Question - What would cause EMU MQ2 to not select the server via autologin?

I'm doing something wrong.

Profiles are set, logs in account, but it won't select the server.

I've set the short and long names, profiles are set.

Current format:
Shortname=[ ] servername as it appears in list

Or

Shortname=[ [R ] ] servername

Both are unsuccessful. Is there a different format for this version of MQ2?

you must use the proper short name of the server
for example on lazarus the short name is "Project Lazarus" and not whatever you used to put in like laz or plaz or whatever.

Hmmm. It's correct. It opens account login fine. But the short and long names are correct. Got it from server owner

You'd have better luck using projecteq server host. The EQ EMU one probably works as long as its entered right but the other is more straightforward.

Swap Project Lazarus for whatever emu server it is you're trying to setup

1. Go to Project Lazarus install folder
Open eqhost.txt
Replace host=<whatever>
with
host=login.projecteq.net:5999

2. right click your MQ icon > profiles > open INI file
Make sure you have a [Servers] section in your INI file like:

[Servers]
Project Lazarus=Project Lazarus

3. Make sure your profiles begin with project lazarus like:
project lazarus:toonname_Blob=01000000D08C9...

4. exit MQ in taskbar
5. relaunch MQ from rg launcher

I did all of that and it still won't get past the server select.

Would this be a Windows 11 thing?

For Laz, it should be...

[Servers]
lazarus=[] Project Lazarus

I think your issue may have been the space in [ ]

If it doesn't select the server then the long name is incorrect.

if it backs out of character select then the short name is incorrect.

then of course, make sure the profile correctly links to the proper shortname.

Man idk what is going on. I've checked all of those.

I'm trying to use Quillmane server.

I've tried [] method and the eqemulator method woth the [[R] ] Quill....

Still logs in account fine then its grayed out, but I can still scroll the server list.

For that server, the server shortname is Quillmane. The server name in the server select list with projecteq is Quillmane Progression Classic

This worked for me in MQ2AutoLogin.ini:

[Servers]
Quillmane=Quillmane Progression Classic

and then use the MQ create autologin profile with:

server=quillmane

that was again with the projecteq host in eqhosts.txt. I don't have mine pointed at eqemulator but that one would look something like

Don't have a emu install pointing at eqemu host and forget what it was so can't try that one atm.

When you say use MQ create autologin, where is that? I'm used to just adjusting the .ini in the root folder...

And from what I'm reading MQ is the new name? And MQ2 is legacy?

When you right click MQ in the taskbar, create profiles from there.

You get a window to fill out the profile:
