Question - PL Advise for Live TBM

I have just hit 90 on my first group doing it with kissassist as a normal grinding XP group. XP has greatly slowed so I can start working on another group now

I want to start 4 new characters to join my 75dru + 65shd.
Also thinking of making a few 3 character groups for farming stuff.

So I am wondering what the fast ways to PL level 15-80+ with what I have available to me

1. How do you DS PL in todays EQ-Live? Is it still use a bard that has buffs + mage damage shield and agro whole zone then let lowbies do dmg while mobs die via DS?
2. How do you SHD swarm PL? I hear this is nerfed but I saw a lvl101 SHD in 'the grounds' kill a 50ish mob pull
3. How do you Cleric swarm/rDS? Saw someone talking about being able to quickly get toons up to 80's with a cleric

I am confused if SHD swarming is still possible... Read almars swarming guide but it said it was nerfed in 2014?

Lots of ways to DS PL, My personal favorite Is with an sk because of natural DS+ from AAs, make sure he has something like a Pail of Slop in both hands so you cant riposte, Agro a bunch of mobs, hit em twice with your AE Taunt NO DMG Spell/AA, use Oil of Fennin Ro (if the PL'd toon doesn't have an AE) make sure they hit everything(or most) and flip the DS on whether it be a Pot, Buff, or from an Item (most cloaks I believe now a days have some sort of DS)

Swarm PL works only if you can group with the toon (well you could just snare em up and FD when they all get low but that sucks) Gather a bunch of mobs, get to a corner, right before they get there click your epic, Pray mortalcoil pops, if it doesn't, make sure you've got defensive disks ready, and essentially just kil em, Outside of agro spells/ae, I tend not to cast as to not take away from my ripostes which will heal you with epic/MC

Reverse DS is the Clerics Mark line or Rangers Swarm/CLoud line(I think that's what it is, been out of game for a couple months). You cast it on the mob and it works as a DS as if you casted a DS on someone if you were a ranger, druid, Mage, etc. I think the Clerics may even heal you as they get hurt but cant remember if that line is self only or not.

Also the way Swarming was nerfed in 04, as opposed to just having a timer for MC or epic, they added a Hit limit as well which significantly decreased the longevity if you cant constantly get MC to pop off the mob deaths

Swarming is still very possible just takes a lot more care and good gear. I think Epic 2.0 is a must to start with before MC pops.

There is a current whining thread on Daybreak forums where a skilled and well equipped SK is swarming EoK mobs.

You have to really watch the hit limit these days or you are dead.

Hello! I generally PL 1-75 via the Hatchery quest next to big bank. Pretty straight forward process as well. Group everyone up or /taskadd the PLer after getting the mission. Tell the lady next to big bank "investigate" and have the PLee enter the instance first by saying "ready". That is really the most important part as the instance scales to the first person to enter.

Once everyone is in the instance run around on your PLer aggroing everyone mob in the zone and bringing them back to the entrance. I generally equip as weapon I can't fight back with and turn my back to the mobs during this. Using an SK is best as I can AoE taunt several times ensuring my PLee doesn't just get eaten. Once all mobs are dead leave the instance and task to rinse/repeat for EXP.

Hmm, wondering if I am doing this too low. Using my 105 SK and using AE hate AA (both), but upon using oil my low level (lvl 8) guy gets hated on and dies instantly.

I'd have thought there would have been heaps of hate to overcome but clearly not

I PL with my paypal.... I don't have time nor patients to DS or Swarm or quest, I click a button and BAM 85, next day Viola 105! My time is better spent on the AAs over the PL

Load up the SK with all the AE hate spells (and) AA's. You should really have at least 3-4 on your spell bar and the AE hate AA ready. Pull a bigass train (I pull with terror and charge). Run back to your corner and do a full round of ae hate spells (all 3-4 of them). I save the AA for insta-ae hate in case there are stragglers.

The other tip is to just use a bard and chords of dissonance. It's like a level 2 or 4 song (forget which). What I do is setup hotkeys on my SK for "/bct <bard's name> //twist 1" (where the ae damage song chords of dissonance is in the 1st spell slot). When I think he's hit most of the mobs (you can check by togging through and checking for the chords debuff in the mob debuff window... unlike ae wizzy spells or oil clicky), I'll do a "/bct <bard's name> //twist stop" and load up the DS's on the SK with a non-ripo primary equipped. At that point its just all about spamming sit down with my back to the mobs. I'll still do an ae hate spell here and there to make sure I don't use agro.

Doing it this way I only lost agro once in a PL from lvl 1 to 62.

To recap:
1. Group a bard with your PL'ees instead of bothering with oil or AE damage
2. Use way more than 1 or 2 AE hate abilities. Use all the spells you have plus the AA's to generate hate.

< level 10 is where I have problems, the Golden Pick proc's at level 1 and is tradeable on FV.
What I do on FV is have a wizard/druid do the golden pick quest, after you finish part2 you can get unlimited golden pick's and give them to noobs. Just ask for the part3 quest and he will give you a Golden Pick that you can give to a noob then abandon quest and ask for it again and give it to another noob

Dont forget to put a Voice on your SHD as well.
Disgust/Repugnance (the spells) hit unlimited mobs afaik, the AA usually can only hit 8 mobs
There are more AE aggro spells that are probably better than the AA but cast time =)


These are the agro spells/aa I use

            /declare aggroCount int outer 4
            /declare aggroTimer timer outer 5s
            /declare aggro1 string outer Disgust
            /declare aggro2 string outer Explosion of Spite
            /declare aggro3 string outer Repugnance

The problem I have noticed is if you dont keep generating aggro after a couple seconds with 20 mobs on your SHD some will turn and smack your noob.
So you have to continually generate hate on your reverseDSPL person.

I will add two things that might clear somethings up:

1) the SK can have a healer merc that can take hits after the SK.

2) clerics cannot really swarm PL anymore. It was nerfed back in 2014. The way clerics swarmed was to gather up a ton of grey mobs to the cleric and use shining light series to keep healed. Since the nerf when they supposedly nerfed all swarm kiting, you know right before they introduced Pay2Win heroic characters, the clerics shining light line does not proc on grey mobs any longer.

For me its stonehive to 46 then pon hobgobs to 65 (in your case 60) then I'd group the 60's with the SK and swarm things or afk pull with afk tools on.

The fastest way I have found for 1-25 is to buff up one of the lvl1 and then use 105 Cleric to swarm kite with Blood of the Adherent cleric 95 spell ( I found the 105 one doesn't spread very well ), kite all the skellys in CR and then train and fade them onto the lvl1.

For lvl 25 - 60 - I swarm with a 105 pally - no dmg main hand, spam heals and ae agro - and a druid for ds ( like stemfang rush there 4 similar on separate cooldown ) then use a bard pb ae ( Denon's Disruptive Discord ) song or cleric pb ae ( Word of Pain ) neither have a target limit, then spam the druid ds

60+ i have dedicated 90 hot raid geared rng for group pl to 75

35-40 hive
40-50 Corathus Creep

Have you done that recently? There were reports the viral DS was changed a while back so it counts as damage done by the cleric, and therefore, wouldn't work for DS PL'ing.

I use DS pl'ing with leveling a wizard for ae dmg along with the actual toon I want to PL. This is much faster then running around doing the Golden Pick quest.
I also suggest sticking with classic EQ zones or much older EQ zones, as the mob HP starts to increase slightly each expansion.

Yes, used the Clerics viral ds about just over a month ago, worked fine.
