Crazy ending in the Metropolitan division, that left me disappointed when the Caps had to win. With the Penguins eliminated for the second straight year.

So with that out if the way. I turned my head to the teams in the playoffs. ( Which starts tomorrow) Im rooting for the Panthers in the Eastern Conference and the Avalanche in the Western Conference.

Do your team make it? Which team you think jas the best chance at going all the way?

And hot take but Hockey is the best sport!

I grew up in Alaska and spent my entire youth going to semi-pro hockey games, but for some reason never developed taste for the NHL.

I live in Seattle now and the Kraken are, well, a typical Seattle team. So now I'm just rooting for the Canucks to lose.

As a lifelong Bruins fan, I thought this was a garbage throwaway season going in, with Bergeron and Krejci both retiring at the end of last year, so if they don't make it past the first round it's still a success.

I will say I prefer to face Toronto in the first round instead of Tampa, Vasilevskiy can get hot and steal a series from anyone, while Toronto defense and goaltending is suspect.

Been an Av's fan myself since they moved to CO. First game I got to go to was the division final against the Red wings in '96 and I have been hooked ever since. Excited about the playoffs but to be honest I am a bit nervous after Winnipeg shut us out 7-0 in the last game we played against them.

I'm a partial Kraken fan, I live in KCMO and our minor league team the KC Mavericks is a feeder to the Kraken so by proxy I gotta like 'em.

Also since I became a hockey fan in recent years I've been a Golden Knights and Coyotes fan, since the 'Yotes are gone I guess the Kraken will fill their spot in my fandom.

Pretty much everything I was worried about with the Av's has dissipated. Tending seems to have been shored up and the stingiest team in the NHL gave up more 5+ goal games in a row than anyone in history to them. Hope they can keep it up.

Welp! Here we are: Rangers v Panthers and Oilers v Stars.

I think NY v FLA is going to be some heavy hockey, there's some nasty guys on both sides of that equation, and some seriously outstanding players, I think it will be close, and I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple OT games in that series.

I'm not sure about the other series, being on the East Coast the games are on way too late for me so I've only seen each team a handful of times.

Anybody out West got any input on that series?

I agree on the Rangers and Panthers series. Its either gonna a series sweep for either or a grueling 6-7 game series.

Stars vs Oilers. I've haven't been able to watch at all either. Im already staying up late being over in the UK. For the East coast games 🤣. I cant help myself though.

who am i rootin for and why?

Go Oilers! Although, tbh Dallas is probably going to kick their arses. Dallas looks very strong. And I want to fire the entire Panthers team into the sun, so Go Rangers!
Dallas does seem to have more depth.

The rangers are gonna need to show up more then a few mins a game to even have a chance!

Been a hell of a series so far between the Rangers and Panthers. Fans on both sides have to be having anxiety and panic attacks. I know I am lol

We have our Stanley Cup Finals! Edmonton vs Florida.

I have a theory, therefore I will be cheering for the Panthers!

If the Panthers lose in the finals, it's more likely their players take reduced salaries to keep the team together for another run at the Cup, which means my Bruins will have to face this team again next season.
If they win the Cup, they all demand huge salaries and the team is then broken up, and the Bruins don't have to face this team ever again!

Go Panthers!

Forgot the third option.

They win and still take reduced salaries to stay together for a repeat.

I was pulling for the Knights but that feels like ancient history now. I've got a buddy who is a big Oilers fan and the ECHL team from my hometown is also the Oilers so I guess that's who I'm pulling for now!

Most of Canada will be at least watching the Finals Im guessing. Been 30 years since it was last won by a Canadian team!

And it might be 30 more. LoL

At this point the chances of the Oilers winning are pretty slim, so it might be 30 more. Credit to the Panthers though, they play a gritty hateful style under Paul Maurice and it seems to be working. Bobrovsky has been the difference maker though. Oilers would have won game 1 without him.

Paul Maurice is a fucking comedian I swear. There is always one or two lines he says that I either make my smile from ear to ear or bust out laughing.

Sorry about your oilers. Although not over yet! As History has one team that has came back to do it in the Finals. The 1942 Maple Leafs. And in all the playoff series its only been done 4 times (iirc). I think Oilers win game 4. Since they will be more desperate then ever. But I just dont see the Panthers losing 4 straight. Especially after what they went through last year!

Game 5 in Florida is now key. If Florida somehow loses at home, it's probably going to game 7.

I wouldn't bet against Florida in game 5 if I was putting money on it. I'll still be cheering for my Oilers though!

I figured this was gonna happen! I mean same thing happened in the first round against Tampa when the Panthers were up 3 games to 0 in that series. 6-3 was the final forcing a game 5. I think they got wrapped up in the moment. I think the Panthers put their heads down and go back to the Panthers game in 5. And four of the 5 goals Bob let in were on the rush with numbers for the Oilers. Only so much a goaltender can fend off before those start to go in!
