[shadow=#AAAAAA]The Cute Newbie Handbook to Macroquest, Offsets, Plugins, and Other Scary Sounding Things[/shadow]

Let me make one thing clear: you do not need expensive programs or computer skills to use anything found on Redguides.com - All you will need is:

1. The ability to navigate your computer's hard drive by clicking on folders.
2. The ability to cut and paste text.

That's it. You don't need to compile, hack, code, or anything of the sort. If you don't know how to switch folders or cut and paste text, post a message on the forums or come into the chatroom and we'll give you a quick lesson.

This is an addendum to the actual Newbie Handbook, which is located in the last section of EQ Underground. Please use this along with the actual Handbook in order to get the most out of this forum.

Macroquest
The following are a list of threads where a user will compile Macroquest2 for you. Note that you must post your auth code (see below for info on auth codes) in the thread for macroquest to work:

MacroQuest Complied/UI (Codecompile) - Codecaster's compiling thread. Does not require an auth code, just download, extract, and run.
Another MQ2 Compile This one is Ndawg's version.

Remember that you will need a new compile after Sony patches Everquest, but you only need to send an auth file once.

Compiling Macroquest for free guide - Darkeros shows you how to compile macroquest yourself without expensive software. This is good if you'd like to be more independent, but keep in mind it is more difficult.

How do I find my auth code?
Download MQ2 from macroquest2.com

Extract it to a folder.

Go to "My Computer"

Find the folder where you extracted macroquest2. Open it.

Double-click on the file called mq2auth.exe

Find the folder called MQ2Main. Open it.

Find the file called "mq2auth0.h". Open it with notepad.

That is your auth code.

Please note that Macroquest2 is totally free and open source (available here) and you do not need a subscription to Redguides to use it. We're just here to help.

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

using the eq underground manual i have started to get macroquest working, but i am stuck on step five. i do not have visualvideo.net installed. i run windows xp. is there a free download somewhere? should i install someting else?

another question completely off topic. i intend on using the warp thing in mpg. is this a good idead? i would like to go sit there while doing homework and when i see an ooc for certain items rotting i would like to start running the macroquest then. check for gm's then invis and warp to whoever ooc'd it and play it off as i just am really good at walking around invis. good idea bad idea? really wondering is there a way to start macroquest runing for just a few minutes to check stuff out and maybe warp then turn it off so i don't need to worry about some gm or some other person able to see me running the program coming into the zone and seeing it running even though i am not using it anymore.

You were reading the wrong section - the Macroquest for Advanced users. Skip down to the newbie section and start over.

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

I have a question if you don't mind answering. My question is on coding and the ini files, which form of document do you use when starting a new file in your ini folder? Wordpad, text, or rich text are my only options when making a new document.

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

text, and ms-dos format if you can choose formats

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

Fixed my problem, thanks..

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

is the compiled code different for each computer? and after i have submitted it to be compiled, what do i do next? i'm still a little vague about that. :(

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

Ok i am having problems with the MQ2 folder...i downloaded the latest zip from the site and extracted it to a folder....But once i try to run the files in it they do not load...I mean the blink up on the screen for a second then they are gone...I do not understand this..And as you can tell i am a big dummy when it comes to computers..Could you possibly tell me the reason that i cannot get these files working?

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

Thats what they are supposed to do as all it does is generates a code and puts it into MQ2Auth0.h in your mq2main folder

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

ok well what i mean actually is that the [email protected] and the release .zipfiles are missing matter of fact all the dll files are not there im such a noob when it comes to this stuff and more helpw ould be much appreciated

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

we compile it for you if you can't we just need the auth codes from the mq2auth0.h file in your mq2main directory

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

Well l have submitted my Auth. Code for compling, and starting to feel somewhat cheated, paid for this site, just for the MQ2 ... and can't use it, cause as an eariler post states that the " [email protected] and the release .zipfiles are missing matter of fact all the dll files are not there " I have had friends walk me through this, in real life .. and well the files just aren't being generated and yes I posted my Auth files to be fixed for me, yet they haven't been... and I have tried to complie myself, l want a refund lolz... or someone to plzzz help me would be much appreaciated. and I am not whinning here, just tired of trying to get this stupid thing to work, when it says files are missing etc, and I have downloaded it many times etc.
Thank You...

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

Perhaps someone that can actually type out instructions step by step, complete instructions of what is to be expected, perhaps with even screen shots ? I dunno, just something needs to give here people !, Please help !! thank You..

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

If you joined for the MQ2 software only, you should have gone to http://www.macroquest2.com/main.php

Information is there unless you hate reading :)

Just make sure you have the right stuff in the right folders. I deleted MQ2 completely, Downloaded Siddin's update, and extracted to my MQ2 folder. Also you can find the new /docrack update and DL that. I put all plugins in the MQ2 folder including /docrack on Siddin's but it works very well.

Compiled by Siddin http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dbl00/MacroQuest2.zip

Release zip by Zedmix http://www.redguides.com/community/showthread.php?t=29&highlight=release
Found it by going search > Release

Docrack by Thirdphase/Siddin http://www.redguides.com/community/showthread.php?p=7336#post7336
Found by search > Compile offset

Hope that helps.

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

Red I have a question about on-screen features. I have seen friends' account and they have specialized toolbars on EQ that I am wondering how I am supposed to aquire. Such as an experience bar under the health bar and things like that. If you could post up a link to player made stuff or whatever, I would be forever in your debt...Well I'd owe you a favour. Nothing kinky 8)

I'm having some trouble Sid. I downloaded MQ from http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dbl00/MacroQuest2.zip but can't find my auth code from there. Can you point me in the right direction? thx

That is a already compiled version of MQ2.

You can download just the MQ2Auth.exe from here: http://69.10.135.232/~everstor/mq2auth/mq2auth.exe

When you select the "install" button it will extract to C:\MQ2 and run the MQ2Auth.exe scritpt for you. Just go to C:\MQ2 and open the MQ2Auth.h file and post your auth codes to one of the compiling help boards, and they will add your codes to their compile list and then once updated you'll be able to use the compiled version.

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

are the free compiles still going or do i need to buy vs? dont seem to have been updated in a while.any suggestions appriciate.

Hellbent, I think what you are looking for can be found on www.eqinterface.com be sure if you download something it's compatible with the latest expansion ~ a good example would be most (if not all) the merchant windows available for download will not work because SOE released a new merchant window that displays stuff differently than it has in the past~

There is usually a link to view what the various UI piece looks like before you download it too. There are also very good instructions as to how to use these files on the site.

Hope this is what you were looking for. If not, someone can delete this post ;)

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

SAWEET got that shizzle working, this roxors u guys are the shiznit.

Ok sebastienjuly

1) Do you have a working macroquest? If not download it here and extract it anywhere you like.

2) To have your bard chant kite while afk:
2a) Go to your macroquest folder and open your "Macros" folder. Make a notepad file
2b) To to the thread The AFK Bard Macro and copy and paste everything in the code box in the notepad file you created.
2c) In the notepad file go to File -> Save as and change "Save as file type" to All Files. In the name box name it Target.mac
2d) Run MacroQuest2.exe and start up everquest, go all the way to your character
2e) In the macroquest window type
Rich (BB code):
/plugin mq2twist
and
Rich (BB code):
/plugin mq2moveutils
2f) Then go to a nice unpopulated and clear area and type
Rich (BB code):
/twist <gem # of songs you want to twist>
An example:
Rich (BB code):
/twist 1 2 3 4
That will twist whatever songs you have in gems 1 2 3 and 4.
2g) Set your circle radius by typing
Rich (BB code):
/circle on <radius>
Example:
Rich (BB code):
/circle on 75
2h) Type in your macroquest window
Rich (BB code):
/mac target.mac
And that should be all, to end the macro, stop running in circles, and stop twisting type
Rich (BB code):
/endmac
Rich (BB code):
/twist off
Rich (BB code):
/circle off

PS [size=+2]Post your questions in the Questions and Requests forum please, that's why it's there.[/size]

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)

Ok I am new to all this. I am completely computer stupid. I was trying to follow the directions, and got stuck on the first one. "1) Do you have a working macroquest? If not download it here and extract it anywhere you like." I clicked on the link and the site can not be found.... Can anyone please help me with this? Also I was looking thru the message boards, and did not see anything for druids. Did I just not look far enough, or are there just nothing for them? Thanks!

The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addenddum)

Download macroquest here, or here.

There's plenty for a druid, look around a bit more. However I would suggest creating a bard.

Re: The Newbie Handbook to Offsets, Plugins, and other scary sounding things. (addendum)
