Progression Server Strategy for Rizlona?

Normally I bring up a fresh toon like this. Give them a couple hundred thousand plat, some 100ac stat food, cloak of flames, druid buffs and 25 point DS. Set the journey 1 merc to burn. They can plow through mobs and level up quickly.

On Rizlona we'll be starting with no armor, no plat, no spells. The newbie area will be flooded and mobs will be rare.

What is your plan?

I'm thinking move to higher level area quickly, gear up tank first then cleric (the term gear takes on a whole new meaning.. ie anything that can fill the slot and has a little AC)
I would imagine that even higher level ( Blackburrow, Befallen, Unrest ) would fill up pretty quickly and camps may be hard to come by.
 
It’s always busy at first. Hordes of people everywhere. I foresee more camps being taken over for longer periods of time since a lot of people will box their own toons and groups won’t break up as quickly etc. As far as gear goes, you can basically level to 50 naked, especially casters. Gearing the tank is always a plus. I’m going to try to hit some unconventional spots this time around.
 
Just remember, /pick is your friend. So many times you will see 100's of people in the base newbie zone, and then the pick zones are almost empty.
 
I want to take my team straight into leveling. As @Jarsath12 mentioned, you can be pretty much naked all the way to 50. The real struggle you'll end up having is money for spells depending on your team comp. I have always just bought the essentials for my team as I level and done without the rest until I had the money to go back and buy everything (I like to have a complete spell book). I saw this video in my YouTube feed though, and may give it a shot when I am not really feeling productive. I may even manage to set up a macro to run it while I watch and talk to my friends. Get some early spell and armor money.



Additionally, getting a craft can help. Particularly Blacksmithing. Banded armor for tanks and other chain classes really make you until 50. Crafted weapons or [Magic] dropped weapons will help too. I would say Blacksmithing is really easy to get up high enough to be useful, and pretty cheap. Jewelcrafting or Tailoring or Leatherworking require a lot more mob drops to get high enough to be useful.
 
Did that same quest Felwith to Kelethin on Corinav. Gets pretty boring after a bit but it did get me enough money to buy spells and some cloth.
Will alchemy be in the game?
I'm planning on a Monk / Shammy combo.

I saw it printed where each server will have a dedicated GM.
are they going to be patrolling, looking for bots? I mean if one person is driving a toon and 5 others on auto?
 
My strategy is to probably wait until mid June (when my current Krono run out) and hope there's more spots to level early on.

As long as you're behind the keyboard to answer tells or questions, you will be fine. It's unattended or AFK farming that the GMs will be on the lookout for.
I've kinda followed the "If you're worried about getting in trouble for doing X, you probably shouldn't be doing it" motto.
 
The biggest advantage you have on a brand new TLP is to be the first ones rolling. It allows you to get out ahead of the masses. Then you aren't at the mercy of pickzone.

If you want to do tradeskills to make plat/krono, then you have to be one of the first ones to market. Every single TLP, you start to see people without any concept of value with regard to tradeskills. They end up selling items as cheap as possible without factoring in the time spent farming. Once tradeskill items reach that point, you want to get out of the market.
 
It wouldn't be a bad idea to start with tank, clr, enc, mag, mag, mag. From there, power level your holy trinity combo with the OP mages and acquire better gear on them. Then power level whatever 3 classes you actually wanted after your holy trinity is in the 30s / 40s / or 50 with decent gear.
 
I've heard conflicting information about Magicians. People have said they are a weak class, people have said they are OP. I don't understand why anyone would say they are weak honestly. Their pet is a constant source of DPS, even if they run Out of Mana. Are other classes "better" than them for some reason other than consistent DPS? Besides the usual ports, buffs, etc Mages can't offer that is.
I've heard Monks are pretty strong, especially in Classic. Are they better than Mages?
 
On Lockjaw I played with friends and I believe our group was SK, Clr, Dru, Mag, Nec, Enc. We crushed everything just fine, but would having the Dru/Nec also be Mages made much of a difference?

Thanks for watching my video! A Macro to run that quest would be nice. I had guildmates run it manually in about 3.5 mins I think, but a macro would allow you to run a lot more toons at once. I'd love to learn how to make a macro for it. Any tips for starters?
 
Maybe take a look at newtoon.mac for some code tips. That one runs you across zones, doing simple quests and turn-ins to various NPCs.

I'd use mq2nav "/nav" commands to auto run to the guys via zone meshes (all available in Vanilla and the launcher's mesh downloader), plus mq2easyfind /easyfind "Misty Thicket" to run to zonelines as needed.

One of the most heavily scripted quests (along with the one involving Kelethin).
And I can tell you that this one is heavily watched, too. So expect having to respond to requests often or have your ass handed to you. If one ever wanted to get a bunch of afk folks caught (for suspensions or worse) - this is one of the quests to look for :)

After initial setup-phase, which is a one-time deal per character, I could run the Erudin->Qeynos route in about 2:15 (using the mac i published earlier) ... this would net about 14 plat per hour which is quite much for the early game!

Have fun with the mac - but please by all it is worth: be careful! This WILL be drawing attention and I would expect quite some tells, says, ... from GMs, guides, ... whatever they can muster.

Don't worry about being careful, there are plenty of people running this. I took this screenshot close to midnight PST when the server just came up.
 
Wow, I'd almost consider the postal NPCs to be radioactive to be around right now considering the server has dedicated GMs that will eventually notice that, and then just stand there trying to talk to each person.

yeah - that was the idea. Help with getting some moooonieees and then move on.
But apparently greed does rule norrath, too.

And it isn't that I didn't have a big red warning in the mac and on the documentation that this can be dangerous.
But yeah - people simply cannot be counted upon for being reasonable :-(
 
@NobodyKnows it's a shame things turned out this way for the postal quest, however it's a testament to how good your macro was. So good in fact it had to be removed because of how heavily it was abused.
A gold generating machine. You did great, but some people had to go to the extreme. You and @cm99games were just trying to help the EQ community by making cool videos and macros.

Well - not all is lost :)
I am doing to have a mac ready to get you your adventurer's stone "soon". So quite a bit of the work done I can reuse. (Although I am not sure I will make it public for everybody because of the work involved :-( Learnt my lesson.)

At least such cannot be abused that much because it is a one-time-deal per character :)

Our guild was using it, but we have a strict no afk policy, so we do our best not to be the bad apple's. We appreciate your hard work. I was also working on one, I had it finished the same day you released yours.

Is it weird that I don't have any plans of going over to Rizlona, and therefore could have, but didn't download the macro when it was available - but now that it's unavailable I suddenly want it. :)

I can understand wanting to give something back, but history has time and time again shown that anything that can be exploited heavily and is released publicly will be. :)
