Maybe more of a question, how do you do your tradeskills?
Sharing a little of my thoughts and questions on how I do and set it all up when trying to get to 350 in tradeskills.
It all started when my main got Max AA the box crew also was almost there. I thought I would continue with some tradeskills I started with 100 (or so) years ago. I had a few around 200 - 250 so I thought I just do them all (haha) to 350 guickly(!) and go back to maxing AA on the 6-box crew. Hehe
First thing first!
Trophys!
Noticed the TS God macro from @jb321 which would get all that I hadnt started to 54. And the rest would get those free reciepes. Also all trophie quests was gotten (almost) and completed around this time. Had a few higher so had to do some farming/collecting but this didnt take long.
Tradeskill books!
I used this one, step by step
www.townshiprebellion.com
Next, get all to 300. Some searching for Vendor bought routes, and they all went up quite quick. Some needed a litte help but got enough platinum to buy whatever needed.
The natural way to go next was of course Tradeskill recipes (max out Artisan's Prize) from @jande .
Now, I gathered alot of tradeskill materials and FIRED IT UP! This will go quick I thought. Heh! The regret of not looting tradeskill materials for 20 years was... like... total. I had nothing... almost
I now started to save everything with the 'tradeskill' tag.
Space
I quickly realized I needed som more space... so I thouht of Housing! Never really looked into this but Yeah! I fixed 3 houses and started filling it up with materials. Still.... I wasnt even close to space needed. My box crew all bought 3 houses each and I started to separate the tradeskill materials. One house with only Meat, one with ore, one with silk. Got one with flasks and one with powder, spellscrolls and even one with 'animal stuff' and so on. But yeah, 18 houses with tradeskill stuffz.
QUESTION! is this the way to go? Lots of houses? How do you guys organize things?
I then realized I had some houses with 75 spaces some with 150 and som with 300. Didnt check that when I bought the houses...... I thought all 3 room houses was the same, but no!. I am now changing them to the 300 as they get full. I also had som progression reward box wich added 200 in one yard.
QUESTION! You cant see all the stuff in all houses with the Find button in inventory right? only your own houses or something? Even when you are set as co-owner on the other houses?
Farming the Tradeskill stuffz!
When I notice I missed material, I placed a heroic druid if it could be foraged (made 6 heroics druids from the 21 anniversary, who I can delete if I want to change them I heard) or I took a char and used the
Pocketfarm.mac by @kaen01 and /radius 5000. Usually I was after a specifik mob, like /pkf pull horse or something but I figured there would be alot of other tradeskill materials there also so I would just /pkf go and clear everything. Old world zones are almost always empty anyway so.... I would just let it rampage away for some time. Also had 2 spare monks @110 I would set out in strategic places to farm on the other computers when I was tradeskilling away on the main computer. Usually 4 tradeskill bags would be enough.
Another macro to use is the dumpsterdive.mac by @Sym and buy every tradeskill item (sold by players) from every pok vendor in pok. Then use the cleanup macro by Jande to sell back everything that is vendorsold. (if someone sells vendorbought stuff to another vendor dumpsterdive will still buy it. Also gems which is also sold by vendor.) I do this from time to time to get som extra tradeskill materials people dumps on vendors.
There is also a macro on the macroquest2 vip forums which handles collections. I sometimes uses the "buy from bazaar" feature from it. Just use the shopping list from Jandes macro and copy it to that macro. It then buys anything from bazaar (at a max price you set)
Navigating between houses in your neighborhood
To make it easy when I have to empty my inventory (when finished with a tradeskill or farmed some zones) I used the /nav ui and created waypoints with names at all houses. So I just click ore and I will run to that house and I can unload my ore stuff, then click silk and I will run to the silk house and so on. Have some houses I can dump anything in, but they need to be sorted from time to time.
When all this is setup its quite fun to start a new tradeskill.
/mac ts/tradesman smithing learn (creates a shoppinglist)
then go to your neighbourhood and go to each of the 18 houses and do
/mac ts/finditem myCharName (pick up anything I need for my tradeskill) and if your houses are full with tradeskill-stuff, its very satisfying to see the macro picking up all the stuff needed.
after that I check the shopping-list ini if anything is needed from Vendors and I go to them and do /mac ts/finditem my CharName
Then do the
/mac ts/tradesman smithing learn (again) and again, and again
and go farm some zone, filling upp the houses with the stuff not needed at this tradeskill
So, currently I am at 350 with Baking, Fletching, Research and 348 on brewing (almost there). Takes alot of time but quite satisfying. Noticed I needed Poisonmaking so I took the FTP rogue to 300. I guess my chanter-gnome will do tinkering and shammy will do alchemy also.
And I would NEVER have done this without MQ2 and the macros from RedGuides.... no way
Anyway, just my story
