Recharge Items post: Or why we should adopt lvls

So as soon as the recharge items bug gets leaked on this forum, some jackhole that pays his 4.95 narcs it out on the SOE forums.

Yet another reason why the "bugs" etc that we pay for don't get posted.

I for one, won't be posting anything but macro help because of this fact.

Can we think of a way to stop this by having member lvls or something?

but i agree some levels might need to be instituted

only problem is then its more work for admins / mods to set levels for who and how they want to do that.

hate to bring it up .. but kenetix has points awarded for what you post.. ie 1pt for a basic offset .. X points for a new mac .. XYZ points for a modded mac .. etc etc

It just sucks to pay for "just" a forum.
Noone posts bugs and exploits here because they know they will get nerfed.
This "is" a pay bug/exploit/cheat site. /shrug

I mean honestly, everything on this forum could be had with a free forum. Don't get me wrong, I like all you guys....but.

To have asshats who narced on you in school for cheating, paying the monthly fee to ruin YOUR game....pisses me the fuck off.

This is how I enjoy playing EQ. If you wanna narc, go do it in some other facet of your life you trolls.

Red is working on alot of upgrades to the site, I would expect to see things change alot once things go live. Just give it a little time. Hes been working on it night and day for a while now. I am sure things will greatly improve.

As far as the Recharge bug goes I say people shouting out about it on Bertoxx a day before I saw it on REguides so ....

But we will see, just be patient...

I'm not really for a points system, especialy if it means turning redguides into a free site. If there is going to be points and it remains a pay site, then all the people who want to contribute but have nothing to contribute are screwed. All the good stuff will be in a higher level, and they will complain that they payed and now get all the shit plugins etc. If it turns into a free site, we'll get a swarm of asshats (like thenewguy) in the forums.

I dont think we will see a level system myself, I really dont agree with it. No easy answers there but then I am just a MOD not admin, they the once that get paid to think about these things... :p

i think if there is a level system ... some of the basics will be there.. and that alone make it worth the price.... for folks that do not know how to compile...

the MQ2 compile is worth it .. and would stay basic level .. i would think
the offsets should stay basic level... sony can nerf them .. but we can keep finding them .. lol

there are some basic harmless macros that would stay too...

there is alot of basic stuff that make this site worth it...



its the true game exploits and hard core hacks that are the issue...

and remember .. THERE is NO way to know which site was seen... read.. and exploited for the nerf....

NO ONE can say for sure it was RG .. unless you did it.. as SOUL said .. he saw it being broadcast on a server...

Set up a forum that requries verified phone, address, Social security, Credit card, first born. Something of that type would weed out the bad ones.

That unfortunately is the risk you take with places like this. I have yet to ever see that happen, but I'm sure someone from sony has been by here a time or 2 LOL. There really isn't much you can do about it actually. Say you set up level access and somone from sony deliberately posts an exploit that they can catch you at. Now that person has higher access to see the better stuff to catch us all doing. There is no TRUE way to block out these people if they really want to get in. Some people think using mq2 is deceptive......I say the gm's that run around as a mob and you never know it is the deceptive act LOL.

You should make some sort of license agreement on this site that makes them swear that they are not working for Sony in any way shape or form. You can also check look up some case law for your state and see if there are simular cases where people lied to gain access to information using a computer (they call that computer fraud - heavy fines and jail time possible).

I do not want to see levels, but I wouldn't be put off there was some sort of verification process to keep Sony out. It would be nice to see the snitches get prosicuted as well if you can find them...

It may not work, it may not be possible, but in theory, it may be a good start for brainstorming the problem.

I for one would not like to see levels implimented, because I don't have the skills I would need to come up with these plugins on my own, and I don't want to lose them. The exploit information is nice, but it's the plugins that I am most concerned about.

IMHO:
I can see SoE employees subscribing to various boards to find exploits, but I can not see them setting up an exploit to catch people. They do NOT want to ban people it losses them $. If they really wanted to get aggressive they would start by doing /who all bard in vxed and FH and they know it. Only time SoE gets aggressive is when it start effecting the regular player base. For example, ghosting to kill raid mobs.

On a conspiracy theory note:
Some exploits are so odd it seems odd that someone would just randomly find them. In that, I think coders put some in, and nerf them once they hit main stream. Also, I would go as far to say they knew about the MGB, and recharge exploit for a long time (by design or accident); SoE employees also play this game and some are in highend raiding guilds.

It's less about Hackers Vs. SoE, and more about Hackers Vs. Greed.

The problem has arrised more since Kenetix opened up. People are all about ganking stuff off any other site they can to submit it to Kenetix and try to get points. If you look at both of the forums side by side, 80% or more is the same thing being handed back and forth between the two sites.
It's not just RG or Kenetix getting things nerfed. It's the general population, people are stupid and have big mouths. You tell 1 person they tell 1 person and so on and so on. Then you have people that have been playing the game for a week knowing about the bugs and sploits = nerfage.

Point systems are ok to some point. They have their perks like everything else. Anal has it's perks and I guess that's why Cade is who he is :P
