Question - What will you do with your free Heroic Characters?

In the next few days I am going to make nine (9) new accounts to take advantage of the free heroic characters. When completed, this will give me eighteen (18) accounts. Since there are sixteen (16) classes in EQ, I am thinking that I will have one of every class on an account and then an extra Bard and Zerker. The goal is to try and do some old raid content and simply have fun. I recognize that the new accounts will only have access up to RoS and I have no plans to upgrade any of them to ToV. My questions are: is it viable to have one of each class in doing EoK raids? Or do I need to stack up multiple DPS classes? How difficult are the raids? (I have not actively raided since PoP)

Lastly, what plans do you all have with your heroic characters?
 
I've way to many accounts now, but on my main account's I'll make a new set of 6 to mess with, might try a War, Clr, Brd, Rog, Rog, Rog group for fun!
 
I'm with @VorpalChicken I really have too many accounts as it is. However I can't resist so.... I'll probably make at least 6 more I will also enjoy getting the free heroics on my existing accounts.
 
I got a jump on things in case issues come up as we get closer.

I have made a tinker rogue, normal wiz, mage and necro.

Already have most of these guys but just want them on separate accounts since they can't get it together enough to do account transfers anymore

I think if you plan to raid some old content you may want to try a few of each class just in case. I think there are some old macros for running a few different raids in RoS and below, but you'd have to hunt the forums for them!

Make sure you have a wiz and a mage in there somewhere just for porting everyone around!

Don't forget to keep an extra throw-away heroic to swap around to the different shaman varieties for imbuing stuff.
 
I don’t plan on making a guild just for them but it’s not a bad idea. I like sum1’s idea of making a bunch of rogues to gather collection items. It made me think of a guild on Povar, years ago, called the Legion of Little People. You had to be a dwarf, halfling or gnome to join. While it sounded like a good idea, that discrimination had its shortcomings since that would disallow Shaman, beastlords, and bards.
Yes I have plans to incorporate one wiz and mage. I will think more on it since it does sound like a pipe dream to have one of each class on an account, there is more power with combining synergy and alliance with the classes.
 
Agreed with your synergy/alliance. A friend of mine said that the rogue has some issues with the shiny hunting due to mobs that see through SOS. I made a heroic rogue, but it turns out I just enjoy casters more than any other melee class. It frustrates me that a Beastlord doesn't even get it's first pet until level 10 (I think) when the whole premise is BEAST-LORD. They should get a pet at level 1 - even if it's a kitten.
 
- All players who log in to EverQuest during our 21st Anniversary Celebration will receive a claimable Heroic Character! This character can only be redeemed once per account.

From the patch notes. It does not state or imply that it only applies to subbed accounts.
 
It seems silly to me to have a second max lvl 85, when I have a 110.
Can I apply the heroic character to my 110? To get the bags? And I have 1 guy that got a subscription at lvl 80, so maybe I could get those AAs

Yes, you can Heroic an existing character just make sure you leave inventory space for the stuff that gets granted. It's sort of nice to be able to back fill the MPG trials and DoN progression and some other stuff as well when you do that
 
I am just logging into test and the patch notes now state that only All Access members will get a free heroic character on March 11th.

They probably saw tons of new accounts be created by existing customers since the initial announcement, which I'm sure absolutely nobody could have anticipated. No sir, completely unpredictable.
 
that's a total bummer for live. I honestly don't know why they would have an issue for non subbed accounts to get a free 85 toon...its not max level or anything and can help new people get ahead in the game. It is also a nice reward for people who are existing that still play the game.

Since Test is automatically given gold status, I hope we still get a heroic toon! Would give me a great start on my 3rd set of toons to get all classes :D:D
 
Now it states: "All Access members who log in to Everquest during out 21st Anniversary Celebration (between March 16th and May 10th) will receive a claimable Heroic Character! This character can only be redeemed once per account." Image attached.

I just logged into an account, which is All Access, on the Test Server, and the Heroic Character option is not yet active. I have a level 2 Mule on FV and was not able to upgrade him.

Wait, so if I have a level 115 and I use the "heroic" option ON that level 115, it'll back fill things for me and give me the bag etc? It won't cause the 115 to be de-leveled to 85?

at least that is how it worked so far.
 
What would be the reason to use heroic char on a 115? Are the bags that good?
 
@Mikey02 you get 2 24 slot bags. I think there is something that gives you free mercenaries for a while, and a XP potions, 15K plat.
And a bunch of other stuff you probably don't care about.

Hummm seems like a waste to use it on a max lvl char. Would be more useful to create a utility alt to sub in for your team when needed.

Each of them is worth one upkeep-interval (so better not use them with lowlevel mercs).

Yeah - I already started to undust my spreadsheet detailing the accounts I have *lol* But no way I am going to subscribe them all (unless I maybe had an unreal amount of Krono - that would change the game).

Depends.
If you never got to do DoN Progression or OOW (Trials of Mata Muram) you will love to have those flags afterwards.[/USER][/QUOTE]

Yes, OOW, all but Mata Muram if I recall right, and DON, all but the final Dragon. So your AA Tab show those on heroics.


Edit: I did not have any chars on to actually check when I babbled above. So I looked on a Heroic, Trials of Mata Muram AA is 6/6, Power of the Keepers (DoN) is not there at all.

Heroics get these progression AA bonuses:

Power of the Keepers or Dark Reign 4/5 (DoN) - +10 stats & stat cap, +2% max health, +250 mana/end, +1 buff slot limit, +1% crit chance to melee/heals/nukes. If you complete 5/5 yourself it adds a chance to resist detrimental spells.

Trials of Mata Muram 6/6 (OoW) - +50 to all resists except corruption.

If I can get heroic characters on F2P accounts I'll leverage them to flesh out a raid force. If I have to sub to get them -- probably nothing as I don't really feel like playing a second set of characters on my live accounts at the moment.

Odd - this caused me to check one of my Heroic - he has Trials 6/6 and above that in the list is Power at 4/5. This is under AA-Special.

Now I check my non heroic guy who has done them all and he has Trials 6/6 BUT he does not have POWER of the Keepers but instead has SANCITY of the Keepers at 5/5 and the top level does the same thing as the one on my heroic at 4/5.

So not sure what my Heroic needs to do to get #5 - not seeing any thing under the /ach area.

But perhaps your Heroic already did DON and has Sancity instead of Power?
