I'm coming back to EQ solely for play on Combine so I figure over the few weeks before the server is released I'll make a leveling guide for the server. I've got a few friends interested in playing with me until then so we'll see how we do.

Classic
1-10
Whatever is closest to your home town

11-20

21-30

31-40

41-50

Remember this is a WORK IN PROGRESS and will be updated constantly as I level.

Adding some Thoughts, I'm sure indoor zones will be the best place you can hope to get xp in oldschool so prob best spots to test out are:

11-20 :
Befallen
Beholders maze
Blackburrow

21-30 :
Runnyeye
Najena
Sol A ?

31-40+ :
Permafrost

41-50:
Sol B
Lower guk

of course bout everyone knows how to use Allakhazam but these are places I remember lvling indoor

great place for 12-24 or little higher is unrest ....................

As a druid at lvl 16 I slaughtered guards in Nek forest for good cash and exp.
Najena isn't the best because it's difficult to avoid trains at early levels. Everything runs when it's low hp so make sure you have root or snare ready!

Home zones - Oasis of Marr Crocs then Orc Highway - Highpass - Highhold Keep. Emerge at 35 of so and keep on truckin'

I doubt that they will put the revamped zones in from the begining but splitpaw was surely a great place from 25 - 40ish

have to cut out Oasis of Marr anything. The zone doesn't exist anymore, even on the Progression server.

I remember before kunark came out killing the guards in butcher block.. and den (i think is name) and friends camp near the water

i forget the exact times i was doing this.. but was close to level 30-40

Don't forget crushbone! I still take time to kill an Orc if I see them at level 70.

Highpass Keep, killing nobles was some great xp back in the day. can't remember just what lvls think it was mid 40s to early 50s

are they keeping the tutorial? That will "give" folks 10 levels and better gear than what was attainable years ago. The Gloomingdeep gear is as good as the stuff I had in my 20s when I started......

No has mentioned Mistmoore yet .. i know that was a great place to go round 20+

Tutorial will not be live when the Combine is first released. They've said that it may possibly be added in later.

Don't forget the spires in South Karana. Those were good from 20 to 30 if I remember. And I've heard talk somewhere that they'll be putting the old CT back.

I have leveled my alt Druid 6 levels (34 to 40) and my Alt Cleric 6 levels (26 to 32) in just one week of playing after work for a couple of hours a night. I did it in the Overthere. Now that it is a hot zone, It is great for XP. If you get a good team together, you can kill white and yellow cons easily. There are a lot of PLing groups there as well.

around level 20 I think it is the aviaks in south karana would be great. I remember leveling my druid there long ago. Great for group and/or kiting.

Anyone got suggestions on low level zones that won't be wtf crowded? Lol. I've outgrown Paineel, and Toxxulia isn't that crowded, but I have to travel far to hand in my rat whiskers.

I didnt see anyone mention feerrott noobie zone; spectres, its a good place since there is an exp bonus. The mob level range is 30-37 (better than oowomp in TD).

well i gotta add mine:

greater faydark killin orcs, then Crushbone, then Pauldral Caverns (great zone and i didnt see it mentioned here!) To Echo, to Sometimes Solb or velks then city of mist (another great one)

Thats a great and fast way to get to 50. :) or at least the way i've been doing it for years, haha.

There also used to be a hidden way of trading Crushbone Belts and Crushbone shoulder pads to someone in felwite and he would give u exp and crappy loot. I odnt know if its still going on, but when i owuld make a new toon id take a 70 into CB, clean house completly full my inventory with bags and belts and ect, and log on the other guy move everything on him go there and get like level 5 to 7 in a matter of minutes, lol

Actually initially Split Paw was an alternative to Blackburrow, and was the same level, plus with being so out of the way was almost always empty. It wasn't until around Velious that they changed it to a 30-40 zone, and then another shake up later to bring it to where it is now (all the bad pathing with 500 times the power).
