RAM per instance with 1GB of graphics memory for most graphics options maxed out with a background of 30FPS and foreground at 60FPS. Do the math from there. Now, of course, you can modify what graphics you use with whatever intensity in your options to account for how much memory you actually need.

Anyway, there it is...

Kill your clip plane, turn off all sound and spell effects, use framelimiter and do not render in background. A lot of people use stick guys but i havent figured out how to turn that on yet…but meh

i like to use the metaphor that when you run multiple instances of eq ... you dont need the hotrod ... you need the tractor trailer that hauls the hotrods ... ram is king imo ... as doc mentioned above allow 2gb of ram per instance and you shouldnt have an issue . aside from obviously using MQs frame limiter i also use old models and run my drivers from a diff install with environment effects on medium so i can see auras etc on raids . all other toons have everything shut off and run from a seperate directory

in summary - max out the ram on your mobo and than work within that amount when considering how many instances you can run

framelimiter for sure if you're not already using it.

Gaphics changes maybe? - https://everquest.fanra.info/wiki/Graphics_and_performance_settings_guide

Take a peek at boxhud as well. The ability to see your crews at glance and one click to bring them to the foreground was life changing when I moved away from ISB.
Listen to PSY the framelimiter mater I have 128 gigs of ddr4 ram enough to run a full raid with good internet but this lousy net I have now I can barely get 2 groups out there without adjusting the framelimiter.
