Release Tradeskill Construction Set NeXt 4.1991b

I'm having trouble getting started. I want to use Batch to take 500 of two types of fish, scale them and render them into sheets via patch and swatch. How do I tell it to do the entire 500 of each? The "want" seems to be the output of say, Swatch, whichwill get to max value way before I'm done with fish scaling. I want to create a batch job that completely renders all of my fish into sheets.

I would get a count of how many Razorfang Viperfish I have and then just say make sheets. I would count up the Maw fish and then make scales and then make sheets. If that makes sense

So a batch of sheets
Batch of scales with maw fish
then batch of sheets

or

maw scales
viper scales
batch sheets

For the sheets, to me it is easier to do those with the new TS UI, and just let it auto-combine and pull from the TS Depot. I use TCN to make the first one to learn the recipe, then do the rest through the TS container. I just did 70k fish scales from fish, now turning them into patches. I may have to sit there for a few hours, but it saves time later on.

As they say "There is more than one way to skin a fish"

So, I've spent a number of hours using this and it is fantastic. Amazing job! I do have some feedback, all of which is based on my observation - which can be wrong, misunderstood, or just silly. But, I'll offer what I've seen.

General Improvements:
(Again, these could be already existing and I just don't know how to use it yet)

1) I'd love to see recipes color coded. I'm using this primarily to max Artisan’s Prize. When I do a search instead of all green, have say green for known recipes and Orange for unknown.
2) I would love to see a "retry" in the Batch window so if a new recipe fails it can get retried in the next round

Bugs
(These may not be bugs, just things I don’t understand)
  • Abort should reset the state machine. Sometimes the app seems to get confused, usually after a failed assembly, or sub assembly and just sort of hangs up. The execute buttons and Text Search Buttons do not process, but the app reports itself to be running. I’d love for Abort to be some sort of reset magic button
  • When initializing it removes illusions – except my Jann’s Veil. I can do this manually, but I was having major pathing problems until I figured this out.
  • The Pause button makes everything disappear. I can’t figure out how to get the UI back
  • I had an issue with stuck items on my cursor for a while. I have 6 instances running and 5 of them were in the Guild Lobby. It seemed to lag down the system something fierce. Several times, my char tried to zone to the lobby with items on the cursor, and that doesn’t work. Maybe add some additional checks on held items before zone clicks.
  • I tried to cut some gems. The recipe called for a Jewler’s Glass which I had, but it was in my bank. The app tried to make another one first. Once stopped and loaded that manually it worked fine.
  • I was tring to make Acolyte's Assault of the Harbinger, and lacked the Focus item. For some reason the system went to PoK and bought silver bars, then quit.
  • Several times in my guild hall I saw “Vendor shopping”, the app sent my char to the lobby, hung around the Magnus for a minute, then went back in and continued fine. Not sure what that was.
  • A number of times, a fail to make a subcomponent caused the system to enter that bob responsive state where I had to exit the LAU and restart.
  • I just can’t figure out the Artisan’s section. I’d love to just say – go make all the jewelry recipes that I don’t know and have – or can buy – components. Is there a way?

Thanks for listening

There is a box you check when you select or load recipes in Artisan that will display a list of known and unknown recipes for that skill.

Abort is a best effort, the "fix" is to hit the restart button to 0 everything out.

  • When initializing it removes illusions – except my Jann’s Veil. I can do this manually, but I was having major pathing problems until I figured this out.
I don't mess with any of that, I leave that up to the user, I just checked, I am not removing illusions, but I am removing levitation and familiars.

  • The Pause button makes everything disappear. I can’t figure out how to get the UI back
/lua pause
  • I had an issue with stuck items on my cursor for a while. I have 6 instances running and 5 of them were in the Guild Lobby. It seemed to lag down the system something fierce. The amount of clear cursor I have in the program is all over the darned place, most of the time it is some laggy thing that for whatever reason was not picked up by the code itself.
  • I tried to cut some gems. The recipe called for a Jewler’s Glass which I had, but it was in my bank. The app tried to make another one first. Once stopped and loaded that manually it worked fine.

If it is in the bank and you have the option on to use the bank it will grab that glass from the bank, the caveat being is if you have a tool in the depot, I do not acknowledge tools in the depot based on it not making any darned sense to put tools in there, it is waste.
  • I was tring to make Acolyte's Assault of the Harbinger, and lacked the Focus item. For some reason the system went to PoK and bought silver bars, then quit.

The silver bars are for the jeweler's glass.
  • Several times in my guild hall I saw “Vendor shopping”, the app sent my char to the lobby, hung around the Magnus for a minute, then went back in and continued fine. Not sure what that was.

I specifically have code to basically say don't leave the area if you do not have to shop, but, I guess it still persists.

  • A number of times, a fail to make a subcomponent caused the system to enter that bob responsive state where I had to exit the LAU and restart.

Would need more context on this.

  • I just can’t figure out the Artisan’s section. I’d love to just say – go make all the jewelry recipes that I don’t know and have – or can buy – components. Is there a way?

When you create a "generate mass list" it allows you to shop ahead of time and buy things instead of multiple trips.

If you select the checkbox for Continue in the main window, it retries until it runs out of materials

Do a /Lua pause tcn to restart the Lua. That command is a toggle. I actually have this buton right below my TCN button in ButtonMaster. You can also see it in the Lua console window, using the EQ button -> MacroQuest -> Lua
  • I just can’t figure out the Artisan’s section. I’d love to just say – go make all the jewelry recipes that I don’t know and have – or can buy – components. Is there a way?
This is my configuration to do just that, make all of the items it can for the 350 path that I have materials for, and have not yet learned. It will not do modern recipes though, so you have to manually do the LS , NOS, or TOB recipes in batch mode is what I did.

Thanks for the replies. As for the color coding, I am hoping that this type of screen can be change to reflect what I know versus what I need to know

So, unless there is access to a magic TLO, it is not "worth" it to color code know/unknown recipes as it would take a bit of time to get it all together for all the skills every time it is run or have an option to do an initial run and then update on demand, but still little value overall. Additionally there are a lot of unlearnable recipes, so even if you made it, it still would not register.

TLDR, it has to output all the known recipes and then bounce them off the lists which only go up to ToL. To put it in perspective, just calculate the time it takes for the recipes to load for research and then add in all the other skills and that is how long you would be potentially waiting each run or on demand run

Well, upon thinking it might not be so bad, but would be I/O intensive depending on how many times run, is the value there if out of 44k recipes you know 20k but 24k are and never will be known?

Instead of playing with the coloring box , how about a tab ... Unknown stuff you need to learn

There are a couple of answers that I am fabricating, one is, for colors, I already have colors for different classes, I would need to change brightness or boldness of them, the other answer I have is I only know for certain we could delineate about 17000 recipes. The rest I am not sure if they show up in the GUI or not as learned. The output file recipes is understood to show recipes you know that count towards 350, there could be some hidden lore in there.

More Thought: This would have to be for every character on every server, and also need an on-demand follow up as needed.

I am doing the Artisan Blacksmithing list and have a very long list of items. Some of them are cultural, and I'll never be able to do them. Is there a way to "ignore" them. Right now there is a length timespan while it times out trying to buy a cultural hammer over and over and over for each culrural item.

Well, it is not that you can't do the recipes, it is that your character can't buy the hammer. I buy with a half elf and then put it on the character..

But anyways you can skip as many recipes as you want using the RecipeSkip field in the prize.db file.

Just an FYI...

This is what happens when your trophies are in the key ring.
Will look into if there is a TLO or something to specify trophies on a key-ring, if there is I will try something, if not, well...

as I type this I take a quick gander and see there are keyring workable things. so I will see what's what.

I did not even think to get another char to buy it! Thanks

FWIW, the last two version of TCN, the "continue" under Batch mode does not work.

Have tested using LS recipes, for a single item, i setup batch, clicked continue then Execute Batch, and when it fails a subcombine, it banks everything. The same for if i check continue after hitting execute batch.

Typically it provides a message "Auto continue mode engaged" or some such, but it isn't outputting this at all. Mentioning because a user above said it'd be nice to have and y'all said it is a feature (and it is), but may be broken currently. I use that fairly often and it just started failing for me on the last two versions.

This wouldn't track well as I made changes to batch on 10/24/2024 4.175b , and I heard not a peep, the change was meant to stop endless batching if there was no way to make the item.

I just tested it and it appears to work (for me). There are a couple of returns related to skill and count that I may need to adjust but overall it appears to be working.

Crashed when I went to do the Craft > Artisan > (any artisan skill)
I tried to run TCGSetup again just in case I messed something up while I mess with stuff and still no luck. happened 3 times in a row. According to Launcher, I'm up to date. if you need any other info let me know

remembered I had this issue before and other people have mentioned it. gonna see if I can find the prize.zip file

ran into a small hiccup making my cresta ear 2. i figured it out though. tcn wanted me to have both jc cut tools. should i just put one of each tool in my bank for the future?

also for fishing what does it look for for trophys? is it just the anniversary pole?

hi, I just had a crash using tcn on Test. I was doing the pottery GoD quest in Abysmal Sea

the bone rod, I believe is it, and it is best, or at least for tcn to have all the tools accessible via the bank, I added a function to make all the jc tools not too long ago in pok.

i must need to update then. i do have them all in the bank now though.

im currently working on fishing to 250 i batched everything but the problem im running is they all make the same item so it skips all the recipes =x i tried using continue and it still just immediatly stops. The artisan tab is working fine though

they all make the item prepared fish the entire list is just prepared fish. so it makes the first one then stops i have this as my settings and after updating i see the fish option so i suspect that is what i need to click

Why anyone would do it this way boggles minds, but anyways, Artisan is what that is designed for..

the reason it don't work in batch is because it sees all prepared fish as the same fish and it thinks you have the fish by the item ID.

An ugly work around would be to increment the count needed for each recipe so the 1st is 1, 2nd is 2, and so on.. for batch

i did it originally because i wasnt used to using the artisan tab. i feel dumb for not using it before. ill probably still do batches for some stuff because i mostly trade a 36 slot bag to my characters with a bunch of stuff in it for a specific set of recipes. but if i do a large amount of combines like this im definatly going to just use artisan tab like if i was doing pop bsm again i would do artisan tab

I tried to make a swiss army knife for many cases, I don't prescribe how you use it, just what I envisioned the intent of the use.

when you do a combine that results in a lore-equipped pop up, it stalls out. When you click the YES button to make it anyway, is there anyway to make it resume?

also, recepie for devotee fortification of harbinger and acolyte's strategy of legacy lost are adding the wrong items.

Generally, if you are making an item that is lore and you have it on person, you need to dump that item somewhere to make the lore item. You could have continue on or do a restart and do it over, but after you have jettisoned the lore item you already have.

not for lore equipped, you can just click the yes button and it i will make it. I just need a continue button on the thing so it will start going again after i click yes.

No, not without making another one. What happens is the thing puts the shit in the tradeskill container, hits combine, a yes/no pop-up says "THIS ITEM IS LORE-EQUPPED blah blah blah". The program stalls out. even if you click yes, it wont do anything anymore. I cant reload my recipe list or anything. i have to unload the Lua and reload it and add the shit not made to my batch again and restart.
