If you have a friend that's just starting EQ, or you'd like an alt for rezzes / buffs / heals or whatever, this is currently the best way to do it.

Required
1. High Level Class with lots of HP & Damage Shield Spell (60+ Bard or Druid works best) If you don't have one, ask a friend if you can borrow theirs. You'll only need it for a day or two.

2. The alt character must have an Area Effect spell or song. If not, the alt must hit every mob individually, which is still a good method, just a lot slower than AE.

Strategy
Basically damage shields aren't counted as damage by anyone. If a mob dies to nothing but a damage shield, it will disappear. If someone does one point of damage and the mob dies to damage shield, whoever did the 1 point of damage will get the XP and loot rights.

Instructions
This can be done in many zones, so our suggestions aren't set in stone.

Pull all of the undead pets in Toxx forest to the high level character (if you are using the high level character to pull, don't do damage to the mobs)

The high level character should now get aggro any way possible without doing damage. My high-level bard has an insta-cast regen item I spam on people to draw aggro. Other methods would be to buff the puller, heal the puller, or an Area Effect de-buff.

Once the high-level has aggro, he should sit down and let the mobs hit him while the damage shield does its work.

The low-level alt must hit all of the mobs once, without drawing aggro, and doing at least 1 point of damage. AE spells or songs are the best way to do this.

It should only take a few good pulls to get lvl 6. At that point you should take your little due to the butcherblock chess board and do the same thing with the pawns.

After that, Unrest is a good zone for the massive XP bonus and the fact that the high level doesn't need to sit down, aggro is easy to hold. Once you hit 20, head to Sol A and do goblins. At level 25 start pulling gnomes in Sol A until you hit 44. At this point your alt should have only 10 hours of /played time, depending on how powerful the main character's damage shield is. Sol B or Lower Guk from 44-50 should be no problem.

Right now I have three accounts the main on each is a 58 Cleric, 45 Warrior, and 20 Warrior. I want to make a druid or bard but I'm not to foresure how to go about PL'ing a dru/brd high enough to be an effective PL'er. Any suggestions?

This depends on what you want to powerlevel. Do you want to powerlevel newbies up to 50 or so, or high levels up to 70 with max AA?

Druid is better for powerleveling a lowbie, while bard is better for powerleveling high levels.

I suggest bard, because I prefer the high level game, but that's my preference.

If we can get you a damage shield item for your cleric, he can powerlevel a bard to 40 easily using the method above. You can also pay for a damage shield buff in the bazaar, but that would get tedious.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a search for damage shield effects on either allakhazam or lucy.. so we'll have to ask around if anyone knows of any items. All that comes to my mind right now is the dain ring, and while you can probably do that in a small group, it's a pain. Does anyone know of any items with a good damage shield effect aside from the dain ring?

We can search for items with worn damage shield on them though, which stacks with damage shield spell effects, so here's a list of ones usable by a cleric (I left out raid items, if you want a list of those too let me know) :
Keep in mind that the max for worn damage shield is 15 - but that it stacks with spells. (with a 20 dmg spell on, and a 15 dmg worn, your damage shield total would be 35)

The other good source of damage shields is potions made by shaman. That stacked with the cleric dmg shield is pretty effective. Those items with the +dmg shield effects are also pretty cool. I dont remember the names of the potions, but you can always search through www.eqtraders.com or the various shaman sites.
There is also the quest from Chardok that results in the Band of Bathezid, a pretty decent instant click dmg shield that is rechargeable.

Is there a way to access a second account using the same computer? My problem is no second computer to use a friends account for power leveling. Please advise.

I do it all the time. Although if you wipe it takes forever to zone.

What I do is start up the first account and once my first account is in game I hit the windows key and select the everquest.exe shortcut again. I have had problems doing this in full screen mode so I run both accounts at 1280x760 I like the widescreen look. I use alt+TAB to switch back and forth between the accounts.

I have actually been able to run a third account but my comp really doesn't like it when I do.

System Spec's:
OS: Windows XP Pro
CPU: AMD Atholon 1.3GHz
RAM: 512Mb DDR 333MHz
HDD: 160Gb 7.2k rpm

So nothing special on the system spec's. I have seen four accounts ran this way with 2Gb RAM and one of the New Rapter 36Gb hard drives running at 10000 rpm. It was sweet, the guy was running his own LDoN.

hah! When my friend would let me borrow his warrior, I'd have 4 accounts and do my own LDoN's.

Scripted the rogue (rogue helper script) druid (advbot) and warrior (genbot), and used the bard to pull.

I had 3 computers, but put the rogue & warrior on the same comp.

ive done 3 on my computer useing wineq 2g of ram come to find out i got the rong ram was causeing memory leak now iam back down 2 640 ram :( till i can get the right kind of ram and with the wineq tell ya how much ram you got i use all my ram just running 1 instance of eq

Well here's what i did and you can give me hints

i use a 61 druid to pull and take damage he's gimp
2khp 250wis but i pull the ones i want with lvl 5 snare and depending on the toon i am plin is how many i pull

a non aoe i have them trail a bit behind in PC and snare and i do damage then move on watchin to make sure agro is still on druid and can do continuous till lower is low on mana this made druids, shaman, paladin easy to get to 20 i started form SW ent and worked my way toward giant shroom room as to stay away from camps and others who can get pisoffed or whatever this however has bad effects on skills of castin but after 24 i take them to DSp and group them with my 33 bard and have bard work on leadership while druid and shaman lvl up for paladin i am not sure what i am going to do may keep him with druid

aoe class i ran from big shroom room with PoG, regrowth, and lvl 58 thorns snaring all mobs till i got to SW ent and hit aoe with mage. druid got out with 40% after but i did not sit the damage goes up when you do and he would have died. took 2 hrs to get to 20 that way with a mage after that not sure what i am goign to do conj sucks and mage is gimp till castin gets better got 21 with groupin to work on skills

also intend when they get to 44 they will be in CoM with my bst as he solo's the zone and them assistin lcl 46 will be easy then to PoI and my bst will continue soloing and farming Coiled springs wich sell for 50pp a piece in bazaar or i make collapsed kits and sell for 600pp in bazaar and soem stuff sells for 40+pp and also turn in to gnome outside zone for gems

thats my way did a 64 necro with 12aa's in 9 days played but 60-64 took time but aa's are harder for me cause bst can only solo PoI he has 4khp and only 84aa's

ok here's my prob i just built a new comp it has xp pro unlike my old one

anyway how can you make xp alt-tab to change screens cause so far i cannot figure out how to switch screens fast enough to 2 box on this machine

just to brag
p4 prescott 3ghz
1gig ram 400mhz
geforce 6600 256mb ram
36gig 10krpm raid drive
160gig hard drive

old machine i 2 box on
p4 1.8ghz

geforce 4 MX 128mb ram

You need the MS Application Toolkit 3.0

Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...55-b8a4-46cd-a236-3159970fde94&DisplayLang=en

Once you download and install the toolkit:

1. Run the "Compatibility Administrator Tool 3.0" from the start menu.

2. Select "Applications" from the left window panel.

3. Scroll down and select Everquest.

4. In the right panel right mouse click on eqgame.exe and select "Disable Entry".

Then close out the toolkit and your are gtg.

There is a merchant in Thurgadin (in the bank building) that sells

potion: Breath of Ro

Which is 24dmg sheild for i believe its 10 minutes but im not sure.
It sells for close to 1k, but has around 5-10 charges. I guess if you buy/sell to recharge, it will be worth it on the long run, you need a good amount of money for it though.

A cleric can PLer faster than druid with the new mark line. Why? Because at 65 the spell is a 35 dmg shield. You cast it on mobs, unlike the druid who must use his 49 thorn spell since 50+ doesn't work on newbs. Just root the mob when it gets low and it will continue to hit whoever is closest. I think bard is only good for afk. He is an awfully slow killer.

Brief Intro: Plin from Level 1 to whatever
I have a Level 61 Druid and recently leveled a Cleric to 51 in wich i do this

This is the places that I used to PL my toons with or without AOE spells
(it just goes lots faster with aoe)

1-20(24) Paludal Caverns
20-27 Netherbian Lair
20-32(35)Echo Caverns low side Mutants and needilites
27-38 Dawnshroud peaks
35-45(53) Echo Caverns High side Uthurks (I'll explain more later) and shissar
44-49 City of Mist
44-60 Sebilis (requires Key tracker makes this easy)
45-55 Plane of Innovation
55-65 Plane of Valor
62-65 Bastion of Thunder

This is as high as i have gotten took me 9 days played(month RL)

Ok about the Ulthorks beetles when you head in from Shadowhaven you go straight in toward the deep and to your left along your path is 4 beetles then are decent to 45 but the shissar dude more up the path to the right is good till 53 slows there at 45 but good enough to group with a 65 and let them do the killin

when i get them to 44 i group them with my bst and i farm whatever i want while lvl 44 sucks xp normally CoM stables, Sebilis for spells and gems, or PoInnovation at 45 for Coiled springs and tinkerin gear

I got my wiz 65 with 100 aa with 5 days played lol... I 6 box on 3 cpus and plvling team = cleric/enc/bard + whoever im powerlvling.. can get DS up to about 160 and its nuts if you have a lil ae'r they can get like 7 lvls off a pull.

Most people will tell you that a Enchanter PLs worse then a warrior but at 61 Enchies get Arcane rune. 1500 Damage absorb. That makes it easy with an AE tash for agro. I have PLed a Warrior,a Cleric, a Druid, a Wizard, and a few more all to upper 20's to low 40's(the druid) in very little play time. Just run ench in and tash them(Tash will hold all the agro.) Run back and sit with feedback on. It is a little slower then with a better DS but it works.

1-49 in 2 days played

did this the hard way but here's what i did

52 cleric and 61 druid plin a chanter

started in PC with temp and 49 DS and used plassist on cleic to keep chanter alive (chanters do not have aoe) pulled with druid w/o ds and pulled with snare and let chanter pull them off of druid with nukes took 5 hours from 1 to 20 did this in back of caves where there are fiends shrooms and shiak(or whatever) from there i went straight to DSP by ME zone this time ullin with chanter and lettin chanter pet kill them off
at 30 i grouped chanter with bard (who i sacrificed down to 45) and in JPF i had chanter practicin divination with castskill mac so chanter stayed invis(BTW i added a /delay 100) left comp for work and 2 days later i come back and bard is 51 and chanter is 49 played time 2 days and 1hr then from there i started a slow grind in PoI which i found great xp and loot for a 65bst 52cleric and 52chanter combo (gets me aa's on bst and xp on alts)

Ditto..Please post this item..
"What is the insta-cast regen item you used to keep aggro with your bard?" :)

the whole point of this strat is for the mobs to hit the druid with their high DS and not the newb character, all the character your pling has to do is dmg to each mob. I have a cleric thats infinitely more uber than my druid i can can PL waaaay faster with the druid. once you have the mobs attention and the character your Pling has some their dmg you sit repeatedly till the mobs are dead, this in effect forces them to hit you and they take dmg, I call it Turbo PL you cant do that with a cleric sry.

1 to 51 in around 6 hours. Pl toon needs to be able to takke an odd hit or two...

1 to 25 PC
25 to 51 in lower guk (frenzy camp undea froggies)

used ae snare (no dot one) to keep agro twisted in pov and War march of Muram + firelele illusion and Singing steel click i hit about 160ds total (used lute of flowing water for regen instant clickkie prolly helped with agro)

pulled around 30mobs in PC and about 10 to 15 in guk at a time. (bard has 8k unbuffed hps) had a cleric down in guk with me when things got dicy (bard didnt die alot but once or twice... mobs dont hit hard but they can wang out some dps over time when there beating on ya)

after that hit dronga, used a bst and slaughtersd there, exp is fantastc there just hit 62 time to do the aa grind played time 1 day 3 hours with 6aas atm

PL'd a Rogue from 1-58 so far.

Used 70 Cleric using mark of the blameless, and 61 druid using thorns
its about a 80 dmg DS.

1-15 Unrest (anything)
15-35 Sol a (clock works / gnomes)
35-40 Dulak (armory)

40-46 Deep (used cleric, and monk to FD/PL)
46+ Fire (Tables) -- I just have him in the grp soaking xp at this point --

Was pretty fast. I tried many zones so cant say how long exactly. If I had to guess, 1-46 in less then a week (not trying).

Bards are awesome plvlers, pull a huge noob train with ae snare to hold agro then get a nice brass instrument and twist dmg shield songs and if you have the right clickies you can get a 150ds and butcher shit down. The noob you are plvling just has to cast a pbae or as a melee make a target switching mac that switches on sucessful hit. I usually plvl with bard, enc, cleric as my plvl group and then the plvlee group = whatever mix match classes I'm plvling. Sometimes I'll make a noob bard to group with the new toon to plvl up with being as they can pbae from lvl 2 and it makes it faster.

My systems are:

I plvl in the following areas
1-6 BB ChestBoard/Druid ring undead or in Tox forest abandonded heretic pet house

6-15 Unrest off the yardtrash and some house mobs

15-33 Sol a first pulling goblins then at 24ish start pulling the gnomes

33-46 Have my lowbies group with my plvling bard #1 in timorous deep at spirocs being chant kite plvled afk style till 46.

46-60/62 Nadox with plvling bard #2 afk chant kite macing in the incubator room.

60+ I either go to vxed and get aa's and lvl to 70 or I go to HoH and plvl to 65 and get like 200aa's then go to vxed and plvl to 70 with chant macs. Really depends on the mood I'm in HoH is nice because it doesn't boot you out every 6 hours, but you can make a mac to rerequest vxed and it makes it smooth. I have a HoH bard and a Vxed bard (bard#3) and I rotate aroudn bards so people don't usually catch on that I'm macing its kinda nice lil setup can go 1-70 with 100 aa in like 2 weeks if that.

can you post locs and strategy on nadox and such also the locations of macs used would help
thx

Thanks for the write up tone .... btw awesome sys spec's congratz .....

Could someone please help me out i been reading some of these but my 65bard has 5.2k with Conviction got my 2nd acct bard to 20 in little over an hour but now im stuck...i cant get 20-40 range figured out... could someone please help me find AE place that doesnt have runners... like i tried Netherb and everything went to 50% and hit the road... please help

Get your 65 bard and twist ae snare, regen, warsong of zek, and pslam of veeshan. Pull a huge ass train of gnomes in sol a with the 65 bard, and then play an ae song with your 20 bard a few times then back off the 20 bard and watch the 65 bard kill everything with his dmg shield. Get to 38 off this then go afk kite jaggedpine or something.

1-50 in 8hours RL time :P Was a bard that my friend made so I plvled it for him. Think I set my own record off this char.

I know this is an old post, but if anyone can help with this i would appreciate it. I downloaded, installed and ran this but when i select "applications" Everquest is not listed. I actually have both version 3 and 4 of this downloaded now. Any idea on why not or if there is anything i can do to add it on? I am looking to do this as the solution to let me alt-tab back and forth between accounts without so much delay on xp. Thanks for any help!

This also works with a 68+ mage that has the spell "Pyrilen Skin", I PLed a 25 mage to 28 in about 20 mins just mass pulling and casting the spell on myself. I was in DSP, Maiden's Eye zoneline and pulled from the rocks, then went out to find other things. I grabbed about 5 - 6 at a time, and used "Mala" to pull with because the other mage could not land anything. Have the mage AE the mobs, then recast Pyrilen Skin on yourself and sit down. This only lasts for 4 hits and has a required level of 60, but the mobs usually are dead if they quad with the DS on you. After about 20 mins I was only down to about 70% life and drank a Healing Potion X and was at full again, they only cost ~37p so they are quite nice, and the mage gained 3 levels in 20 minutes!
Goodluck all.

i use a druid to pl ..

like all said i use the DS method.. sit and let them beat on me.. heal up .. and agro never wavers

1-12 CB
12-20ish PC .. back by the bugs
20-40ish in DSP SS line.. pull trains of zelniaks
40-50 ish in dulak harbor .. past the armory.. there is a little U shaped fenced area
i pull trains of mobs to there 10-20 at a time

the number of mobs depends on if I am solo or have a cleric to cast HoT

after 50 its grp and Planes with a army of Bots or in grps

8-)
