Discussion - TBL Evolving: Still Kinda Strong For Me (1 Viewer)

Age-old discussion. But one that comes up each of the past several expansions: The Four TBL Evolving Gear Are Dead!
Except I'm an old fuddy-duddy who hates change and knows the comparisons are more complex than this.

Extremely brief and possibly flawed analysis. But tldr for me is that if you have enough Type 18/19's, the items are still better than modern gear *except for a few of the focii*. And I only have the Group version, not Raid - so things would be even better there.

The Focus thing can be huge, so I'm not discounting. But still intrigued the difference achievable.

The following is for an SK, score using my weightings that factor ac, hp, hStr, hAgi, hDex, hSta, SD and HA.
They use the (approx) 7th-9th best Type 18/19's I have, assuming the previous 6 would be on evolving Ear and NoS Cloak.
So this is just per-item. To have all 4, you'd use the 7th-18th best Type 18/19's

Yeah, I stick strictly by gearscore. NOS/TOL raid > TBL evolving gear.

I still use the Ring and Boots over NoS raid gear on my main. That extra accuracy and procs > HME

Definitely get that. Though gearscore won't factor in the 3 extra aug slots which can be non-trivial #'s

e.g. my 7th-9th best are 230ac 2402hp 37hDex and 186 SD/HA. That's kinda solid.

Am I the only person that finds the fact that TBL chase loots are still somewhat viable years later stupid?

Like they keep making these type 18/19 augs that are retroactively usable, and it still manages to keep the TBL stuff relevant.

I understand people worked hard to max out these items etc. and having them last for 2-3 xpacs is fine...but 5 xpacs is just bad design.

Well, guess I'm off to complete RoS/EoK quests for my alts now....

I definitely agree. But not just that. We now have 7 items in that category, though honestly most have ditched TBL.
TBL Hands, Feet, Shoulder, Ring
ToV Earring
NoS Cloak
LS Neck

The boots and hands are still viable. You can add attacker and proc augs and not lose any luck.

I personally still use the boots. Still works well for me for now.
