Now that I have my 2 box set up for phinigel , anyone have any leveling tips? Such as quest turn ins , factions needed and what not.

Also , any suggestions for a better farming duo? Currently
Trying for monk / shaman
 
Just duo'n? BST / Druid... between them you get good buffs for hps, haste, movement etc... Until you're much later in the game (meanign high end raiding events at over lvl 60), you can tank and do most things with the BST and the druid can dot he heals, transportations, dps assists etc. For leveling in general, at any given time, find an area with lots of LB's with a mix of Blue's and pull never ending. You will level extremely effecient and fast compared to grouping with 6 fighting yellow cons.
 
i had a lot of luck duo with a chanter and druid, up into the 60's, although you might also do well with a sk/cleric combo or war/clr combo, druid might also work fairly well instead of a cleric there
 
What becomes the deadliest combo in Velious? Why does ENC/CLR stop being deadly in Velious?

Further, does anybody have insight into the best combos through the eras?

Classic/Kunark: ENC/CLR
Velious: ?
Luclin: ?
PoP: ?

This is purely from a farming/soloability of a two box standpoint.
 
you want a combo that works in all expansions go with shaman/warrior. Or druid/necro. Or ...

everyone has their own opinions --shrugs--
 
I don't know how so many people feel comfortable depending on Ench charm pets to do their bidding so often. Do they not break randomly anymore like they used too? Or maybe it's me, I hate gambling like won't gamble even a penny and I find the Ench charm pet to be a giant gamble.

If you did Nec/Dru you wouldn't be disappointed. Nec/Shm would work too but PoP + because imho ports are essential. With nec/dru you got a tank, heals, dps, kiting ability, ports, SoW and the necro even gets a rez 50+.

All you're missing is slow
 
Necros get undead slow, plus a nuke to turn something undead for a short time. I just forget at which point they entered the game.... but I use the 2-step slow on my necro in a pinch =)
 
If you don't want to Kite or Charm, @ 60 Sk / Sham is a really robust combo.

Buffs/de-buffs/tanking/procs and taps/torpor/snap aggro/fd pulling...
 
I second the SK/Sham combo for a traditional style.

2 box kiting is always a pain, run one guy -- pew pew -- move over to other computer --pew pew -- look around for mob, oh crap i'm out of range. Run closer, oh crap charm wore off move to other computer!
 
SK/Sham is good if you're trying to get groups started. I prefer SHM/MNK if primarily duo'ing. Monk can hold aggro just fine for the duo, does significantly more damage at similar gear levels and has better feign. Only thing lacking is snare.
 
Any way to Box on one pc? Even with IS boxer my guys get kicked out within 3-4 minutes if on one pc. Playing on my laptop is a real pita.
 
ok thanks for the response. I have many computers and the original switcher for one keyboard sharing multiple pcs. Oh joy bringing that back out of the closet.

virtual machine, i guess? haven't actually tried it but i'd assume it works.
 
It also has checks for VM's using virtual box or any of the VMWare solutions. So virtual machines will not work.
 
you can control your multiple PC's with software still. just change what keys are getting replicated to your box's and add a slight delay.

example: press (4) on my my main keyboard. (2) gets broadcast to PC2 (3) gets broadcast to PC3 500ms later (1) gets broadcast to PC4 700ms later. all 3 extra box's pet attack then cast nuke.

bypasses all of the true box detection.

Just FYI, Redguides does not condone any detection bypasses for Phinny, its not part of the agreement between MQ2 and DBG but it brings needless attention to our community. If you want to box from 1 PC there is, well, every other server besides Phinny to do that on. Ragefire and Lockjaw are full of boxers where you don't have to try and break the 1 ruleset they are really trying to enforce. People WILL report you on Phinny

It'll be interesting to see how things turn out if they make all future TLPs like Phinigel instead of like RF/LJ - I would assume that they'll always have two different types because boxers are insane revenue for the company and most boxers seldom complain. Seriously, when have you heard a boxer say "MAKE THIS CHANGE OR ILL CANCEL ALL 50 OF MY ACCOUNTS" - never right?

ATM TL has a working mq compile on Phinny, I have seen screenshots of their famous boxer using it. I won't do names but he's the guy who brags about having thousands of kronos, boxed an army on RF and generally stirs up the forums about how rich he is in game. Just thinking about the context I got the screen shots in and how often drama is brought up Phinigel is like a day time soap opera =P

Apparently being able to use MQ mellows out a lot of people ;D
 
A truebox server doesn't need to be anti-MQ2. It just needs to be anti-ISBoxer
 
I CAN ASSURE YOU ALL 50 OF THOSE ACCOUNTS ARE PAID WITH KRONO , IN GAME ITS ONLY BEEN PAID FOR ONCE AND CIRCULATED . SO THEY REALLY ARENT MAKING MUCH FROM IT . APART FROM THE FIRST ORIGINAL PURCHASE (50) NOT SURE HOW ALL THE ACCOUNTS ARE BEING LOGGED IN THOUGH , I DOUBT HE HAS 50 PS'S SET UP IN A ROOM AT HIS HOME . THAT WOULD USE SO MUCH POWER CAUSING SPIKES PLUS THE BROADBAND USAGE WOULD HIT A REDFLAG WITH ISP
 
I don't doubt people having a multitude of PC's to do that, though in all likelyhood he doesnt. You can buy a pallet, yes a pallet of 30-50 EQ capable PCS for a few hundred dollars if you had the dedication to set them all up if you only needed 1 session per pc. A low end PC that is EQ capable doesnt need more than a 200w PSU. Which even having 20+ hooked up is no more than me sitting down with my welder for an afternoon and the bandwidth is near nothing for EQ. Especially when there 10mb pipelines that streaming a HD movie on probably draws more than 50 EQ sessions.

Eitherway, I'm glad the compile isn't coming from here. And if a rule is made, someone, somewhere, will challenge it.

Why are we assuming 50 accounts = 50 computers? I just was pointing out you never see boxers threatening to unsub all of their accounts if they don't get their way but regular players do. Nowhere did I mention 50 computers to run those 50 accounts =P

I don't think electric would be super high either, per computer I own I noticed they upped the bill by roughly 10$ per computer a month. As for broadband, i think it would matter more on who your ISP was. If you're paying for good internet (like one of the better, faster package deals) I would expect they assume you're going to be running more than joe-six pack who browses porn and plays LoL. With 50 computers the largest issue I would imagine is heat. I have 6 of mine in the same room and during the summer they raise the rooms temperature by about 2 or 3 degrees per computer. This summer I am actually going to put in an LG unit to try and control the heat better.

Also Kronos are consumed underdog so they can't be circulated and keep in mind a krono costs more than a regular subscription, Daybreak makes more from players that use kronos versus those who don't. You may bring up that kronos can be duped, sure they can one just happened in EQ2 recently. That's why we saw a few bans and krono prices have recently skyrocketed on 3rd party websites. Things like that Daybreak are on like.. flies on poop or white on rice or some other goofy metaphor because a dupe to kronos can literally sink their company whereas a plat dupe only effects the servers/players and doesn't have such a dramatic direct effect a krono dupe would.

Can you tell me where? Or do you mean a few thousand dollars? A few hundred seems like an under estimation considering most of the basic of basic computers you can get are 2 - 300 a pop. I only own 13 PCs, two laptops, 11 desktops. I'd never box more than 6 on Phinigel either (if i even had interest to play on it) as I feel you're just drawing a target on your back at that point. You're not really doing anything illegal but you're doing something unethical to that server and not only would the players be up your ass but I feel like GMs would be too since you can box elsewhere. I feel like any wrong move could get you banned at that point.

The reason I ask about the computers is because I also bot Swtor and I run 1 client per computer since that game is so poorly coded as is their bot, Buddywing, it can't handle VMs/multiple clients, it just hiccups and crashes. The upside to that though is swtor is free and has a 0% banrate so you can bot for months on end uninterrupted and never be banned without paying a dime then subscribe once and sell all of the credits.

There's drops selling for 20+ krono on phinny. That plus plat sales there's potential for making money.
 
ALL I MEANT WAS A LOT OF PPL DONT USE THEM THEY KEEP FOR THE USE OF TRADING AND AS A SECOND CURRENCY . I HAVE KRONOS IN BANK I HAVENT TOUCHED IN 6 MONTHS . KEEPING JUST FOR THE USE OF TRADES . MOST OF THE KRONOS ARE USED IN THAT WAY SO , IN A NUT SHELL WHAT I WAS SAYING IS I PERSONALY DONT THINK BUT MAYBE 30% OF KRONOS ARE BEING USED ON A TLP SERVER .

Shipping makes it not worth it but sometimes the recycling agencies get 3 or 4 big pallets of old computers from a big company that just refreshed their desktops.

Interesting, thank you for pointing this out to me. I have always been scared of Ebay/websites like that as I had a case of Identity theft a few years ago. Some bastard ordered 10 iphones with my paypal off of Ebay. So my trust for those sites is very biasly skewed.

I know newegg/office depot runs sales kind of similar to that, I got 3 Lenovos from office depot two years ago each for about 300 a pop instead of 500 because of a bulk purchase. They were all refurbished and only one of them has died so far so I would call that a win =P

I'll have to do some googling tonight! It's amazing the stuff you can find like this that not many people knows about. Buying a whole pallet of computers, I never woulda even thought.
 
I've bought more than 1 pallet in my setups for simple thin clients for manufacturing facilities that is far cheaper than setting up actual thin clients from say, HP. They key is finding places you can use for commercial freight within 100 / 200 miles from yourself. I was fortunate I was already in manufacturing facilities. Buy from places that have sold in the past, it may take time to find a place but in the end I've come out way further ahead.

Anyone recommend a good KVM switch. I got one off amazon but it is annoying as I have to hit the toggle button on the switcher itself and it toggles through all the other unconnected ports before i gets back to my main pc. I want a KVM switcher with keyboard hotkey. Plus it also closes the connection to the video card of the other pc making it slow to swap between screens. Any advice would be appreciated.
