Question - The fall of Lord Bayle - Strat / suggestions

To me this mission was a bitch!

I've won it but really would like to get it done on a few more characters but I'm dreading it lol so I'm looking to hear how others won it and suggestions to my strat.

My group is sk,clr,healer merc,bst,wiz,ber....normally I run an ench in place of the healer merc but I needed the extra healer ( or not ). I plan to swap the wiz for the ench to get her the achievement.

To win my strat was this:
Bst set as group MT with pet tanking minis in one corner focusing on healing pet and light nuking, everyone else at the other end of the room and spread out ( casters leashed to a camp spot ), everyone is setup running kiss with any burn abilities/holies turned off except when called for and the clr who's running autocleric with cures off and the sk which is manually controlled. DPS the boss SLOWLY and have the SK pickup and kill each add as it spawns then back to the boss, rise repeat and like 30 minutes later win! Sound about right?

The problems though...holy jesus
So it started out with constant dying on the first mini cause my group would blow it up and have like 3 or 4 of the beguilers up tank gets mezz'd, clr cures and gets silenced next beguiler mezzes tank adds run around and wipe everyone while I stand there and watch...ok next time I'll dps it slower and only burn when the beguilers start popping, everything goes as planned, beguiler pops I hit burn and its gone in a second and back my crew jumps on the mini and BOOM its at %1 and locks till like 4 or 5 mobs pop with 2-3 being beguilers and the same wipeout happens. Lesson learned, no more burning on the first mini...later on I learned no burning on any of this fight because as soon as I hit burn and killed an add my bots were back on the mini and would smoke it down to 1% were it would lock while it spawned health based adds + any time based adds.

During the winning fight issues:
After about the 2nd mini the bst pet bit the dust...I didnt have one suspended so the Sk tanked everything, next time I will have one suspended, I'm pretty sure this helped really drag the fight out cause while killing adds theres was 0 dps on the mini.
After the 2nd mini the merc was oom, my autocler bot was damn near full...this was about 10 minutes in so autocleric basically solo healed the next 20minutes with the merc probably only throwing the occasional heal....did I really need the merc? maybe it cured me of a mez on the beguilers and ate the silence?
Again after the 2nd mini my wiz and bst were oom basically the whole fight, exception being paragon, harvest moments then they were oom again quickly and being that they were being run by a macro...as soon as they had enough to cast any spell on their list they would and be oom again!
My last oops I can think of is I didnt turn on my bst melee...after the pet died he stood in the cornor and nuked when he had mana....next time he'll be getting told /meleeon
Burn was called after the last add on bale and boy was it pathetic lol!
In the end everyone was oom and I had used every disc / ability I had (some twice or more) and I had basically just ground the event into dust by autoattacking for long enough.

So how did you win?
What could I do better?
Is this just how this mission is? not a whole lot of info I could find on this event.
Is there was way to throttle dps up and down to burn only the adds and not the mini? or how can I keep the bots from jumping back on the mini?

Any input is appreciated and while I won I wiped a lot and still almost feel like I got lucky.
 
Yeah I got the burn issues under control....it wasnt that it was firing when I didnt want, its that I triggered it for trash and the disc's / aa's last longer than 1 single trash mob so they would still be running when I jumped back on the named and dps was too fast causing too many adds with nasty abilities at one time. Tried telling the dps to /backoff then have them assist me on a trash mob and /backoff again to unpause it hoping it would clear their want to jump back on the named after a health based add dies but they are back on the named like white on rice....same thing with /switch, they will switch but again as soon as the trash is dead its back on the mini and this is no beuno if I trigger any type of burns.
I was more looking to use big nukes / fast dps on trash only then scale back on the mini's and I think after looking around I'm gonna try the modded kiss to only cast certain nukes if !{Target.Named}
Trying to cut down the time on the event so I have a little more breathing room as far as mana goes....trash needs to die faster, not the boss/mini's!

Don't bother with moding kiss. It will be a waist of time at this moment. the Next version of kiss will have conditionals and will allow you to do a lot of what you are trying to do with out any mods... If you want I can send you the current Beta and let you see what I am referring to.

This challenge = arguably the hardest/most complex of that xpac?

It is definitely boxable, just don't burn at all. Your SK should be able to tank everything that's thrown at him if you keep dps slow and steady and manage adds. Getting the axe /ach and such makes it pretty hard to do alone. But yeah basically as you've seen, the adds will mess you up, so just slow reg dps will get you home.
 
exactly like rhb said... slow it all down, just take your time.. you cant power through it.. better to just single kill the trash and adds, and work your way through it..

I've heard zerkers are the key, but i did it first time around with my caster grp, only melee toons were my sk and my bard (lol melee!) .. everyone else basically sat there n watched...
 
Ok so I made some adjustments and used the kissassist with conditionals ( the one from eqmule ) and set it up to only use certain abilities on non named, no nuking on the BL just straight pet healer, dropped the merc and put my ench in...
BOOM 15min done! bst 75% mana clr 50%mana ench and wiz oom ber still had about 30% end.
Now to try and get swing and a miss and royal rumble out of it....this might suck lol

i nearly quit eq because i couldn't box this. that was 4 expansions ago, but still. the key for me was tanking it all with one guy and manually activating burns as required. i made sure i could quickly tab to my cle for group purify or single purify to handle mez on my tank if that happened. swing and a miss was hard, but i just turned off my macros on melee characters and would manually back them out and in and just use melee to activate their normal abilities. it took me a couple of runs to get all the melee guys i have to get the achievement because i'd only do this 1 at a time.

i know i didn't really add anything to help you farm this more, but i feel your pain about it and just wanted to give you a /highfive. let the aug farming commence! to this day, i can still sell taskadds to this for absurd (to me at least) prices. lots of people seem to still want the aug. food for thought!
 
Good work ihc, it was definitely one of the more challenging things to box/mq2... now, royal rumble.. good luck! But now that you know what needs to be done, its just a matter of refining it.

I personally found this harder than anything in TDS, and..well TBM stupid jump thru hoops anashti sul BS lol... those sucked.. but in a different way ...

Thanks man, and I got what I think might be a good idea out of this....think I'm gonna try and shut my macro off completely on my berserker, stick him to my sk and just throw him /assist me /killthis commands.
Only thing I wonder about this ach is if the pet getting hit will count against me or not, guess I'll find out.

Thats a relief to hear, TDS is up next for me and I was wondering how much time I was gonna spend adjusting ini's instead of playing lol. I dont mind a good challenge now and then but I like to just relax, blow stuff up and see achievements turn blue!


Anyone have any idea's for CC'ing the royal mobs till 8 are up?
