Use this thread to suggest various resources (macros, plugins, utils) that should be added to Very Vanilla.

Is there a standard corpse retrieval macro?

Does there happen to be an add-on to the map that would highlight see-invis or see-through-everything mobs?

Bump x10 lordtweak!

ALSO I appologize if the below has been done, or already suggested. The idea just hit me as I went to bump. TL:DR on bottom

I am in the process of learning how, what i can and cannot do with this software. And it came to my attention I can fully remote control my tank (or whatever else i want with the /bcg .. so mybuttons would be nice from what i have read. Also, adding to a new compile IMHO, as a noob to MQ2, and not really knowing "the diffrence from loading a plug in, and running it with the .ini mods. there are many resources out there on "how to get and install, but not many indepth walkthrough. I have 0 coding, or programming I may have dabbled with dreamweaver once but honestly even the social hotbuttons were new to me.

Imagine with me, you just unzip your new MQ2, and as far as you "know" its plugin and play (lil humor) well you go to run it for the first time load your plugins and have no idea how they react with the enviornment.... I mean MQ2Melee for example there are so many events in the ini, i am so overwhelmed on this learning curve.

if you included a A-Z "unboxing" initial setup ** generic ** settings like a read me text with before they leave GGH they have it at least training wheels on for their first run. As it is right now I have been around to quite a few resources to educate myself, however I am sure there are people with whom the frusteration level would be overwhelming and may intimidate.

honestly, not to proud to admit it, i need someone to hold my hand getting these basic parameters up and im sure i am not doing things to the best efficency. I am an alt+tab 2box player and dont know what is a must have and what is the fluff. So i am just trial and error with everything.

I have found the plug and play ini for class, but is that what i want to do and how i want it ran? do i need to make mods? when do i initiate commands and like a fool i made a /bcaa // Target > // stick //attack on .... then after about 3 min of my war running around the training dummy I clicked the attack off, and he wouldnt stop, I tried to run away (but i was stuck ... >.<) so I did the only thing i could think of.... gate pot... I didnt know the parameter was set to /kill .... long story short is how did you feel the first time you attempted to use something out of your comfort zone? did you have a mentor? trainer? friend or someone offer you "insider" information? I would love to see a YT vid with someone just getting a new machine, and having to reinstall everything (assuming they dont mirror the old HD content) and just showing some of the subtle yet real struggles getting it from a shell of a function to a finely tuned PERSONALIZED situation. THEN maybe some heres what i use in my EQ social macros for X Y and Z you can use these and they will do this, or if you want X to happen, make sure you do Y before Z... EDIT" I still dont know if when i /plugin MQ2beawesome on one box, if I have to also do the same command for the other toons.... time to do more research i suppose

TL:DR
Tool tips for 1st timers, training tips for easing into the world of MQ2 and kissassist. (love it sofar) but the struggle is real.

my EQ journey was est. 2000-2001 when I enlisted in the Air Force I became an on and off again player, left a few months after PoP release and returned to TBM pre-release only to be forced to leave a few months later. NOW, I am back and its like playing the game for the first time.... kinda... april of this year is when I came back. (cazic server) to find, not only do I barely know what I should be doing progression class and so on, not to mention I have NO earthly idea what I am doing with MQ2.

However, If the above suggestion makes sense or even interests some of you Devs, and or fans I would be happy to offer my services to compile a few documents and walk through (as I am taking so many notes as it is while i research) It would be easy for me to speak to the "lay person" and in way they may appreciate.

Thank you for reading and consideration. If I get things set up in a reasonable

Here's the last version of MQ2MYButtons that RG used, can't get it to compile :(

If anyone wants to resurrect it, 10 krono to a character of your choice!

I have to fully agree. I do my research, search the Wiki's and dig deep into the forums for ways to use some plugins. (Mq2melee being one of them) I am still certain I do not fully understand them, know all of their commands and uses. I really struggle with Holyshits, downshits, condition coding, setting up mq2melee. OMG, ever try setting up MQ2moveutils, then trying to figure if it is that, kissassist or MQ2melee moving you toon around.... I have to have a /unload button ready so I do not look like a fool when things get out of control. I box 7 toons on one computer. I have had to ask a lot of questions in the recent past. The community is great for offering up ideas and they even work! I think I am getting a little of track here, but the point to my ranting:

I agree the struggle is real, while tool tips is a great idea, I think a MQ2 for dummies plugin section would be great. A detailed list of commands and some example set-ups in one spot, so noobs like me could use plugin's to their full potential.

I would really love it if the UI component had a drop down window (and maybe a linked key to open and close it), similar to the mq2nav UI.

Well, for the most part, I am strictly a utility type person. For me, the basic kissassist works just fine, straight out of the box.

A couple caveats, when you are working with your auto attack, the way to cancel it, is simply to hit the escape button, to clear the target.

As far as each character is concerned, there is an ini file created the first time you run kissassist on a character. Open that text document with notepad to edit it. Basically, you just want to go through and replace spells listed with the preferred spells you wish to use, depending on different circumstances. Each section is labeled, and the variable names are pretty straight forward. Just make sure that you have the appropriate rank for the spells you want to use, i.e. rk. iii, rk. ii, rk. i.

I hope this helps. Honestly, any attempt to make a tutorial for all of this would simply force people to leave the training wheels on for life. Need is the key to learning. Just look up what you want to do to see if someone else has done that, and if so, how.

Other than that, its a bit of work to get set up if you want to do intricate detailed stuff, but, for simple grouping, the basic setup should be perfectly fine for most.

hi Redbot, I'd say MQ2EQWire would be a great add to the Vanilla. I don;t know if there is something to be worked out with Mule, but it looks pretty awesome. Anyways just tossing in a vote.

Edit: And what I mean is so its included as part of the updater and autoupdates and is part of KISS. I know its free to try in Vanilla. Mule is awesome.

MQ2EQWire is certainly an awesome plugin and I recommend everyone picking it up - however, I think for a good chunk of people, its not something that they might need out-the-gate, and I don't mind tossing a couple bucks around here and there for things that people put extra work into that supplements my mq2 experience

Something that should be added is a set of pre-done ini's for Kissassist, I'd suggest level 85, all setup to make any level 85 (heroic) character to be played right out of the box, it would also give people something to build on for higher level toons. This would purely be be for ease of life for new users

@VorpalChicken and @Sicprofundus would you guys be willing that we got together in discord chat and got those inis made?

My thought was to have @Redbot add a folder with Level85 inis, and a simple instruction on how to get em running. like copy to main macro folder, rename to your character name. go for win.

@kaen01 sure I'm up for that, I think we need to make things a little easier for new people, I still remember my struggles in getting started

yah for sure, already talking to Redbot about it - this is one of the projects i mentioned to you yesterday kaen

Level 85 Heroic ini's for KA11 would be awesome, I basically used these as a starting point for all of mine, and heroics are relatively common.

I'm just about ready to upload an 85 War/Cle/Chanter, although only the chanter is heroic. Been spending a lot of time tweaking those three with my toons the past couple of weeks. Don't know how helpful as a baseline, but mostly all you'd need to add are the armor clickies, and verify that the base AA's align with a heroic.

Granted others will have differences of opinion on whether my skill lineup is right, but these do work for me. I'm still tanking whites and yellows with ease, and can even handle 2-3 adds fairly regularly, although I do have a few wipes with 3 yellows on me still.
