Question - Which Is Preferred for Lazarus, RGMercs or KissAssist?

Hi all,

The other day I heard about EQ Legends so I popped into RG to see the community’s thoughts and reactions. That’s when I saw the post regarding the change in direction of MQ2 from Live and Test to Emu.

I haven’t touched EQ in a couple of years, and thought maybe it’s time to learn how to run an Emu account. With that said, when I was first learning about automation in 2022, I started with RGMercs then progressed to KissAssist and finally the collective works of Chats and Sic. The Plug-ins are excellent, bar none, but I would imagine altering them for Emu is no small task and might be akin to writing a whole new app.

Again with all that background said, I was curious as to the community’s thoughts and opinions regarding RGMercs and KissAssist on an Emu like Lazarus. When I first used RGMercs, it was in the macro state. Now I see there is a Lua version. Is the newer Lua version more streamlined and resource efficient? Also, if memory serves me, I believe in Very Vanilla only one macro could be run at a time but Lua scripts did not have restrictions. Would this place RGMercs - Lua slightly ahead of KissAssist?

Any and all constructive feedback is welcomed. Be well and sorry about the lengthy intro.
 
On Lazarus , the best would be another one, E3Next. But both RGmercs and kissassist can work there too.
 
If I do set-up a Lazarus account, I was hoping to be able to use the tools here at RG because these are the ones which I am most familiar. Is E3Next a totally separate and different system?
 
My suggestion would be to give all three systems a try and decide for yourself. I have used all three on Lazarus.

All of them have pros and cons but I find myself bouncing between RGMercs and E3 because I like both platforms.
 
Thanks Sic and Ryn. I am an old dog so learning new tricks might be a bit difficult. I was/am leaning towards Mercs and was just trying to take the pulse of the community and see if there was any consensus choice, so to speak.

I played on Laz, was fun, people there were very nice overall, small amount of jerks, but thats anywhere, and those were 'shot down'. I preferred to use RG Mercs over the E3, just my choice, feels more to what I'm accustomed to and i like what Derple and Algar do. I started there before RGMercs was really getting a lot of attention for it, and it was good, it has lots of great focus for it now, so its really nice.
 
We'll get some E3 support here soon. ctaylor (kissassist) and woobs (modbot) are currently working on emu releases for their scripts.

RGMercs has default class configs that already support Project Lazarus and its peculiarities/customizations.

The new Lua version is a spiritual successor only, the code has been rewritten and has years of development past the macro.

You are correct that you can only run one macro script at a time. Lua scripts do not have that limitation.
 
I haven't yet, it's just on the todo list. But if it's dead then I won't need to!
 
What he meant was E3 was replaced by E3N. Algar is a picky chap. E3N is 1000% not dead, is actively developed, and has a thriving user base.
 
I have used both E3N and the RG stuff on EMU servers a lot ... they both work good but if im running multiple character i prefer the E3N because it seems to have a quicker response time to inputs. What i mean is your bots are quicker to heal, quicker to nuke, quicker to loot ... basically everything just has less latency in E3N. I don't know what causes the extra latency when i use RG stuff i just know i feel it while playing ....

What servers did you use RGMercs(Lua) on? Edit: Was seeking clarity on "RG stuff".

So i mostly used the RG EMU build of MQ thru the launcher and then Kissassist as the macro in game. I could never figure out the latency issues so I just default to E3N when im running on EMU. I have never used the RGmercs-Lua
 
There's one delay in the kissassist.mac that if reduced, cleans up the latency. Just open the mac in an IDE and search for the word delay. Theres a 5 second one, reduce that.
