Question - Best method to stop Everquest Changing settings?

Hey all,

I used to use ISBOXER to manage each characters INI, but now they are in the Everquest Directory. And it seems like every second time i log in - My Settings like Random Loading Music will be turned on, Or Spell Effects are set to 100.

Should I be setting eqclient.ini to read only?

Is there a method to use different eqclient.ini's with AUTOLOGIN?

No autologin does not allow that at this time.

Increasing your autologin delay can help with EQ not getting a file lock error on a random toon which results in defaults

Best method for me was to create two EQ folders. Setup one as your main EQ window (good graphics, sound set, etc…) then on the other EQ, set everything down with music off, etc…)

Can change the pathways within auto login so each toon can use one or the other. Also with this if you mess with your main EQ window settings it won’t affect the other folder at all.

You’ll have to run launcher on both to update. But that’s the only downside. After that it’s the same patchme fix with their own pathways.

Sic summed it up but I wanted to add that some people use multiple EQ installs to accomplish having different client ini files.
Not strictly what you asked, and it's usually done to improve performance on clients that stay in the background. I never found it necessary on live with 12, ymmv.

Edit: Using symlinks to do this so you generally only have to update one EQ install is also a thing.

This is what I do as well. Tanks get the good folder. Everyone else gets the crummy.

It also helps if you start running a lot of toons and want to control filters appropriately for parsing. Not a huge deal when running 1-2 groups but if you start doing more, throw in a raid population and the chat filter can throttle any system I’ve thrown at it!
