so I downloaded the BETA installer. installed fine. when I go to run it says i need to run MQ2Auth.exe???

I looked and I dont have this exe file.. or am I missing something special ?..

You need to make a copy of your mq folder the direct the installer to the new folder when you install it

Spoke to soon. I copied my live MQ2 folder to a new Beta folder and then ran the Beta installer. After running the Updater I still get the message:

This copy of MacroQuest is not authorized to run on this computer.

Please run MQ2Auth.exe to correct the problem.

same here.

copied Live folder to Beta folder. ran install and pointed to new Beta folder. updated shows Beta updates but when try to start it gives the same message about mq2auth.

MQ2auth.exe is part of the core MQ2compile from the MQ2 site. Unless something has changed, I don't think the RedGuides compile requires the MQ2Auth.exe file. But I guess the installer is something new.

sorry everyone I'll double check this tonight

edit: fixed, run update.exe

I was able to get right through the process with no problems at all and get into beta...(mobs hit like tanks by the way, soloing was dirt nap after dirt nap lol, though it might have been the booze...)

Are you all trying to get to beta "clean" or are you initiating mq first intending to run mq in beta? Like I said, I had no mq running and had no probs getting logged in there.
