There is little CONFIRMED information on this quest so I thought I'd share some here.

Grab the sword in front of PoW, walk into the zone and go straight here. You will have a consistent flow of 4+ mobs (mostly pigs since they have low hps) So bring some CC or a bard for mana regen.

Kill 75-125~ mobs and there will be a red emote across the screen. That's when one group member will get the helm.(working on getting the exact number) then /kickp t And start over. Another stipulation of the bonus is that you cannot zone out (you can die but must be rezzed in hover mode) EDIT: I had a toon die and zone to GL and then get rezzed, and still got the helm but it took what seemed like a lot more kills. So I'd stay alive to keep it short.

Start over again for any other toon who needs the trophy. You do not need to do any part of the quest AT ALL.

As for dropping a campfire at the spot unfortunately that won't work as each mission has it's own instance.
 
You can in fact drop a campfire, but what will happen if a toon dies, goes back to bind, and campfires back in, they DO show up in the instance, but at the zone in from PoTranq, not right at the campfire.. so they will have to run over to the group..

I ran this last night, (attempted) to get the helm.. killed a ton of the boars, no emote.. RHB, can you tell me at what step in the mission you did this? or literally first thing you did? I was on the collect armor pieces step when I killed all the boars (and collected all armor pieces from them as well)... but as mentioned, no emote and no warhelm...

Needless to say, I was pissed LOL...

Ah yes I know exactly why it didn't work. You can never zone out and that includes dying. You CAN die if you get rezzed in hover mode (I've tested that). Part of the bonus stipulates that you don't leave powar.
 
Hmm this does not seem to work consistently. I killed over 100 boars at that location without the red emote. I did not advance the quest, I just ran to the camp.

Perhaps there is a time constraint? Min or max

Weird, I've run it 4x since yesterday and had no issues. I'm usually done in about an hour. Every time the same steps:

Grab sword

Run to spot

Kill 75-100 mobs

Red emote pops up and ONE toon gets the helm (check your inventory?)

Drop task

Rinse/repeat.


This is how the bonus is supposed to work, but it was bugged the first year (you could get the helm almost instantly) and last year (no one could figure out how to get the helm).

You can't zone out, or it gets borked. You CAN do the quest if you want, that wont hurt the bonus in any way. But this has worked every single time for me.
 
Update: I actually had a toon die and zone all the way out to GL then get rezzed, shortly after I STILL got the helm. So dying doesn't seem to be an issue.
 
With a normal group, you can even stay at zone in to kills the mobs. There are 2 groups of mobs in front of zone in that respawn pretty fast. They are easy to kill now with eok dps increase.

You mean not Field of Strife, but the very front end of the zone? That 2 clusters of ogres? And you still get the warhelm reward?

Yep, at the normal zone in point, in the north part of the zone.
You still get the reward from there.
I zoned in, stayed at zone in, killed mobs for some times and got the reward from there.

Rinse, repeat for the next toon....

Extra infos for this task: the mobs respawn in the instance, that's why you can stay at zone in np to do it for the bonus item.
 
Yes it's any mob, the only reason I like the boars is to duo this with a couple merc up. The reason I like to do that is because I stick my zerk who has the helm already there and put the other toon in the group so they are guaranteed the helm.

It's random who gets the helm as far as I know, but its lore so if you have it then ... well you get it.

I suppose if you have 4-5 toons with the helm the theory applies and yes staying at zone in is easier. But I like to do other stuff while the duo sits there doin it's thing.
 
Another advantage the boars may have is they may not have the really annoying agro debuff that the skellies and other mobs near the zone-in constantly use. I honestly didn't check, but I could see that being the case.

I also used the zone-in. I made sure to setup just to the left of the tree north of the skellies. I did this purposefully because if I setup too far southeast of the zone-in my puller would grab a skelly or two, and then pop off an arrow at the other mobs south of there and pull 3-4 at once. I had a mezzer, so it wasn't the end of the world, but the issue is that agro debuff they all seem to use. It kept getting my wizzies and clerics KO'd. The skellies are NO MEZ, but you only get a max of two of those at a time and they die fast. I recommend if you're not going to head to the piggies then to setup near the zone in and make sure you're close to the skellies so you're grabbing those first.

p.s. this went fast for me... one day, two groups going at once, and I got all 12-14 toons helms in maybe 4-5 hours.
 
Finally got back to this today.. I didnt keep track of mob death count, but yep sure enough, parked between the two groups of ogres near zone in, and just let my grp pull/kill, i got the emote EXACTLY at 45min on the task timer..

And of COURSE it gave the reward to the least needful toon LOL..
 
Excuse the stupid question, but, I need to place this trophy on a plot of land to be able to enable the benefits ?

I got this on all my toons by cycling two groups through and camping at the zone in. Great guide by rhb and tips for just doing it near the zone in by MrPatate.

still working as before.. I got 6x earlier this month, just get the task, zone in, and set up near those clusters of ogres right near the zone-in.. about 40ish minutes later, it'll randomly award.. No need to advance the task in any way..
 
Super easy ... kill anywhere until you get the trophy, drop mission, get again, rinse, repeat.
