This great forum and the helpful players have helped all of us over the years. I know some people here ( I wish I was one still ) manually play some toons.

Is there anyone or way we could maybe compile a 'Guide' on how to play toons we love, but have other then basic movements and get some basics and maybe even more. Like setting up mash keys for certain classes, spell lineups, most classes have orders in which they optimize DPS. Anything would help us if we can't get our full MQ backup and running.

Any helpful bits would help, not just me, but I am sure countless others..

I think it's a great idea. One of the reasons I stuck with KA was I enjoyed the process of learning each class as I levelled, and updating the inis.

While i know there are guides all over the Internet, having a one stop shop - here is gold imo.

Discord is ok, but Pita to have it up if need to be in another channel always jumping back and forth
I trust our peeps here more..

Don't be scared to ask class related questions, I know theres some savages lurking around here that can give you the lowdown on any class. These forums are also more human than the EQ official ones.

The discord tip is a good start, Freelance website has some decent tid bits... just need to be aware there is some outdated info floating around, especially over the last 10 years.

Search in discord is also ick. Nor can you maintain a "front" page for the discussion as well.

I much prefer posting boards that have functional search engines, or at least able to use search engines to search the posting boards.

JMHO.

I used to frequent the Magicians Tower or Necro talk, but have not hit them up for some time.

It would be nice to see some more BIS lists by expansion, or DPS spell line up comparisons (since they change some over time).

Thus far boxing with out MQ i just needed to set up 1 hotbar to a single key, and load it up for nukes and tank. The DOTers/slowers/mezzers being the toons needing more attention. Obviously not as efficient, but it limps along till we get a better idea on whats what.

I tried a couple of the class discord invites, but was told the invite expired. (Warrior and Magician links in particular)
There's a post by Sancus on the EQForums that is REALLY good for mages. I forget where exactly, but a Google search will probably get you there. It's from a past era, but everything said is still relevant.

Warrior, put all aggro things on 1 key, mash that key. Defensive is Dicho (modern equivalent)+Pain Doesn't Hurt (modern equivalent)-> Stand -> Dicho -> BP clicky + Warrior's bravery -> Glyph if you got it, otherwise you have a small gap in defensives (1-2 minutes depending on if your BP click got eaten through).
Other than that, keep all your abilities on cooldown. OOW BP doesn't stack with warlord's bravery. Imperator's Command is silly to use with Quick Time (but it'll be back up by the time QT ends, so whatever, keep it on CD). Warsheol's buff doesn't stack with Onslaught or Mighty Strike. If you don't need to use Stand because you're a BAMF, use offensive discipline instead. Always use a 2hander. Don't stack % Hate Modifiers (Dicho is 100% hate modifier). Use rage of rallos zek while DW warrior weapons for near unrippable aggro.

Most importantly: Befriend your healers. Warriors can't heal themselves, healers can't tank for themselves.

I’ve always found it ironic that some of the most educated people across all classes are those of us in these forums, but in other places/forums they look down us so much any info would be discarded.

Maybe not the deep SME to argue hCha over hInt on a bard, but good at almost every class because we drive multiple groups at a time.

So yeah - search and ask. The info is here somewhere.

There is merit to the argument that SKs should spec INT, PAL should spec WIS, and WAR can spec either (probably both to maximize).

Spell damage is the hardest thing for any tank to mitigate.

I just assume the CWTN plugins do the right things at the right time in the right order and concentrate on group/raid mechanics. Even if they don't imma still gunna use them, so i just concentrate on the orchestration.
I have 3 buttons, pause, resume and cometh hither

Like now, I tried to make some mash keys for a toon and have been googling and pulling my hair out haha. Died in GH because I had hp drain skill on.

Do you need a class guide or a "how to play everquest" guide? Setting up a mash key is pretty simple. You load up a new hotbar and go into the options and change the key bind and set all the keys to like 3 and then you add all the aa's or abilities that you want to mash.....?

If you are wanting some guides on how to play some basic classes - I recommend hammackj on youtube. He has a series on "How I play my *Class*"

What I do when I am learning a new class is go to the KissAssist INI files and find one that has been uploaded and reverse engineer my hotkeys from the INI. I like to see what hotbuttons are firing off when a KA is active. The ones that fire off a lot I will group together on a mash hotbar. As I learn more and more I will group things that do similar things together. KA INIs also have good spell setups usually.

What class/level?

SK can handle a mash button, but I find Necro/DoT casters need casting hotbutton macros. With SK I either do an entire hottbon bar to 1 key, or I make a "taunt" section to 1 key and a "lifetap/everything else" one.

As an example, I set up 3 hottbuttons for my necro... SLOW MED FAST. Each group had 3-5 DoTs, used as needed for the fight.
SLOW would be the long lasting (disease/splut)
MED would be the regular fire/poison lines
FAST would be 3 of the speed DoTs, depending on which ones are top damage for the toon, versus whats getting resisted.

And of course recast as they wear off. Takes a little tweaking to get the cast delays/pause just right:

/pause 030, /cast 1
/pause 050, /cast 2

(remember the pause go in front, but is executed after the cast. 030 is 3 seconds. You need to account for cast time and recover time)

Rest depended on what as going on. Like if needing a slower but no alt... Skel nuke to make it undead then undead slow. If pet is tanking, shielding+ pet heals, etc.

Occurs to me someone reading this might not know the keybind/multibind trick:

"Multi-binding in EverQuest allows mapping multiple hotbar slots to a single key (e.g., '1' for slots 1-10), enabling a fast rotation of abilities or spells with one button press. This is done via Alt+O -> Keys -> Hotbar,"

You will find only one of your hotbars has keys assigned. Pick one of the other ones, and bind X amount or all of them to a single key. When you mash the key, it will send all of them commands/spells/AA/item click/what ever to the server at once. The server will basically do "Hotbutton one ready? If so execute! If not, hotbutton 2 ready? ect".

For nukers it means what ever nuke is ready get launched. For tanks, its usually what ever aggro thingie is ready. But for DoTers... theres no gain to landing DoTs before the expire so need more control.

Sorry about overexplaining, its a habit of mine after having decades of training people... way too many folks nod and "yes I done that I understand that" and promptly screw it up. "listen FNG, just humor me ... we are both going to pretend you are totally unaware and clueless, and go from there..."
