As some already know, to complete Champion in NoS you need to do some faction grinding to get The Cunning, Strength and Bravery /achs. There are 3 mercenary quests in Darklight that earn you faction (+25 points each) that are basic collect and hand-ins. To make the grind easier DPG has made these quests repeatable with no lockout.

You can get the hand-in items off Spirit mobs in the normal zone, but he best way to complete these quests is:
- get the merc quests (all 3 ) on all players in group, whether they need them or not
- head to Deepshade and get The Spirit Fades mission
- zone in, and kill only the 'Spirit of' mobs (Cunning, Bravery, Strength)
- loot the Freed Spirits on the character needing the AA
- there are between 4-8 of each Spirit mob type in each mission instance
- if all 6 have the merc quest then each mob will drop 6 Freed Spirits
- they stack to 99, so drop the mission and rinse / repeat as many times as you will

Once you have looted a bunch of Freed Spirits, head back to Darklight. Hand in the right type to the giver. You can immediately request the same quest again, and just keep handing in the Freed Spirits you pre-looted.

Each completion gives 25 faction, and you need around 1150 to get all the /achs and clickies. But they also give AA XP (18 points if I recall). So in addition to the normal benefits (clickies, and completion of Champion) you can earn a ton of AA.

By conservative math, if you clear the Spirits in 30 minutes (should take less with a group), and assuming only 15 Spirit mobs per mission, this is still: 2 x 15 x 6 / 3 = 60 hand-in per hour, or 1080 AA per hour (in addition to the mob kills).

I was honestly shocked by this when I did the hand-ins for the faction last night, as all my characters ended up not only with their clickies, but maxed AA's at the same time. Not sue the AA reward will stay in, or whether they decide this needs to be nerfed, but it is available for now at least.

If you want to extra zoom-zoom with these turn-ins for the faction portion double faction pots work also.

Shes pretty cool, and works off fun factor, not so much *will this be abused*.. well.. maybe after this :(

Some specific numbers from my runs. This was not using a faction booster potion...

21 completions of the quest for the Wolf for the achievement
10 for the bear
14 for the tiger

this was consistent for 5 toons with all the turn ins being done in the above order.

The good news is the mobs for the wolf are right near the zone in for the mission, so that can be completed rather quickly

Its 45 turn ins to max the rewards, 135 freed spirit of pieces total. In order to get the rewards you must complete each quest once.

Deepshade was just taken down on bertoxx... thought that was it, but mission is still there, spirits are still in mission, still dropping six per when zone returned. <shrug>
Will try a turn in shortly to see if they changed the exp or no.

From what I've heard is that the quest drops are intended to drop from the instance and that they don't plan to change it. So that should remain available for the long term.

The XP has been reduced for completing the quests. It used to be 25 AA per completion (so 75 if you do all 3 mercenary tasks together). It's now down to 16 per.

The Type 19 'Devotee' drops coming from the group instance is likely to get changed to the Type 18 'Acolyte' version very soon (if it hasn't been already). Several of my guild mates are saying they haven't seen any drops (neither type 18 or type 19) in a few days, so /shrug.

Type 19 drops were removed in the hotfix this week. XP has been 16 AA for the whole last week, can't vouch for before that though. Still far from "nerfed" when you can pound down 3000 aa an hr lol

I agree with 16 AA each time, and yes the 19s went away thur

has anyone gotten any Type18 aug component parts from this since the type19s stopped dropping?

I am having a hard time getting all the type18s i need for my crew, they just aren't dropping from named or in chests for me. =(

The Focus of the Selenelion is just really rare.

Massive amount of kills, missions, etc...
Have seen maybe 40 Otherworldly drops.
But only 6 of the Type 18 Focus. Total. For all of NoS to date for me.

Heck, I have more Type 19's from the raid trash...

They didn't put it in patch notes, but according to people on EQ forums, this has been fixed and the quest on Test has no experience reward now.
This is correct. No XP reward on test since last patch.

It was only a matter of time. It was way too easy to farm AA there.

Expected, but I had been saving all of them in case a sliver of exp was left come next expansion. Have about 10 stacks after all the Hunter/Otherworldly farming.

Guess no harm squirreling them away, just in case.
