i'm getting this error when i try and run the update any ideas?

As of my last understanding, MQ2 works on all progression servers that are not "TRUE BOX" servers.

The code to disable MQ2 on specific "True Box" servers is there.....

MQ2 works on Ragefire / Lockjaw .. etc... just don't expect the true box server(s) to function with it.

Yes.. the reason was agreed upon by both the top MQ2 Code developers and the owners / admins of MQ2 distribution web sites...... "Don't piss off SOE / Daybreak, since they can already detect MQ2.... otherwise we are just offering up our users for bans..."

SOE/Daybreak spent a sh*t load of money to be able to develop a way to accurately detect MQ2 on any client connected to them.... so don't think for a second they don't know ....

When the true box phinny was rolled out.. it was a unilateral decision not to rock the boat and piss them off... and simply disable boxing on any true box server....

Can the source code be reverted to allow boxing on true box server.... sure.... will it get you perma-banned if you use that version.... damn straight it will.

So there is your answer.

Hmmmm, For some reason when I run it it prompts me to click ok to run as an Admin.. Then it doesn't finish... Im gonna uninstall completely again and try it another time.

Easy ass method... create a shortcut for update.exe and place it on the desktop... rename it so you remember what it is... select and then right click the shortcut... select PROPERTIES... and under SHORTCUT tab click RUN AS ADMIN... then select OK and your done....

Your being prompted because you did not set the properties of the executable to run as admin always..... do it once for a shortcut of it.. and never worry again.. what your seeing is normal.

Where did it stop responding? Did you try deleting the cookie file? (found in your release folder).

It downloaded all the files, then it spent an absolute age extracting them (it was saying it was extracting at about 6kb/sec).
I did get an error message that it couldn't save a particular file, but to be honest I was a little frustrated and just clicked close on the error message instead of writing it down.
Haven't deleted the cookie file as of yet.

Deleted cookie, restarted update and this time it worked flawlessly.

Please reboot, disable any antivirus, close extraneous programs, delete the cookie file, and try again. If you get the same issue: what version of windows are you using?

it says the date and time of eqgame was not what mq expected it to be Sep. 11 2017 "injection can not be completed", I even reinstalled everything. It was working fine before the last update on the test server.

also on top of the box it says either mq2 or eqgame is out of date

Test server was patched yesterday. A new compile hasn't been release yet. Should be up later tonight.

Hi Maha,
Delete the "cookie" file (usually found in your release folder). You may need to reboot in order to delete it.

Ok here's what happened...just in case someone else has a similar problem. When I installed with the Very Vanilla MQ2 installer... I told it to install to my d: drive where most all my other proggies live. Well...seems the updater was only happy about that...sorta. Some of it got installed on D: drive...and the rest got installed on C: drive. So I moved things around and redirected the shortcuts to actually be to the places they were supposed to be...and viola! All workie. Thank you for the heads up on the cookie file. I deleted it too... after I found the "real" MQ2 folder with the Release folder in it.

Changes: added mq2autologin to default plugins, added the new eqbcs.exe, deleted mq2eqbcs.exe.

Just installed MQ2 and was super excited, however I am unable to launch MQ2 it keeps complaining about "The date and time of eqgame was not what mq expected it to be May 10 2013 23:30:08. Injection can not be completed." I am on the PEG EMU Server. Can someone please help me resolve this? Thanks.

Hey Guy,

I'm not sure what's wrong but we'll figure it out.

What version of Windows are you running?
How much space do you have free on C:\?
Do you have .net framework? Check windows updates and let me know

It was my .net framework. I seriously gave up as you can see in the delay in reply.

I don't have an activated version of Win10 so my windows updates are hit and miss.
I fixed the problems by following https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=7&v=ZHQqb7IOHZE Take a look maybe you can emplement this into your guide

What date is your eqgame.exe? Is macroquest2 actually pointing to that exe?
