Question - Warrior as DPS

Is anyone using a war just as a dps and occasional offtank as needed ?

Would be interesting. Right now, with a wurm (still) and t3 weapon mine does about 160k with dual wield.

I imagine with 2 war weapons he might be around 190k sustained that is

Ive seen wars do some major dps when not tanking , put a 2h or dual wield and let it rip . Been trying to modify an ini , but Im not very good lol .

MQ2War kicks out some decent dps tbh - my group geared warrior averages around 300k across a couple hours when tanking - which is comparable to most decent Caster ini's I suppose.

Combined: 4357s, 3,691.5m @847267sdps | #1 Warrior 1,277.3m@(297.0k dps in 4300s) [34.6%]

My war is 113 and uses mq2war and IHC, when he's equipped with a 2H he does pretty good dps!

I have tried MQ2War with war on assist , seems to do well . Not sure since I havent been able to figure out how to parse hehe .

While tanking. Wars can do very nice DPS, if you use the right button combinations.


I should say im a raid tank also, and very well geared.... My numbers are gana be higher than most.

Looking at all these parses, I'm going to have to go back and reconfigure my ini for more dps! I've always focused on tanking, but it looks like I'm leaving too much on the table

If you haven't already, stack heroic dex.... it's a sizable dps increase over heroic agi, and for very little difference in tanking ability (for group game at least).

For me, the difference between 2000 HAgi and 2000 HDex parsed at only a 0.5% increase in damage taken over the course of an evening.... but I went from averaging 220kdps to around 300k (dual wield tanking)

This is the case for all tanks in the group game. If you aren't raiding, Heroic Dex should be *the* stat that you stack. If you raid, then hAgi or hSta should be the stat, for better tanking ability (avoidance, mitigation, etc).

@ABWar I used to stack dex. Granted it was with TBM augs, but I've shifted to Hagi. I had no clue the DPS gains were that crazy

Are you running a bard in your group where you get those numbers?

Yeah, there's usually a bard around... and dual wielding the T3 and T2 War Axes

My warrior always seems to do well DPS wise when compare to the rest of my group. This is with me Pling Rogue, Bard, and Cleric.

What do you use to generate reports like that? Using DPS Advance but only has the basic info.

Gamparse is 1 type of 3rd party program that will do that.

Just wanted to post an update here. I switched my group up a lot. I dropped SHM, MAG, MNK, ENC and added BRD, BST, BER, BER.

I was getting tired of not having enough DPS to get some stuff done, so I upgraded. Especially in the burst department.

My warrior (Running KA12) dps has doubled. He is in DW mode and has great gear, but not raid gear.

All of my other characters are silver and I dont have the bard's epic. Everyone is running KA12, except BERs are running chat's plugin

-I’m auged for Hagi by the way, could probably squeak out another 40-50k if I had gone Hdex


This parse is sustained killing for 1 hour in ToV...
I think with burst DPS, for example a 30 sec fight, I can probably get 750k out of the WAR in DW, maybe more. I'll try and test that soon

Not bad at all, Bard is definitely our single biggest boon as far as ADPS goes.

To give you an idea of what effect hDex has, I've increased mine further since last post..... this is over around 3.5hrs across Velks and tofs raid instance trash, with a Bard (and shaman). We're probably similarly geared, all T3 group gear with the exception of a T2 weapon (dual wielding war axes ftw!) and TBL chase stuff.

Combined: A mindless orc in 12979s, 14,684.1m @1131374sdps | #1 Warrior 4,741.7m@(365.3k dps in 12979s) [32.29%]

I can tip over a million on short bursts like Griklor regularly, highest I've seen is 1.3m... but I have to get cheesy with a 2-hander to get that high (fort and fellstrike)
