Rezz Feathers

I have heard that you can save the ress feathers that are summoned unto you by a healer.
Supposedly, you can hold them in your bank and it will keep there for later use, when your healer dies and had not yet summoned some feathers unto you.

Someone told me that they left their ress feathers in their inventory and they stayed.

This is true that I know of and that I have seen. However, I thought the feathers had to be used on a healer type. So if you are not a healer type you would not be able to rez yourself. I am not positive on this though.
