Very Vanilla MQ (Live Servers)

Vanilla - Very Vanilla MQ (Live Servers) (6 Viewers) 3.1.52471.11

No permission to download
I am having an issue with the latest updated version. Since updating the character in the foreground is laggy while the background character act normal. There have been no setting changes other than downloading the latest version. This has made the game unplayable.

I am running multiple characters using ISBoxer and RG MQ. There was no issue with the previous version and no changes to any ingame settings or MQ settings. Other than the version of RG MQ downloads nothing on my end has changed.

V/r,

I am having this exact same problem. I closed down, cleared dust from the laptop vents, and restarted. But still had the issue, which may not be related to MQ at all. However, I am unable to manually play 6 chars to test without MQ loaded :(

as soon as I unloaded mq2 on all characters the foreground character lag completely disappeared.

thanks for the suggestion.
So the reason i asked was to see if it was EQ or MQ. I am assuming your on live? Maybe one of the devs can jump in, I dont think there was a core change, just odds and ends patched. I am fine, but I am 1 update behind (dont scold me Kaen).

there were no MQ changes in the last several builds - just mq2druid patches. (and items.txt on 9/11, 9/13, and 9/15 - and not tonight for tonight's build) - but no other mq changes at all since last patch

keep in mind eq is having ALL sorts of issues atm causing ALL sorts of problems for folks, but no, the 9/17/23 build doesn't have anything in it

Check your frame limiter settings. Re-apply whatever those settings are to see if it's just a random thing.

I've been crashing a lot lately. Anyone else having issues?
Yes. Alot of people have, unfortunately:(

Eq has some serious issues related to the UI changes. For some folks turning the off the new ui helps.

Hopefully we don't see the dumpster fire of the dx11 changes (on test currently) until they fix all of those issues

"will be a late patch update today. Patch wasn't released before I had to head to work" - Brainiac

What to expect on patch days?
When eq patches MQ has to be rebuilt. (you also have to patch EQ --- this way you avoid "Version Mismatch" issues)

once mq is built RG can build - we now have an automated system that rebuilds RG as soon as it is updated - which means our previous method of "let's give it a quick test" is no longer there, and sometimes there ends up being another smaller patch later to correct if something got missed - so re-check on patch days if you are having issues.

eq could change literally anything and it would require the way MQ interacts with that portion of EQ to be completely reworked. It is normally just offsets, sometimes struct changes --- with the large changes eq has been making over the past few months (updates and backend improvements) there are more things than just offset changes that are happening, so it can certainly be a lot of work for the devs.

Curious when Very Vanilla will be updated?

MacroQuest for Test server

EQ patches go like this: (in theory)
2nd* tue/wed = test "real" patch
3rd* wed = live patch
4th* tue/wed = test "true up

the tue over the wed is a more recent thing (I suspect klanderso has more to do with that, and having time to ensure working stuff before the weekend and upset people - klanderso is pretty awesome)
* holidays subject to cause shifts in days or even week

test is notorious for being like "oops we forgot the 'dont crash plz' file, gotta patch again", or "woops we added +1 to crashing, we meant -1", so "on paper" it is double the patches, but very frequently ends up being more than double the work (i imagine, I'm not doing the work - I'd love to learn enough at some point to help facilitate doing so, however)

Mq itself is open source and by volunteer(s) - RG which builds and distributes that is obviously paid for.

looking forward to being able to play EQ again :)
in the mean time, if there is anything I can help with coding, for anyone/anywhere, related to MQ/RG I'd be happy to help. My job doesn't let me code every day anymore and its sad :(

Having issues... everything was working great until.. the patch today? any insight?
