Very Vanilla installer & updater discussion (1 Viewer)

very new here. previously I used mmobugs and had a friend that helped walk me through the setup stages. my current issue is getting the loader and auto login to use wineq instead of the default loading option. I play on my tv and eq doesn't want to accept my chosen resolutions it seems but win eq manually loaded will.

Posted this elsewhere but now I see this thread is the place to put it. I am getting the following:

"Error trying to save file: Error downloading "https://www.redguides.com/update/live/?update=veryvanilla.20160925.to.20161012.wyu&pkey=": The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request."
Make sure you're running Update.exe, not wyUpdate.exe. If the problem persists, delete the "cookie" file (usually found in your release folder). You may need to reboot in order to delete it.

I have been trying to install Very Vanilla and get it running, but after the install, it doesnt work.... after going over this thread, the only thing i think that might be off is that my update.exe when run as admin opens up wyUpdate.... Is that normal? If not, how do i fix?

That's normal to run wyupdate. Sorry you're having issues, what server are you attempting to run on? We have 4 versions of very vanilla at the moment (live, test, emu, beta) so make sure you have the right one for your server.

Witch antivirus is it. I use trend and while i have set up exceptions i find its better just to turn off. Trend thinks its ransomware and making unauthorized changes. Fore installing and first update you really need to turn off fire wall and anti-virus. Just long enough to download and update. Then you can set up exceptions. Don't for get to run as admin.

When trying to run the update I get the popup that Wyupdate has stopped working. I ran RG very vanilla on this computer just a few months ago and nothing has been changed.

If you look in your event log under Applications and filter by error it should have an error that you can paste here to tell what's going on.

That's odd. My guess is antivirus conflicting, or missing .net framework version? Can you show us the exact error message?

Hi Guys and idea what I'm doing wrong? i have had to change computers for 1 reason or another and i have downloaded a new install of redguides, but when it gets to the updating step, it fails and a window pops up with "an app on your PC needs the follow widows feature.
However there is no feature there is just a grayed out "install this feature"
and under that there is a blue section that says skip this installation.. your app might not work correctly without this feature.
and well its correct the app doesnt work.
any ideas what im doing wrong ? please

I would guess you need a .net version that you don't have. Make sure you right click and run the installer as "admin" if it didn't prompt you to do so and then see if the install works.

Look in your Release folder. Do you have a "cookie" file? Delete it.

Look again in your Release folder. Do you have a "client.wyc" file? If not, you may need to grab the client.wyc file from a zip here, or just reinstall.

MQUI_CompaerTipWnd.xml not found in UIFiles\defualt
Can retry
/plugin mq2itemdisplay unload then /plugin mq2itemdisplay

That isn't working.

Then
/mac kissasisst

Couldn't open macro file and gives the path

Check for a folder I'm your release directory called uifiles. You should find that xml there and be able to copy it into your eq directory in the folder of whatever ui you may be using.

@Redbot couple recommendations for install/zip macros

autohate.txt and autohate.mac are duplicates
chat.mac no longer needed as it is for IRC not Discord
combine.mac is useless with make all as an option for tradeskills
while.mac this example is ok I guess but would rather read info on wiki or if you want example macro for learning should be indicated as such, otherwise useless

I disagree. Combine.mac is still very useful especially since the make all button doesn't always go until all components are used up.

I gotta disagree about combine.mac, I use it all the time, make all is a nice idea but when you go afk doing combines and find that a lag spike killed your combines 2 minutes after you left its not such a nice idea....while combine.mac will keep chugging along!

Disagree, as well. The in-game “make all” selection will fail periodically, which is likely to make sure people stay at the keyboard. The combine.mac keeps it going even if that happens.

Actually, my sentence was accurate. I could not play because the servers were down. I also could not play while using MQ because again, the servers were down. :-(
