Guide - Aaryonar - CoV Mission Vid

doing this last night was zzz

i literally just tagged the orbs and then pulled them back and ignored them, letting them beat on me, and did the normal aary/grolly rotation. samd with the 1 guardian that popped - just tagged it and let it hang out

Does the guardian despawn when you kill grolik? I always killed him while grolik was underground.

You can despawn golems by putting the earth orb in the earth aura too (or root them if you can't tank them)

Prior to patch I always ran all the orbs to earth and despawned them. I would sometimes get a guardian but just killed it while I continued to work on grolik and then also ayo.

Now I seem to get earth prisoned 100% of the time running to earth aura with the two orbs. Is there a better aura to choose? Or should I try to avoid auras all together? I seem to have trouble avoiding as pathing can be terrible and they run into an aura by accident if grolik is in a poor spot near one of the auras.

Edit: When just off tanking orbs it was zzzz easy. Guess that's the easiest way.

I think Sic needs to play with one arm tied behind his back to make it a fair fight. Maybe one eye closed too.

Well not sure what happened, but logging out for a few hours and coming back on with a clean view, and i managed to beat it, did not do anything different from earlier, but on second attempt it worked.

Congrats the thing I tell everybody is it's not overall hard but it's a little messy for people learning. IT's hard to not drag them by accident into the aura. Takes a little trial and erorr.

orbs are destroying me with the whole they dont do shit to you strategy
i dragged some over to a random aura and 2 were left up and they proceeded to wipe my crew while i tried to dps golem
i have been able to get them to despawn in the past by running them into a random aura instead of trying to find earth and then not getting any auras to despawn in time and having to deal w them
the auras seem to be whats F ing me the most

im guessing auras power up by going into other auras other than earth
im gonna try to do most of my tanking by entrance away from auras if they (if they can be ignored as some are saying they dont hit hard i rather do that than sodomized by running orbs to auras

this is pita- burned grolik but he seems to hp lock/regenerate hp?

Grolik disappears in the ground every 15% or so by design, so can't really burn him in the traditional sense, just do what you can as quick as you can whenever he's above ground

The Aura's themselves have negative effects, as well as a 255k/tick dot for 3 ticks.... that's over and above the 255k Roar and the 150k intruder curse that are zonewide. Get all of those (or even just 2 of them) at the same time, and most folk are dead.

I don't understand how it's possible to interact with Aura's and not have casualties.

If you don't want the maximum echo achievement and just want to farm the mission, I'd just avoid using the Aura's completely

It’s possible to do it but chancy as hell even in raid gear, at 390kHP or more on all chars. so if you were in full T3 COV group gear it would be possible but the question is why. I have an issue with this mission that it’s easier if you just ignore the mechanics. the orbs really don’t hit for much so you pretty much just need to control and not run into Auras to win.

Yeah exactly - gaining an achievement by luck isn't an achievement - I'll just cheese it and wait for them to tune it down properly.... I feel that's inevitable

Warrior fully raid geared, cleric, shaman, bard, zerker zerker, all in crafted CoV, all max AA, have epics and rk2's, running cwtn plugins and KA on bard, zerkers are still light on hdex augs but 150+ luck. I get slaughtered on this, I've died more than 20 times in a row this afternoon. The whole, "just tank the orbs" thing is completely crap advice

sounds like you're walking into auras or something.

here, i re-did the video this afternoon and will demonstrate "this crap advice"

That’s what the bulk of people here are doing to kill it and kill it regularly. What’s actually killing you is spell damage? Mob damage? Just as a reference point for testing it out and looking at this approach have you stood there and just tanked the two orbs not even working about anything else? I notice when grolik is going that I pretty much don’t even lose health - granted by Sk is in raid gear b it so is yours - and Sik as an example is not.

If you are getting slaughtered I suspect spell damage is killing you which makes me wonder if a) grolik ae from rising is hitting you or aura. But hard to give advice without knowing what’s killing you.

Edit - Sic beat me to it.

well my video editing software update today is now crashing my computer... so maybe not a video today about it.

but yeah tl;dr mission is easier than ever. I would double check you're not doing stuff outside of the advice

don't go in auras - don't stand in brown - don't let orbs go to auras etc

I suppose it's possible, maybe even likely, that I just suck, but these auras, I'm not seeing them when I'm getting killed. I see the effects for the ones around the pillars, but they're small and brief and they aren't even usually visible when I'm getting killed, the only thing I see is the orbs coming up and a healer getting killed. I can't find a way to agro them both with toons on chase and not lose someone in the process. I've tried burning, not burning, trying to set a camp away from where I think the auras are and being stationary, tried running around away from everything. The only big aura I ever see is the brown one before Grolik. I really don't have a clue what I'm doing wrong.

they should be pretty giant and sparkly - i wonder if you have some graphical settings too low and you just don't visually see them at all.

Okay, those are long gone when I'm dying, I'll normally see them twice. Edit to add: and as far as getting turtled, I've had that happen without those up as well, and way outside the range of the graphic itself.

And your definitely not standing in the grolik ae area when he returns? I definitely don’t think you suck but it’s almost definitely spell damage and a lot (not all is avoidable). Now that said youu can have bad rounds so if you are at 350-360k hp you can die in a round if the spell damage lines up. Otherwise I suspect you are running through auras the curse can come later so after it despawns. Pretty much stay on the brown areas away from the pillars 100%.

I’m running this even with just a cleric healing not even shaman.that said you could always root away the orbs as an alternative but since it’s spell damage you are likely dying to it won’t change anything.

If you post up what’s killing you at the end from logs we can probably narrow it down.

I'll try to dig it out tomorrow, I appreciate you guys taking the time to try and help me out, I was ready to throw my computer out the window this afternoon

After banging my head against this pre-patch, I just walked into it today and beat it first try. It's wimpy now. I off-tanked the orbs, which seemed to hit for almost nothing. Managing Grolik popping up and the Guardian when it spawns seems to be the only thing standing between you and a win, unless you want to do the achievement. (which I do, eventually, but not now). Also, as others said, stay out of the auras if you don't need to be in them. And don't stand right on the brown aura where grolik spawns.

You will see the I don't bother with the version 1 hylander suggestion of standing in the earthern aura. As my first video (the very first time i went in zone) shows, I never actually successfully went into the earthern aura and i just ignore it completely.

Version 2.0
1. Dps Ary
2. Dps Grolly
3. Wait NEAR brown
3b. Avoid brown
4. Grolly
5. Orbs - tag and hold
6. Avoid sparkly pillar
7. Grolly
8. guardian - tag and hold
9. Grolly to death
10. Aary to death
11. Lewts /open on the chest

Soo I'm gonna go ahead of time and thank you for the inspiring video of this mission, looks like the tries I'm gonna do when I get home is gonna be a success and I will be dancing with joy after another completed mission! All hail @Sic and his inspiring videos!

but then again...

I' also gonna go ahead and say "#¤%& this !#%"#¤% shit !#¤%"#& mission and damn you @Sic for making this look so "#¤&!"# easy! Cuz I know I will wipe and will be forced to comfort myself with a big bowl of icecream, but thats OK, I like icecream!

Jokes aside, it's time to do this! With success!

nah you'll be fine.

just dont run into sparkles - don't stand in brown

less movement in general is better - gotta get Lean up in that mfuka

If it says you are being hit by "A Roar of Darkness" does that mean you are in an aura? I can't seem to see the auras.

I have all sparkle crap turned off because I don't like the distraction in game. Does that mean I have zero chance if seeing these auras?

i keep spell casting effects turned off as well - I hate my screen turning into las vegas

Yep any of the road are the auras. If you look at Sic’s video you an see which pillars they show up in. the idea is to just stay away from them as that’s what is causing the roars.

i kinda have problems handle the orbs... in theori i could kill the orbs right?

Following up to my earlier post... this time I purposefully went into the brown aura where Grolik pops up to see what all the hubbub was about....

DON'T DO IT. I'm raid geared on my tank and most of my toons have a smattering of rotting raid gear, and even then, the spell/DoT damage from being in the brown aura when Grolik spawns HURT. If you're having problems with this event, make sure you don't go anywhere near the brown shit with your group. Take the extra minute to let Grolik spawn and for the aura to drop before you tag him and get summoned into more damage.

I don't think you can kill the orbs. You can drag them into the wrong aura (which causes them to explode.... but that also damages YOU) or you can drag them into the right aura (which has other effects).

You can root them though, that avoids accidently pulling them into an aura and having them explode
