AA Grinding in HoT

I’m new to HoT, and interested to know if any old hands have good grind spots for AA’s at level 90.

I did check around the forums and didn’t find anything directly applicable.

Normal group makeup w/ sk + melee crew. Ideal would be a stable out of the way spot that could be handled relatively low stress.

Sanctum Somnium is the hands down best exp in that expansion tons of names to kill but but if that's a more current expansion on the server your on probably have to avoid it

Sounds good, might take a crack at SS.

I usually look for something an expansion or so behind that is casual, and relatively unpopulated. The tricky part with HoT is, UF was the previous expansion.

UF just seems terrible to go back to for much at all, though maybe it won’t be so bad at level 90.

Foundation or some like that might be a manageable spot. High mob volume, and unlikely to bump into other folks.

I wouldn't call it out of the way, but the center carpet in Sanctum Somnium was where I spent way too much of my life. Easy single/duo pulls all day long and lots of areas to pull from not too far away once you clear the immediate surroundings.
One of the humanoid named mobs (a bright warden) does have a big short duration damage shield, so be careful of that, but otherwise nothing to it.

The Sand Castle in Morrell's Castle is tucked way in the back. Lots of mobs relatively close to each other on the beach area and inside the sand castle area one of the named drops the 2 handed raw damage aug from that expansion.

If it's current on your server, unfortunately the previous couple expansions were odd ones for grinding. In Underfoot Convorteum could be really good aa grind, but requires full progression to get into. SoD was all about lots of small tasks and stuff. Leaving SoF era Mech Guardian instances (or Beza/Zeka instances if you want to do more manual instance hopping) still one of the better out of the way places to grind despite it starting to fall behind level wise at that point.

This is not a grind spot but something you may want to check out now and when you are higher level. If you get the daily Hot zone from Teek the AA reward is quite good compared to the few minutes it takes to kill the 5 mobs. This shows a level 125 doing the level 105 hot zone getting 26 AA for all of 3 minutes it took to kill them.

Keep in mind that this is good for the new level 100 and 105 hot zones which were recently added. I am not sure it would be that good on a 90/95 but I think I did run a lower one and it was similar. Also sometimes the locations are not convenient. And make sure you get at least 2 at the same time or you will get the replay timer and be locked out of the rest of them till the next day.

But just for a limited play time it works well.

The Grounds @diazepam (https://www.raspersrealm.com/Everquest/HoT/openGrounds.html) looks like a great spot. I like the fact it’s tier 2, so quicker to get at than the top tier zones.

Good to know @Avian on A Bright Warden (https://www.raspersrealm.com/Everquest/HoT/openSanctum.html). Looks like a 1500 DS that I’m sure would wreck a rogue.

Some great suggestions. I’ll loop back in a week or so after trying these out.

UF was such a rough expansion it sort of has a ripple effect. Tougher to reuse old zones for xp grinding.

oh if call of the forsaken is unlocked for you throw in a round of gribbles with lessen burning for big chunks of regular or aa EXP every like 4 hours

If you're already 90, you got 5 levels + Gear from where you were during UF. if you have a rogue on your team, convorteum will be a great place to hunt. Especially the dwarves so you can assassinate them.

The mobs in convorteum should also be easier than MC/SS. theres also grindable/repeatable quests to beef up your aaxp if you run a circuit of sorts. I usually would place a campfire by an npc. kill my way to all of them getting quests and prelooting items. then campfire back and keep going, turning in quests/grabbing them again and continueing to preloot.

Think of underfoot like GoD. Once the new level cap came out, a lot of those zones become super viable spots. I used to do charm groups in ferubi or vxed at lvl 70 versus hunting in oow zones. I've also done some serious grinding in yxxta and Kod'taz in the 70-75 region.

@Wagga

Probably get better advice if you disclose the basics. EX: 6 person bot team, 1 tank, 1enc, 1 cleric/shaman...whatever you're using for dps.
Grinding to me = non-stop (balls-deep) in mobs getting exp

If you're smart, you've got War or SK, Enc, Cleric and whatever...if that's your foundation and your tank's not too squishy then you can really go anywhere.
I'd go somewhere with high mob densite. Drop a camp-fire and set shit loose and see how it performs.
If you're not wiping, very low likelyhood of someone running into you since most people don't frequent high density mob areas but move around the edges of the map.

If there's an area that's usually a clusterfuck that people avoid due to invis...usually a good spot to park your crew in the middle of and let bard or rogue loose on chain pull mode.

For best results try: SK/BRD/ENC/CLERIC x 2 rogue... or rogue / zerk and just watch the world melt around ya

Hey @an_image , no sweat on the group:
Sk/Bard/Rogue/Sham/Cleric (I fill the last spot with a merc usually).

I left the exact group out initially as I was hoping for it to be a bit more general, in hopes it would be useful to more folks.

I’m with you on the high mob density places folks avoid.

In doing some reading through: (https://www.redguides.com/community/threads/mq2grind.75417/), I can see the Brell’s Rest Hard mode is used for exp with UF unlocked, along with the Grounds Mashing Pumpkins with HoT. Both look interesting as they are instances.

Thanks for the reply.

idk how lax yelinak is with reporting people but while sanctum carpet is insane easy xp people might not like that as its a very popular camp. it isnt the best exp but its pretty easy to automate gouzah safari like was mentioned or tearable fear ferrot mission. the gardener or hippity hoppity kill depending on your group strength. all of those have a decent mob density to clear through before you need to get a new one. gouzah only has a 2hr limit irc though

my personal go to was to go to the ruined villaged in sanctum. not alot of people go there as its just for mercs and the mobs can be found in other parts of the zone like the maze but the server i was doing this on is very chill about mq. when i went through hot on mischief i did hippity hoppity kill. i changed my mesh so they wouldnt leave the forest or candy land areas and ide get it turn on hunter and come back in an hour or 2.

https://www.redguides.com/community/threads/mischief-instance-grinding.88587/ this thread has some good info for you as well. voa i did the assault the tower oseka mission i edited my mesh so they wouldnt go in the water or into the middle room and i would zone in and run that for 2hrs then campfire back to the npc. for rof i did rise of the ancients just turn on hunter and walk away for an hour or so. for cotf i did the rof mission and for tds i did the thulisar ha or tempest ha. i quit mischief though in early tds but i would just do the same spot as tds and in eok ros and tbl i would do the droga ha. just make sure to get barrels and supply boxes on ignore.

There is a mission you can get in candy land that lasts 6 hours. Its instanstanced so no fear of being seen by prying eyes. Id recommend that one
