Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131114

Who is the dev on this? I'd like to donate to thank them for their efforts in getting the compile to us quickly!

Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131208

my game crashes before the character gets into the world, and the mq2 icon in the tray says "need recompile"

going to try a fresh install.

fresh install says "Macroquest.ini" not found

Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131208

Just copy the Macroquest.ini from the zip file to your mq2 folder. Ignore the need recompile thats a harmless message. I am checking the compile to see if I missed an update.

Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131208

Everything worked like u said but when i tried to turn on MQ2Melee it crashes everytime.

Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131208

Do you have holy and/or down shits. If so backup your mq2melee.ini file then delete them and see if it works.

Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131208

I just have the regular one.

Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131208

is the toon naked by chance with nothing in thier inventory slots?

Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131208

I just copied the download to a new folder, started mq2 from there, and I could log in. but as soon as I starts kissassist I crashed.

Re: Very Vanilla Compile TEST SERVER 20131208

seems mq2melee is an issue we are trying to debug now. fix won't be until tomorrow sorry about the delay.

So here are my issues with the new compile (20131209) I launch EQ, get into the game. I then launch MacroQuest2.exe as soon as I click back into the game I get "eqgame.exe has stopped working" with two buttons to choose Debug and Close Program, I always select Close Progam....... the final error I get is that eqgame.exe caused DEP (Data Execution Prevention) error. Just passing this along as not sure if it just me or others are having this issue and haven't posted it yet.

have you launched mq2 first, and then eq? ive never done it that way, but i bypass the patcher all together too

*edit

only asking because i did it my way, and im in game now and its running perfectly fine

Sounds like you still have the old dlls or something that was causing the crashing 2 days go. Delete all the dll files in your macroquest2 folder and copy them back in using the RGUpdater please.

If you are using a custom UI change to the default UI.

I had done that and was still getting the crash. What I have done, that appears to have fixed my issue... I ran the updater and only selected the plugins for KA then launched everything. No issues, then I started adding additional plugins with the updater and now everything appears to work as it was for me before. I believe I had some plugins selected that was causing the crash. As to what those were I don't know because I have a slim selection of plugins now that work for me.

I'm having an issue with the Test compile, namely that MQ2 won't load at all. The regular compile (1211a) works fine on live. Loads up and works beautifully. However, on Test, the Test compile (1209) doesn't work at all.

Fresh install (first time using RG's MQ2), each type has its own install (RG MQ2 for live, RG MQ2 Test for test), and I followed the instructions from the manual. The only plugins I have checked are the default ones (didn't mess with) and the ones suggested for KissAssist. But when I start MQ2, I get the taskbar icon but nothing actually happens. No matter what order I start it in (MQ2 first then the nopatch EQ or WinEQ2 EQ or EQ Updater then MQ2 when I reach the character select screen, always with 'Run as Administrator'). No matter how I've done it, nothing ever happens beyond the taskbar icon showing up.

Help?

Make sure eqgame.exe in your test EverQuest is run as admin too. See if that works.

Hrmm. What you are describing really sounds like a run as admin issue. Please double check your macroquest2.exe in the test compile folder is set to run as Admin please.

I'm stumped. Try the same setup on a 2nd pc or a laptop?

Simpler than that.

I have two EQ installs, one for live and one for Test. When I use the updater to log in to Test with my Live install, MQ2 works fine (after launching it when I get to character select). It's the Test install that has a problem. So, I'm going to clear out the Test install and copy the Live install to that folder and see if that works.

EDIT: Nope. But, I don't care. As long as one install works, I'm all good.

Thanks for the help. :)

I had this problem with the live version, and I simply had to extract from the zip by hand. I think RGupdater caused some sort of permissions thing in the .dll's, but I couldn't track it down. When I extracted manually, it worked fine. Same thing though, Test and Live on the same computer under different folders.

I'm going to have to try that since playing with only one client, isn't really playing at all for me. I can get MQ2 to load for one window but since the patcher won't allow multiple instances to be opened (it says 'Playing' and won't launch any over 1), I need a solution that allows me to have MQ2 running on multiple client instances. I've been setting up KISS inis for my characters but once that's done, I'll actually want to play.

EDIT: No joy. Cleared out the MQ2 Test folder, extracted the compile's zip into the folder and tried to run it with both a patchme shortcut and WinEQ2 and in both instances, MQ wouldn't load. Taskbar icon showed up but no MQ2 window ingame. Shut down MQ2 (right-clicked the taskbar icon and 'exit'), ran the EverQuest launcher, got to character select and launched MQ2 and a few seconds later, both the RedGuides MQ2 window and the MQ2 Updates window popped up. Frustrating to say the least.

MQ2 does not work with the launcher. Macroquest prevents the launcher from running because it has sony spyware in it.

Please read this to set EQ up to bypass the launcher

http://www.redguides.com/community/...he-Patchme-command-to-bypass-the-SOE-Launcher

I think you misunderstand. The launcher gets run until the 'Play' button lights up. Once that button is hit, I shut down the launcher and the game launches fine. Then I run MQ2 when I get to character select. Further, not only does the game launch fine but MQ2 works after the game loads under that condition (and ONLY under that condition). Let me see if I can illustrate this in a clearer fashion:

1. Launch EverQuest launcher.
2. Log in
3. Press 'Play'
4. Close launcher
5. Three seconds later, I'm looking at the server select screen
6. Click 'Test'
7. At character select, click Macroquest shortcut (from the Start Menu or from the folder it's housed in)
8. Click on the EQ window (or alt-tab back to it) and there is the RedGuides window (in the upper left hand corner of the screen) and the MQ2 update window (going across the middle of the screen, until I resize it)

That is the only way that I've found that MQ2 will work for me on Test. Using the method in the thread you linked (which is what I'd been used to for 10+ years) does not work for me. That's the problem I'm having. I hate running the launcher at all because it doesn't allow multiple instances of the game (among other things). I've run EQ using WinEQ or ISBoxer for years and that is my preferred method. But that isn't what works for me right now. Wish it did. :p
