Hi all,

For those who were not in Discord when I mentioned this, I thought it might help you as well.

Doing Griklor, I hated chasing him around the hut. So ... being lazy, and automating what I can, I figured out his pathing and made my life easy.

Here's a picture of positioning, and then under it, I will explain more:

1583338709720.png

The green X to the right of the big red = my group. I'm up top with the quest mob (shown by green arrow). Griklor ... is that yellow dot in the SE corner.
What I do when I zone in, is move toons to that position, I add Grik to my xtarget window, and then wait for him to path to that big red dot at the North side. When he's JUST about there..... like pixels from ... I tell the question mob "fight". He then paths around the hut and his aura paths to my group every single time and just in time. If you have >= 800k DPS, you should kill him on the first drop.

Now if you don't ... You might ... MIGHT have to move your group closer to his pathing... be ready for it. This is not a complete strategy that work 100% if you don't kill him in the first drop.

Anyhow. I hope that you also find this useful.

Here's me doing Grik 2.0 --- I actually still run around just because it makes me feel like i'm doing something lol

man I just cant seem to get this. I get him to 55% first drop and after that I cant get him to drop a second time
im on my 15 attempt and same thing every time. im clearly missing something. sk, cleric, mage, chanter, shammy, war I only have to tank as im working on building the warrior up to replace sk. any help or advise would be
appreciated. TIA
Guess I should also add that I'm just sitting near the entrance to the area and it works fine for first drop. I have even tried to follow him for second attempt to drop him.

your not burning any dps discs on the warrior fellstrike + Wars Sheol's Heroic Blade + rampage would provably drop a few seconds alone

I've tried the "just sit and wait" approach. But I've found the chase his ass around works better for me. After doing this a few times, you're going to get a better sense of where the rings are going to show and you're essentially chasing the red ring looking for the smaller white one. If you do this, he'll drop. I use MQ2War on Sic Mode and if I lose Griklor, I'll target Grik (I put him in my x-target window for quick and easy targeting) and hit the 1 key. Then my warrior will start chasing him in a circle (just a quick way of finding Grik) and I hit escape and go back to manually running around looking for those rings.

When he drops, I burn him down. On a good run, he drops first time, on a bad run I have to pull him down twice. From first kill to last kill the mission takes me about five minutes on a bad run. My suggestion is start chasing Grik looking for those rings. Once you get good at spotting them and running your toons into them, he'll start dropping.

Anytime I get adds, I stop and kill them unless Grik has dropped. I focus on Grik until he's dead or flying. Like you, I've got an enchanter so I can mez the adds and I've got decent DPS (just under 2 million dps burning, around 825 to 950 sustained). I put lev on my group as I hate falling into that stupid hole. I pretty much do Grik whenever I don't have a timer unless I'm raiding or doing something else.

Good luck.

I’m running a combination of mq2war, mq2berserker and kissassist on my toons. Is there any easy way to get toons using kiss to follow the mq2war? I know you can use the follow me button but that interferes with the Zerker that’s on chase mode?

on your kiss toons just do /chase on this will have them chase the MA. also i use the come to me button when the kiss toons hit a buff routine.

I was finally able to beat this, first attempt took me 4 rounds as I couldn't seem to keep all my group together but I beat it.
second attempt I beat it in 2 drops and would have been one but didn't mark main toon as assist so no one got in on the fight. Thanks for the advice Sic.

If you use mq2zerker then the zerk will follow whatever he has targetted until you manually stop him. then the war will chase grik in the air if you arent using him as main which i dont. this is extremely hard to do

as i show in my Griklor 1.0 video here - all you need to do is turn on /zerk switchwithma on , and then have your MA clear their target. when you don't want to chase grik any longer.

I have made an observation that may or not be replicated
You get your mission and use the sit and ambush strategy (no chasing)
here is the part that im not 100% sure on
Option 1) Determine where he will land by moving to the spot he emotes the 1st time, and then just ambush there as often as needed
Option 2) Determine where he is on his path BEFORE you start the event, anticipating where he is going to Land b4 he even emotes, sit ambush burn, done (deal w adds)

My favorite spot to wait for his landing is right in front of area that the chest spawns, the learning curb is to see where he is when u trigger the event and timing it correctly so that he lands right there.

at this time I think he is between 10 oClock and 1 oClock to trigger the best drop spot.
I am pretty sure he wont drop where chest spawns if u trigger it when hes flying at that spot

lastly im not sure if he can have 2 drop spots and if those locations can be anticipated by triggering event when he is at a certain spot on the map

That's how I do it. I start the event when he is at 1 o'clock position and the first drop will be at about 11 o'clock. Sit the whole group just in front of where the chest spawns and tank picks up grik as soon as he drops.

I also hail to start at 1 o'clock.. then fight at the door 1st round , if u have to go to round two, you just go counterclockwise to about 10:30 and wait for him to drop again.

So I have found if u start where sic shows on his map first drop will be just past the door.. after that he will do his emoute right side of the door about right across from his first drop

What you do, is park everyone just to the left and in front of the gate where the chest spawns, put a mark on grik (/marknpc 1), and tell the npc "fight, right when the marker is on top of the tree limb laying on the ground to the left of the gate. He'll emote and drop on the spot your toons are sitting every, single time. You can even watch the marker and position your toons on the path in the exact right spot before hand if you are paranoid.

I need some help with this. I don't quite have enough DPS yet, to burn him down on that first drop. I can get him to like 30%. I finally killed him last night on his second drop, but it was really sheer luck. How do I get my crew to stop chasing him, when he flies back up on his mount? I have SK tank using MQ2Eskay. Zerker using MQ2Berzerker and Shaman/Bard both using KA. I'm playing the Monk manually. What's a hotkey that I can make to make them stop attacking and return to camp/stay at camp, so we can deal with the adds?

turn on “switchwithma” on all toons, then when grik takes off target yourself and hit your hotkey for your toons to move to you (its a hotkey you 100% needfor like 344654333 things).

Thanks! "switchwithma" was definitely what I was missing here. I see that option in the plugins, but not in KissAssist. Is it TargetSwitchingOn for KA?

Yup, that's the one.

Is it TargetSwitchingOn for KA?
No. That is only used when in the tank role and it allows the player to change targets, mid fight, and not have the macro fight you. Normally the macro will stay with its original target. You want to use the /backoff command in kissassist. It accepts on/off arguments as well.

earlier in this thread i posted a video of me doing griklor 1.0 (this was when he would fly into the air multiple times and you couldn't 1 drop him

as i show in my Griklor 1.0 video here - all you need to do is turn on /zerk switchwithma on , and then have your MA clear their target. when you don't want to chase grik any longer.

So how do I get this sucker to drop down more often? Was there forever killing his adds after getting him to 40% until the you begin to freeze or whatever message and finally wiped.

felt like being at a chinese buffet for too long ... you go home!

I have been trying the Griklor fight, and I can not seem to get him to come down reliably.
I have both tried the spot in this video and Sic's spot, and I have followed him around the circle.
He sometimes drops, but usually he just keeps flying.

I believe I am in the targeting circle.
I feel like there is something dumb that I am missing.

Target Grik with your group leader and do a "/marknpc 1" ... you now can see exactly where he is at any given time. That and dropping lev (although I've never had an issue with lev) should help.

@freeferli im reposting this from another spot..

think of the circular fort as a clock. I would position my group under his path at about 1145, then wait until grik is between the 1 and 2 hour and say the start words. Have him path over you once, then the second time around he should drop right on you.

As others have mentioned, the easiest way to get the first drop is as follows:
1) Target Bethun.
2) Wait for Griklor to reach the second gate pillar (basically 12:15 on the 'clock').
3) Say 'fight'.
4) Position group near the end of the log (maybe a bit toward the outer wall) at around 11:30.

With that setup, Grik will pass over you once, and you will get the ice shards when he passes the first time. You should get the second emote when Grik is around 7:30 on the next pass. He will then drop in range of your group once he gets there (make sure your group is positioned so the yellow ring hits you).

If you don't get him in one drop, you may need to move your toons counter-clockwise. I have found that if everything went as described above then the second drop point will be around 9:45. So just position your group there and wait.

If you get out of sync, I have found that your group needs to be around 4 hours clockwise of the point where Grik emotes. So just watch where he is when the emote happens and move to the appropriate location.

P.S. I always have lev on, and have not had a problem getting him to drop.

I see thanks guys.
I think I did not pick up on that by saying "fight" you can make him give the emote at a specific location.
I thought it was random.

I will try that.

Just run to the boss with the character that gets emoted and then pull him back to the group. It's not hard.

yeah agree - overthinking it a bit imo

I tried just running to him, and he does not drop down, I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
Just to be clear, when I target him, I see the yellow targeting circle on the ground, I am supposed to run to that?
Am I supposed to follow him around? or just get in it once?
Maybe I am not doing it fast enough? I assume I have from the time of the emote, to the time of the next emote.

No. It's the giant red circle. you must be inside that circle, it's very big and impossible to miss, when the meteor triggers. Do that 2 times and he drops on the second time.
Am I supposed to follow him around? or just get in it once?
No, it takes 2 successes to drop him. But you must stay inside the giant red circle until it completes. If you run in and out too quickly it will fail.
Maybe I am not doing it fast enough?
This is very likely. You must start moving your character as soon as the emote shows in Event Filters. It also shows in the middle of your screen.
I assume I have from the time of the emote, to the time of the next emote.
Not even close. You have about 10 to 12 seconds to get under him.

Thanks, I think this will help me a lot.
Just to confirm on the red circle, I have seen that, but I thought it was the smaller targeting circle.

Am I supposed to let it pass me, and then enter the red circle?
And for 2 successes, does that mean I go into the circle, and then leave and go back?
Or does that mean that I need to be successful on 2 different characters?

I guess I need to setup MQ2Events :), because I am definitely too slow for this.

You need to be inside the red circle when Griclor launches the ae. If it hits the right char, he get's a "feedback" qhich will breing him down, any second hit.

When I do griklor, I dont run at all.
Target him b4 triggering the event.
Wait to trigger the event until griklor is as close as possible at Beethun. If you do so, the first ae will occur, just at this passway, so you only need to step inside.
After you are hit the first time, just walk a view steps counterclockwhise (if you think you where watching a clock from far above you, like 5 Minutes) and keep griklor in your target.
You will see Griklor at the opposit on his journey ... he will wander about 25 Minutes (having still the clock in mind) after his emote and launch the ae, so once you figured it out, its easy to predict.

Most of the time, but not always its just like 5 minutes counterclockwhise from one AE to the next. No need to attempt to follow him doing his path.

i have 2 griklor videos in my signature, pre-change and post-change. you can see the red circle that i stand in when the emote goes off - you need to stay in that red circle until the emote resolves. out of habit i always just chase him

Sic, what is your group makeup in that video? Nice timing, ha.
