Hey everyone. I’m coming back after an almost 4 year break from EQ. ToV was the last expac I remember playing. Around the time I quit we were making the transition to Lua I think. The directx update had recently happened also.

Anyway, any advise on what I should review to catch up?

Side note: how were the last 3 expacs? I remember DBG had gotten into cookie cutter mode without much “new” content

Although expansions aren't quite as robust as 10 years ago, there is still plenty of great content. ToV and CoV are heavy undead, and after that things transition back to more regular mobs. Melee has received some great bumps and monks are able to top parses again. Wizards received some love as well, so roll up an AoE group and slaughter. Happy hunting!

I think the biggest difference is dannet. I used the older version (I think) - can’t remember what it was called.

I’d guess all my hotkeys and inis will be broken

well - dannet has been around for a long time - dannet is just the "default" these days over eqbc (which is still around) - some of us still use both forms of broadcasting commands

hotkeys and inis will be just fine

Welcome back!!!

You've got lots of stuff ahead of you to do, so enjoy! Most of those zones will be empty as well, so that's a fun benefit! Take your time and enjoy!

Lucky you all the Progressive gear you get to work on.

Honestly, 4 years is about right for someone to come back and grind a bunch of stuff for a while. I feel like i want to quit for 4 years after being back and catching up.
