Question - running live and test on same comp

need some help here guys n gals

normally run mq2 on live but decided to try out test server for awhile because f2p get gold access and 20/21 expacs for free

anyway have download latest test compile, ran redguides updater and saved to a different folder called mq2test.

run Live mq2 and all is fine, then run test mq2 and nothing. i get the usual box popup ( do you want to run this program or whatever),but after that nothing, no mq2 window on characters and only one mq2 running in tray.

have logged in all characters on both servers before running mq2

have tried renaming test copy of macroquest2.exe and still nothing


both versions run fine on their own

I don't think you can run them at the same time, I may be wrong though.

on the compile page it says

ts saves the location so you need to switch between live and test servers when updating if you play on both.

so makes me feel it should work


ok had mq2 and KA running on live on one toon, unloaded mq2 from system tray, toon still had mq2 command window and KA still running. started mq2test and it loaded fine. so assuming it has something to do with the .exe file being the same or such.

I run side by side many times, just change the winclassname in macroquest.ini in one of them to something else and u can have both up I just call mine mq2test

and uhm run them from 2 different dirs.

couldnt find winclassname in the macroquest.ini , however did find it in the macroquest_default.ini but if you can please confirm which line of the two below needs changing

MacroQuestWinClassName=__MacroQuestTray
MacroQuestWinName=MacroQuest2

ok sorted it by adding the following to macroquest.ini

MacroQuestWinClassName=__Mq2test

The way I do it is to run MQ2Live, get all my toons online, then exit mq2live from they system tray. Load up mq2test, then load those toons.
