Question - Ranger HS to melee if aggro?

I was wondering if there is a way to configure Kissassist to automatically switch my ranger from ranged/HS mode to melee mode when he pulls aggro? I am new to conditions so I haven’t played with those yet. Has anyone made this work? I have meleeon set to 0, autofireon to 1.

Are you just wanting to switch from Ranged weapon to melee weapon? Having MeleeOn turned off and AutoFire turned on, will be a problem. switching weapons can be done with a command entry using the /bandolier.

From what I see in the macro, once the mob gets to close, to use a ranged weapon, autofire is turned off. To get this to work for Autofire and switching to melee. There would have to be a change made in the combat routine, and you would have to create the DPS command: entries using the ambush tag, to switch to the correct /bandolier entries, and turn on and off AutoFire. You could use the BeforeAttack routine for switching weapons and resetting Autofire back on. Last thing that would be needed, is to add a DPS entry to switch you to your melee weapon once AutoFire gets turned off.

id leave both set to 1, when the mob is too close it will go to melee, when its far enough away it will autoshoot.. thats how my ranger is set up and i watch it do that all the time

Thanks both of you! Akatora, it sounds like what you are doing is the same as what I was thinking. I tried setting both 1, but he always ran in to melee first. I will play with it some more, but would you mind sharing the melee portion of your ini please?

@Akatora,
I don't play a ranger, but after the ranger goes melee, don't you have to issue the /autofireon on command to get him to start using his /ranged again?

I may be misunderstanding, I was thinking you were talking about different mob/pulls, not the same mob, if you were talking about the ranger going back to ranged during a single fight then I have no idea, I am pretty sure its 1 or the other.

Besides certain events/missions, why would you ever want to ranged attack as a ranger? I was under the assumption that melee dps is like 70% more DPS then ranged dps. And those events/missions are really situational, where you could just play the ranger manually or create a seperate custom INI file for KA to run you ranger in ranged mode.

Create 2 hotkeys

/mac kissassist ini rangedmode_ranger.ini

/mac kissassist ini meleemode_ranger.ini

Fix your settings for each mode, there you go.. but I would strongly advise against playing a ranger in ranged mode, their supposed to be some pretty sick dps class in melee mode.

Not sure if it still is, but a few months back headshot was OP. Hitting on par with "alliance" type hits, 1M-2M per depending on level of mob. A player ranger I was grouped with in FM was killing Sarnaks as they ran out of the fort, before they made it to camp. My favorite DPS zerker-bot felt useless.

Exactly, it is the Headshot mode that I was utilizing. Thanks for you help!

You should always be bowing as a ranger at 105+ now.

Ranged dps is better than melee dps for a ranger after 105? I remember a developer saying they always wanted range dps to be worse as there was less risk involved, so it was a tradeoff, thats news to me if so.
